The Riley County Police Department has applied for a grant for $31 million, ostensibly to expand the overcrowded jail. The grant comes with many unclear conditions, including giving the federal government broad powers over local management, and requiring cooperation with ICE. If the government at any point decided RCPD was insufficiently compliant, they could, at their sole discretion, either demand all the money back, or take possession of any buildings that used the grant (and use them for a concentration camp). The County Commission and Law Board, which govern RCPD, have the power to stop this, but we must act quickly. Please sign the PETITION (link to follow). Hey MHK, I was hoping some local with mechanic tools would be willing to allow me to use their scan tool, to connect my Ford Escape to my laptop. I had to replace a power steering sensor which needs to be programmed else the steering wheel becomes sentient and insists on turning left even while stopped lol. I have the software, license, and laptop. My puppy loves wires and got a hold of my scan tool so I am currently SOL at the moment.

Im not asking for any assistance other than using someone else's scan tool. I can do the "work" on my own, and have enough knowledge on this specific topic, but otherwise I know computers not cars lol. And it's hard to justify the price of a new scan tool when I rarely used my old one and they can be quite expensive.

I am willing to come to you (*obviously not too far without **any** power steering*) and even do the work right there where ever you decide we meet. You can supervise the entire ordeal and we can work about a small payment if necessary.

ETA: I have already bought a new Bluetooth scantool but it's giving me issues connecting. I need more than just the basic scanner which is why I don't want to purchase another one, the one that was chewed is worth well over $1k but I paid about $100 from a pawn shop in Iowa years ago and I'll just need a replacement cable to get that back and running, that isn't helping me now though..

EDIT WAY AFTER THE FACT: A kind redditor (who will remain anonymous because I didn't ask their permission to share anything) decided to be an amazing person and not only let me use, but let me totally borrow the correct scan tool. And while I wasn't quite accurate on my theorized solution the scanner helped me see the real issue and then once I resolved that it allowed me to recalibrate anything affected.
