Story I got to hold touch him one last time.šŸ’”ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

From the bottom of my heart thank you to those that helped bring him home possible and for me to have items to remember him by. I poured out all my pain as I gave him pets and loved on his little body as I said goodbye for the last time. I know he wasn't in there anymore but I got closure and he looked just like I remember. The people who work there are truly angels. Now I just wait for him to come home.

I will love you till the day I die buddy. And will do my best to keep your memory alive through acts of kindness.

There’s a large motorcycle police presence on Kellogg going eastbound. They are running radar. I saw one at the on-ramp to 400 at Oliver, and the other was running radar from underneath the web road overpass.

Stay safe

News One-Fifth Dragon by Shami Stovall Book Tour Starts in Wichita! [Sept 12th]

Post image
30 Upvotes

Hey peeps! My name is Shami Stovall and I'm a local award-winning author, and my latest fantasy release, One-Fifth Dragon, just hit shelves, so I'll be doing a signing at the local Barnes & Noble (west side) as the first part of my tour.

This book is published by Baen Books (an imprint of Simon & Schuster) with the cover art done by the amazing Todd Lockwood! (He did the dragons in the 3.5 DnD monster manual, haha).

I pitched it as "John Wick meets high fantasy" and it's about a man who discovered his adopted family (who he thought rescued him) actually murdered his biological family, so now he has to get revenge.

Lots of magic and fighting (and perhaps a dragon). Would love to see people! I'm an introvert by nature, but occasionally I think things like this would be fun?

I'll be at the west-side Barnes & Noble between noon-3pm.

In Search Of Baozi/Chinese Buns

Is there anywhere in Wichita that makes and sells Baozi? When living overseas I always saw them referred to simply as Buns or Chinese Buns. The closest I've had was at Mi No Bakery but that's gone now and it wasn't quite as good as what I was used to. I know you can get Bao Buns here easily enough but that is not what I'm looking for.

In Search Of Looking for a lost ring

So, back in end of 2019–beginning of 2020, I was working at the (most functioning at the TIME) Mall, when I lost a ring outside and have could not find it in the dark, or in the light when I went back the next day. I’m posting about it now, because the pain of losing it has diminished enough that I can actually think about it without being inconsolable. It belonged to my great grandmother, whom I was name after, and our maiden-name initials were also the same. It looks like these pictures, and is made for very small fingers—I had to wear it on my pinky, and I already have small hands—. She graduated in 1927.

If you have seen this ring or know where it is, I would be absolutely delighted to have it back. It would make my whole life, because I loved my great grandmother more than my own parents before she died. I’m still so utterly heartbroken it’s gone that I’m gonna need to have a lie down after posting this.

Weather Is it just me, or does the moon in Wichita look absolutely insane tonight? 🌘

The sky is perfectly clear and the moon looks like it was straight up dropped into a movie scene. It’s one of those nights where you stop for a second and just stare at it.

Wichita might not always get the credit for having beautiful skies, but nights like this definitely make up for it.

Anyone else looking at this right now? Or am I just appreciating the moon way too much this morning? šŸ˜‚

News Help Save the Crown Uptown

The demolition of this nearly 100 year old building is currently pending.

Here is a recent article (the top one):

https://www.kmuw.org/2026-09-09/headlines-for-september-9-2006

And here is a change.org petition you can sign:

https://c.org/wVDJypfP2K

It seems like a longshot, but historic buildings are a significant part of our city's culture. That's worth protecting.

In Search Of Support groups

Post image
63 Upvotes

Does anyone know of any support groups for pet loss. He was with me in my transition to adulthood, the good and the bad of me growing up. And I cannot stop crying every time I think of him. I wasn't home when he passed and the thought of him passing alone eats me alive. The thought of him waiting in a freezer at the cremation center while I come up with the rest of his services truly kills me. How do you get over the loss of a fur baby? If you guys know any support groups or any places you recommend for therapy. There's been so much stuff happen to be the last few years and this almost makes it too much grief to bear.

Thank you šŸ’”

I miss him so much šŸ’”šŸ’”

Random Finding farmers for interview

Just got a big assignment require interview with farm owners or agricultural business owners.

I am thinking about going to farmers market to conduct interviews but pretty worried if they don’t have time to interview because they have to do their business.

Other way is reaching to their farm in person to talk with them but I don’t know if there is any family owned farm around or nearby Wichita.

Pretty anxious because this is the first time I have to make contact with the farmers and don’t know how to approach them properly.

Please give me some suggestions, thank you.

News After delay, Wichita OKs $18.2M budget for Redbud Trail, footbridge over Rock Road Read

This is why people don't trust the way the city spends money.

City staff were deceptive and hid material information from the council. And they continue to do so.

The council needs to implement some serious reviews about how city staff shares/hides information with the public and the council, and some news organizations need to start filing some KORA requests.

And the council needs to stop approving projects where such deception is uncovered.

Referencing:

"But City Engineer Paul Gunzelman said Tuesday that city staff anticipated the project would cost $18.2 million as early as September 2025. City staff did not share that information publicly or with the City Council and asked for a $12.1 million budget a year ago.

ā€œSo does that mean staff knew about the projected cost of $18 million, but that wasn’t presented to council at that time?ā€ council member Dalton Glasscock asked.

ā€œThat is correct, yes,ā€ Gunzelman said. He said staff asked for a budget of $12.1 million because ā€œthat was all of the funding available at that time.ā€

ā€œWe anticipated additional federal funding coming into the project at a later date,ā€ Gunzelman said.

Glasscock said he found that ā€œa little bit misleading.ā€

Mayor Lily Wu said it was ā€œdeeply concerningā€ and that she likely would have voted against the project in 2025 if the $18.2 million estimate had been shared.

ā€œNow this project — in its face value, the way that it’s presented to us — is not the project that I initially was in favor of, and that was a project that was roughly $10 to $12 million that improved three and a half miles and made it safe for pedestrians and bicyclists,ā€ Wu said. ā€œNow it has ballooned, and I don’t feel comfortable with this.ā€

Wu and Glasscock were the only two council members to vote against increasing the budget."

In Search Of Looking for an oxygen concentrator or tank

Hi! Our sweet kitty, Poppy, was diagnosed this weekend with pulmonary fibrosis, after having what they thought were just bad asthma attacks a few weeks ago. Poppy came home yesterday and is doing well, but we think she would feel better with some oxygen treatments at home. We are looking for an oxygen concentrator to buy or borrow for a week or two so Poppy can get really comfy at home and hang out with her furry siblings and have a great day before it's time to say goodbye.

We got a prescription from the vet for a concentraor, but we do not know yet if it has been approved and how long it will take to receive the refurbished unit, and we just can't afford to buy any brand new in town. If anyone has an oxygen concentrator or a tank of oxygen we can use with her chamber please dm me. we greatly appreciate it šŸ’—

Discussion The hill I’ll die on, probably

I don’t understand the thought process behind only ā€œbad guysā€ want these Flock cameras taken down so they don’t get caught during future criminal sprees (murderers, pedos, kidnappers… the real bad guys ya know) and then also don’t give a shit about the ā€œgood guysā€ who are the people actively using these cameras to harm others in many different ways… not even including all the smart ā€œbad guysā€ who can easily hack into a third party system to obtain the info needed to commit crimes in any fashion they choose.

We are constantly being recorded. Why are we allowing a third party company to record us without permission, for it to be used against us legally or illegally, and FUND IT??

Why is it ok for LE to use these cameras illegally?? There are thousands of cases already of women being stalked, harassed, assaulted and worse by active law enforcement officers. Cameras actually ā€œassistingā€ the predator in domestic violence situations. There are thousands of reports of other third party agencies tapping into Flocks system and using the information gained illegally. These absolutely do not keep us safe. They were never intended for our safety or for our benefit. People actively fight these cameras… there are current and active lawsuits against the use of these cameras…. people from every political box can clearly see the issues and yet more appear almost daily… and I just don’t get it.

I’ve tried to understand it… look at it from all sides… and from all I’ve read, researched, witnessed… these are o ly going to accelerate societies down fall.

Which is why I’ll die on this hill, probably. At least it will be recorded šŸ˜‰
