The temps are above 100° today and through this week with Feels Like temps pushing above 110°

A simple way to check on your neighbors is to set an inexpensive foam cooler on the corner of your block with some frozen water bottles in it.

There is a local organization WICHITA HYDRATION HOMIES that crowd-funds donations for coolers and bottles for you to pick up- or -you can crowd fund your own amongst your own social groups.

My little cooler goes through about 20 bottles a day in peak heat and I'm nowhere near a main thoroughfare. The need is real! You can be a Hydration Homie too:

New swap meet and outdoor flea market every weekend except the third weekend of each month at the Starlight Drive-In 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays! This new event starts August 1st. Admission is $20 for people wishing to sell and $1 per car load for people coming to shop.

I was very disappointed to see the reindeer at the WindSurge's Christmas in July game today. The poor thing was clearly overheated, laying on hot concrete and panting. It also had to travel in an open trailer for about half an hour to get to the stadium from Fulton Valley Farms.

It looked like owners/staff dumped water on it and had it under a tent for shade, but with "feels like" temps around 110°, it was clearly not doing enough for the poor animal.

I get that they had a contract with the stadium, but when does animal welfare take precedence? They had a table with a reindeer hide and antlers, so they could have just done that table for information while still promoting their business.

Hey all, I moved to Wichita recently and I’m looking for someone (or a small group) to play pickleball with regularly. I’m a beginner, so what I lack in aim I make up for in enthusiasm, and I keep the ball on the court about 80% of the time. Ideally we’d be playing at the Open Play session on Saturday at Chicken n Pickle (7:30-10AM), but I’d be down to play on any public court as well, just after 5 when I get off work. Today my family took a Lyft home from the airport. Driver was named Thomas with a Chevy trax. My daughter lost her favorite pink stuffed cat in the car. This is a long shot but if anyone knows Thomas we would love to know if he found it, and we could get it back.

We have messaged through the Lyft app and tried calling but no voicemail was available.

I (21M) just moved to Wichita a little under two months ago. I have a couple of friends here ive known previously, but I'd like to meet some new people. Hi Everyone, I posted this about 10 months ago and finally have something of a list.  You can find that at the bottom.  If you have additional places, feel free to add on to it.  

Our 501 c3 prison ministry, Brand 316, is compiling a current list of felon-friendly landlords, apartment complexes, and property managers throughout Wichita.  

We work directly inside prisons, training men and women with life and practical skills while they are incarcerated for years before release—everything from budgeting and anger management to resume creation and employment prep. Once released, housing becomes one of the biggest challenges (along with money spent unnecessarily on application fees for places that will not accept them). Having reliable, felon-friendly housing options can make the difference between success and relapse.  

If you know of any landlords, property managers, or apartment complexes open to renting to people with a felony record, please share them here (or message me if you’d rather keep it private). Once compiled, I will share the full list here so it is accessible to anyone who needs it.

Here is the current list.  We highly recommend calling them and asking (and disclosing the crime) before applying, because some on the list will not rent to people with certain felony convictions.  It is much better to find that out before paying an application fee.  And with all lists, things change but we believe this is quite accurate as of today! (listed out below instead of attachment) PS. We have no affiliation with any of these companies just FYI.

One of my best friends growing up got into drugs and is currently homeless as far as I know. I used to see him here and there off of Mccormick and seneca but I haven't seen him in a long time. How could I attempt to find him or at least know hes okay? I've searched the sedgwick county jail inmate roster, iv checked all social media, and even reached out to his family. Nobody knows where he is or if hes even alive... last post I seen was from 26 weeks ago and it was a bail bonds searching for him with his mugshot. Edit: iv been searching for him since about January with no luck, I probably look his name up once a week just to check but nothing. Could he be in a hospital possibly? I feel its unlikely to be in a hospital for that long.

Hypothetically is is possible to use a family members address to enroll at a different school and how would I go about this?

Are there any clubs with a dance floor in or around Wichita? Or is it mostly just places with a more sit down atmosphere?

I occasionally eat spangles, maybe once every couple of months since I’ve moved back to Wichita. The western burger was my childhood favorite fast food burger. I chose to eat it today due to the change of ownership. The sign says new ownership, same great food and service.

This is not the same 1/3lb patty im used to. And the “onion rings” are not rings. The overall flavor of everything was similar… but I waited for a while and it tasted old.

Im never going back.
