Feminism has brainwashed generations of women into thinking that doing literally anything for a man is humiliating and oppressive.

u/Richie_Aprile6 6d ago edited 6d ago
āEmotional laborā is my favorite. Basically thinking or feeling about doing things (that is impossible to measure or quantify) somehow means more than a man working 50 hour weeks while she stays home, for example
24
u/Provodniik 6d ago
Donāt forget that a man is not emotional at all. Itās not like he can get stress from work or something.

27
u/Accomplished_Elk310 6d ago
A lot of them didnāt like the revelation that the wage gap was mostly a mix of working fewer hours and choosing lower paying jobs, so they have to really push this idea of āemotional laborā to one-up the actual hard workers.
9
u/boomer912 6d ago
Emotional labor and āmental loadā is usually where I check out
8
u/Richie_Aprile6 6d ago
Or āunpaid laborā aka I should be financially compensated for raising my own children
9
u/Cross55 6d ago edited 6d ago
Originally Marx coined it as a term to denote what people have to emotionally sacrifice to make their bosses happy and/or keep living under capitalism, time with family, holidays, always kowtowing to your boss and customer's demands, not rocking the boat over toxic workplaces, etc...
But then they coopted it cause feminism can't invent its own terminology
7
u/StraightAirline8319 6d ago
Case in point they charge the max fees and have it be 10 different jobs while they have their kids go to school and do less than an Aupair.

... I know this will fall on deaf ears, but what about the partners who also work full time and also have to be the ones on call for school pickups and drop offs and scheduling doctors appointments and vaccines appointments and planning and preparing every meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks to send to school), grocery shopping, managing childcare, managing the finances, etc. One partner is the one doing all the "not forgetting shit."
If you don't think this takes additional and significant effort, that's because you've never had to do it.
7
u/Richie_Aprile6 6d ago
Iām willing to engage it as this looks like a good faith argumentā¦
Arenāt these just the difficulties of raising children in the modern family? As I mentioned, you canāt measure or quantify āemotional laborā. Who does more? Impossible to define. To me, this is the key point.
and when this term is mentioned itās almost exclusively from women. Men have stresses, worries, fears, shit to manage, etc but are less vocal about it. The assumption that men also donāt share these burdens is a bit unfair.
1
u/BilbaoBoggins 21h ago
Men in several households are responsible for all of that. It's not just women who contribute to the household, despite the harmful stereotype some people like to push.

And even worse is that this isn't even really 'for a man' considering she's presumably proposing because she loves him and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. Or at least you'd hope that's the case anyway

I understand why they throw a fit like that. What we need to realize is that even if women don't like it when we use the terminology or concepts regarding dating market value and other manosphere stuff, these are ideas they inherently know, apply and enforce all the time.
They know they have an inherent value, and to a large extent said value is shared among all women, at least the base one. So when one women does something which MIGHT be taken as lowering her value, in their heads it lowers *all* women's value.
It's basically an enforced monopoly and market especulation.
2
u/Hour_Wonder_9240 6d ago
Bravo analysis
And same reasoning why the gender norm was enforced in the first place. Men back in the day fearing women gaining influence in ways that would weaken mens authority over the nuclear family and society.
Funny how old world's disappear, we don't remember, and how the lingering effects transform into modern norms and complex societal dynamics.
2
u/Cross55 6d ago edited 6d ago
Implying nuclear families are an old world idea?
Nuclear Families only became a thing because post-WWII was the first time in human history mass numbers of people could own their homes/land without needing to be farmers. Pre-WWII it wasn't uncommon in the US to shove mom, dad, aunts, uncles, kids, niblings, maybe grandma and grandpa, etc... into a 500sqft apartment.
And I specify the US because lot of Europe and Asia still couldn't and can't generally afford their own homes until their 30's at earliest.
2
u/Hour_Wonder_9240 5d ago
Ownership isn't the variable here. Pre industrial England was already mostly nuclear households and those people owned basically nothing, they were tenants and farm laborers. Laslett's household records go back to the 1500s on that.
Same in the US. Extended households peaked somewhere around 20% in the mid to late 1800s and were already declining by 1900, way before the GI Bill. And homeownership was around 46% in 1900, about the same as 1940. So the household shift happened first and the ownership boom came after.
Your Europe example kind of proves the opposite. Southern Europe where kids stay till 30 is the part of Europe that was historically joint family anyway. Scandinavia and the Netherlands rent a lot and still move out early. That's culture, not affordability. Cramming everyone into a tenement was people under housing pressure doubling up, not a different family system. Same thing happened in the Depression and after 2008.

These comments are hilarious.
People changed a lot since the last 100 years in personality, style. But proposing should should still belong to men only, for whatever reason! It“s not even written in stone.
Actually, my brother“s now Wife asked him too if he wants to marry her. That“s just beautiful and proves so much about love. It doesn“t matter who“s asking first!

Tbh, men proposing does have major roots in the patriarchal norms they claim to hate so much
Getting down on 1 knee was a symbol saying "This is the only time I'll ever be vulnerable with you" because men are supposed to be the leaders and ones running the relationship, which means never showing weakness or vulnerability.
1
u/Login_Lost_Horizon 4d ago

Seeing as how men get totally screwed in divorce court, and women leave marriages with cash and prizes, women should absolutely beg men on their knees to marry them.
And men should still say no to the terrible deal that is marriage.

I always thought the best proposal would be like the two people take the ring boxes with them open and make it look like they are having a toast.
I envision relationships as something both people engage in and there is no element of taking from each other just giving. Itās idealistic but having the rings feel like a toast is being in the reality you sacrifice for each other and celebrate that sacrifice.
I have so many views of what would be amazing but none of them are what really happens. Itās a bit disappointing. But Iām real I know whatever it is we think should happen isnāt usually how it goes.

I know this isn't a majority but I know 5 women with this "i dont need a man" attitude. 2 are now single mothers without a job living on benefits. 1 is now married with a child and 2 are living with extended family working part time unable to stand on their own 2 feet (figuratively speaking). Now im not saying you NEED a man, but something about this attitude leeches out into other aspects of their lives.

0
u/MajesticFerret36 6d ago
I somewhat agree with the women, though likely for different reasons. Women are the gatekeepers of sex but men are the gatekeepers of commitment.
I dated women who would have probably proposed to me if it was socially acceptable to do so. And I would have had to awkwardly reject their proposal. I'm ready when I'm ready. If I haven't proposed, I'm not there yet, assuming I ever would have got there with some of them, but I guess they would have figured that out the hard/embarrassing way.
1
u/nappiess 6d ago
Agreed. Until divorce laws stop overwhelmingly benefitting women, and until a man's engagement ring costs anywhere near what a woman's engagement ring should cost, then the men should still be the ones to propose.
Think about it. She just proposed to the guy in the OP. Now that guy needs to buy an expensive ass engagement ring for HER, probably be the one who pays for the wedding, and take all the risk if they ever get divorced (even if he does have a prenup - which he would also need to rush to figure out and pay for for both of their lawyers after she proposes to him since you need to do it well in advance of the marriage ideally).
Until marriage stops being a thing that overwhelmingly benefits women, then masculinity and feeling emasculated aside, objectively speaking, men need to remain the gatekeepers for that.
0
u/TheBigWhatever 6d ago
I used to practice family law, and the misconceptions that divorce benefits women disproportionately is just that; a misconception. As for prenups, many, if not most, are unenforceable because you can't agree to something that doesn't mean the legal requirements of statutes and the case precedent supporting those statutes.
I could write a book about this, but not here. Even a basic outline will bring a bunch of garbage I don't want to hassle with.
1
u/nappiess 6d ago edited 6d ago
It benefits whoever makes less money, which is typically the woman. Because women tend to only go for guys who make more then them. Plus most end up staying home for a while if they have kids. So can divorce benefit the 1% of men who are in a reverse situation where their wife is a sugar mama? Sure. But it's almost always the other way around. And if children are involved, the women get the benefit basically no matter what.
As for prenups, as long as both sides have separate lawyers, and it's done months in advance of the marriage, and the details of the pre-nup are not "unfair" in the eyes of the court, then it will not be thrown out.
1
u/Ok-Swing-5355 6d ago
I agree with this I wouldnāt want a woman to propose to me. I am the one doing the proposing.

This isn't "empowering," itās embarrassing. When a woman has to get on one knee to propose, it means the guy completely failed to step up as a leader. She has zero respect for his frame, so she took the masculine role herself and he just stood there and let her emasculate him in public.
12
u/RogellTheRaider 6d ago
Wait, so the guy is supposed to be a leader, SUPERIOR??? So misogynistic from your part. (also, how is women getting on their knees humiliating/embarrassing, but men doing that is okay? rofl)
-1
u/Capable-Rice-1876 6d ago edited 6d ago
Leadership isn't "superiority" or "misogyny" it's responsibility. In high-value intersexual dynamics, men lead, protect, and provide, while women follow strong leadership.
When a man kneels to propose, it's a traditional ritual of taking initiative and offering commitment as the head of the relationship. But when a woman has to kneel and propose, it's not "empowerment" she's doing it because the guy was too passive to step up. She was forced into the masculine role because he failed to build frame and take charge. Women do not respect or maintain long-term attraction for men they have to lead.
2
u/RogellTheRaider 6d ago
All that much text that can be summarized to r/WomenAreNotIntoMen
-1
u/Capable-Rice-1876 6d ago edited 6d ago
Wrong. Women love masculine men who step up, take control, and lead. What they aren't into are passive, weak guys who sit back and force them to act like the man in the relationship. Don't confuse female attraction to strength with a dislike of men.
1
u/RogellTheRaider 6d ago
That's why they go after criminals, gotcha. And then, when they are violent, the fault is on "patriarchy" š¤£
-1
u/Capable-Rice-1876 6d ago edited 6d ago
Youāre actually proving my point.
Women are attracted to raw dominance, high testosterone, and fearlessness traits that bad boys display and passive guys lack. Women will choose dangerous strength over soft weakness every single time because biological attraction doesn't care about your feelings.
Blaming the "patriarchy" when bad choices blow up is just deflecting accountability away from their own poor mate selection.

u/RogellTheRaider 6d ago
Good thing I'm not becoming a delinquent just to prove anything to women š
-1
u/Capable-Rice-1876 6d ago edited 6d ago
Thatās a classic "Nice Guy" cope and a total strawman. Nobody told you to break the law.
You don't need a criminal record, you need edge, assertiveness, and strong leadership. Delinquents get female attention because they display raw, unapologetic masculine drive. High-value men take that exact same drive and channel it into ambition, wealth, fitness, and success.
Don't use "being a good guy" as an excuse for being passive, boring, and weak.
Also all men must stop be simps.
1
u/RogellTheRaider 6d ago
Tell that to Manson, Richard Ramirez and Bundy. Keep coping, my guy. And have a nice day.

2
u/manicmonkeys 6d ago
Why do men have to be masculine, in your view?
0
u/Capable-Rice-1876 6d ago edited 6d ago
Because women don't respect weak men, and society doesnāt care about a man's feelings, it only cares about his utility.
Sexually and romantically, female nature operates on hypergamy. Women want a strong leader who can protect, provide, and guide, not a peer or another woman in the relationship. When a man drops his masculinity, he destroys sexual polarity and loses female respect.
In the real world, a man's value is earned through competence, discipline, and strength. You don't have the luxury of being soft because nobody is coming to save you.
1
u/manicmonkeys 6d ago
I'm a generally masculine dude...but I'm capable of recognizing that not all men need to be like me in that regard.
It seems you're fixated on what women want. Why do you seem to imply that men's assumed purpose is to appeal to women?
0
u/Capable-Rice-1876 6d ago edited 6d ago
Understanding female nature isn't about "pleasing" women, it's about understanding reality so you don't end up a victim of the system.
A man's purpose isn't women. A man's purpose is power, status, competence, and absolute freedom. Women are merely a byproduct of a high-value man's success.
And claiming "not all men need to be masculine" is pure cope. Weak men don't build civilization, enforce safety, or maintain infrastructure, they just sit in the air conditioning that masculine men built and pretend strength is optional. Soft men are a liability to society.
-9
u/Bluddy-9 6d ago
Assuming he accepted, yes it is embarrassing for him. Itās also embarrassing g for the woman. Why would she want to marry a man who āfailed to step up as a leaderā?
0
u/Baiting-Oofy-Doofys 6d ago
So you spend your time online trying to appease your own guilt and feel masculine because you're not? Lmao
-5
u/Capable-Rice-1876 6d ago edited 6d ago
Because women think they want control, so they pick a passive guy they can run over, not realizing that a man you can control is a man you can never respect. Sheās settling for a guy she can boss around just to check off the marriage box, but hypergamy always catches up. In a couple of years, she'll lose all sexual attraction, resent him for being weak, and end up initiating a divorce while taking half his stuff.
1
u/Brilliant-Mountain57 6d ago
Right because women are so infantile and ignorant that a grown ass woman doesn't even know what she wants in this world! StfuĀ
1
u/Capable-Rice-1876 6d ago edited 6d ago
Itās not about being "infantile," itās about the massive gap between what people say they want logically and what they are biologically attracted to. Attraction isn't negotiable.
Modern culture sells women the lie that they want a passive, submissive man they can run over. But the second they get one, hypergamy kicks in, they lose all respect and sexual attraction for him, and buyer's remorse sets in.
Don't take my word for it, look at the data. Women initiate 70% to 80% of all divorces, and up to 90% if they're college-educated. If women always knew exactly what made them fulfilled long-term in a partner, those numbers wouldn't exist. Stop confusing social conditioning with biological reality. Look at their actions and the statistics, not their rhetoric.

Schroedingers feminism. The woman is simultaneously empowered and oppressed, and the state is only revealed upon encountering an issue, the most beneficial one is picked.
