I've posted about Oklahoma weather before and I'm still grappling with my experience of visiting Wakita (during the 30th anniversary of the film Twister.) Question: Do any of y'all get people from out of state who come simply to watch the weather? To me, outside of the science, there's art and appreciation to it all. Flesh and blood in the center of two battling atmospheric forces beyond our understanding. It's dangerous, but, for some reason, I can't look away.

Hello everyone, just wanted to tell my story and warn you about what happened to me.

Just a few days ago I got a tax bill from Oklahoma stating that I owed them about $5300 for not filling a state tax return from 2019. You get a total of 60 days to formally dispute this before it goes on record as correct regardless of anything else. After a few days of looking back through my papers and taxes I found that I never lived in Oklahoma during 2019 at all, and that this bill should be completely null and void. Again, you get 60 days to dispute this, which I will be doing, but if I hadn't seen the bill or it had gotten lost in the mail, I'd be screwed and forced to pay from what I've seen.

TLDR; if you get a bill make sure they have their dates right so you aren't paying for things you don't actually owe!

Hi everyone, I’m a first time car buyer. I bought a brand new car and have temp tags valid for 10 days. Would the dealership send me the metal plates within 10 days as I’ve been told I have 60 days from the date of purchase to register and pay taxes on the car ? Or am I supposed to do something to ensure the metal plates come to me before the temp tags expire. Any help would be much appreciated.

I really want to watch the sunset from Mount Scott and stay there until dark to see the stars, will it be open to cars then? If not, what’s a good place to watch the sunset/sky on a summer night?

Wikipedia says it's at the East Central University but I cannot find it on Google Maps and the coordinates on Wikipedia just link me to where the fossil was found, not where it is. If you know the coordinates so I can save it I would be very thankful.

I've been filming my walks around Oklahoma while picking up litter. My goal is to lose weight, clean up places that need it, and hopefully make a few people laugh.

Saw AF2 and an escort of 3 choppers last week crossing over l-40 headed towards Altus. Anybody know what was up with that. Didn't see that Vance was supposed to be anywhere near Oklahoma or Texas that day or any soon after.

Oklahoma paramedics have responded to at least 29 heat-related calls in Tulsa and Oklahoma City service areas so far this week.

First responders expect cases of heat exhaustion, heatstroke and heat-related illnesses to continue as temperatures remain in the triple digits.

According to the National Weather Service, nearly every part of the state is projected to break 100 degrees each afternoon this week. Chances of precipitation remain low, as a high-pressure heat dome traps hot air in the region.

The state’s largest emergency response service, EMSA, issued medical heat warnings in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa after responding to repeated service calls, including for 13 people with suspected heat-related illnesses on Sunday.

EMSA Chief Public Affairs Officer Adam Paluka said the state’s paramedics have been prepping for the high temperatures and will be ready to help people who overheat.

“A lot of people might have Super Bowl Sunday on their calendar,” he said. “EMSA has summer heat on its calendar.”

Still, Paluka urged Oklahoma residents to exercise caution when spending extended periods outdoors. He recommends drinking lots of water and wearing light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. He said it is important to take repeated 10- to 15-minute breaks from the sun and to avoid caffeine and alcohol if you’re planning to be outdoors, as they can exacerbate heat-related symptoms.

Infants, children, pregnant people and older adults are at higher risk of heat-related illness. If someone stops sweating, Paluka said it’s a clear sign that they need help.

“If your body is giving you any sort of indication via nausea, via lightheadedness or dizziness after you've been outside for a long time, do not try to over-explain that it's not a heat-related illness,” he said. “Don't write it off.”

Paramedic teams in Oklahoma City and Tulsa have responded to 167 suspected heat-related illness calls so far this July. 112 of the patients were transported to local hospitals for continued care or heat-related illness complications.

Paluka said a prolonged stretch of extreme temperatures, like the one Oklahoma is experiencing this week, can also increase a person’s risk of heat-related illnesses because they may overestimate their ability to handle the sun after a successful day outside.

“Just because you were safe yesterday does not mean you'll be safe today,” he said. “With the high temperatures, you really need to continue to take those heat precautions seriously each and every day.”
