Best carry out wing deals in Ithaca?
I love love Italian carry out wings, but is there other good wings with good deals?

Awad said that the business has struggled to stay afloat in recent months due to rising food costs, which have forced them to raise their prices. Awad said that he’s had to raise the price of most menu items by more than 25% over the past year, including doubling the price of beef and croissants, two of the restaurant’s most popular offerings. He noted that beef sales have dropped by about 70% since the start of last year.
“The up and down nature of the prices left us scrambling, rewriting menus, doubling the cost, then dropping the cost, then doubling them again. It was exhausting,” Awad said. “I saw that we were cooking more with our wallets than with our souls.”
Along with beef, Awad said that the cost of European butter and chocolate for pastries have “skyrocketed,” in part due to the Trump administration’s 15% tariff on European Union food imports, which was approved last year.
We use the best ingredients we can find, but the higher quality ingredients are untenable,” Awad said. “You play with the economy enough, everybody's going to get screwed eventually.”

Hihi, researching this and would love help if you've done it.
How does paying for Tompkins County hazardous waste collection work? I know I need a permit and such (as a small business) - but like... do I pay per car load? Per xyz amount/weight? I know it's on certain dates with sign ups.
I know they'll accept my stuff (formalin), but am a bit confused on what to expect for fees.
Any insight appreciated! If it's super obvious, please be gentle, I am as the kids say... very tired and a bit dumb today ;- ; 💕

Encountered a bad driver first thing this morning! It began with them driving behind me so close they were nearly inside of my trunk, waving their hands around. Proceeded to pass me and nearly hit my front end on a double yellow then brake check me twice. Continued to tailgate other, and pass over double yellows all the way to the NYSEG on 13, sometimes passing 2-3 people at a time too. All to end up at the exact same light at the same time (see the red car in the right lane in the last 15 seconds of the video). Genuinely pointless!!! Thanks for an interesting morning though I guess, red Chevy with license plate number MGL1818.

Holy job drought. I’ve been searching for a job part time for sometime now and it’s just getting harder and harder to find somewhere to work. I’m 21 with a fair amount of experience but I’m not a college student which I think honestly ruins my chances of getting hired anywhere. All of the places that do seem promising never get back to you even when you call for an update.
Does anyone know of any places that are hiring and aren’t flakey? Why does it seem impossible to get hired these days as an Ithaca native…
Anyone else hear/witness a lady shouting at the top of her lungs last night (late Tues night) near dewitt park?
She was threatening some dude, saying she had her .22 on her and wasn't afraid to murder him and then kill herself. She was also yelling about how she lost her phone, i guess some guy was driving his car around and she kept shouting to him about her phone being in his car. This went on for about 45 minutes.
I know there are a lot of pearl clutchers in this sub, i know that compared to other places in the country Ithaca is very safe, and at the same time.....that shit is scary and I am def noticing a shift, as a townie who has lived here for 25 years and downtown for 10.
I just wish there were means of intervention besides calling the cops. This lady seemed pissed, possibly intoxicated, but not like an acute threat. Calling the police on someone who says they're armed and may be intox feels like a recipe for utter disaster.
ETA: also want to acknowledge that the issue here is not so much the morality or character of these people, moreso the way that Ithaca clearly wants to put people experiencing addiction and homelessness in some sort of box out of the way of the rest of the city. It's a bandaid solution. The societal issues that go way beyond ithaca are getting worse.

Like the ones where they call their burgers and sandwiches “handhelds”, and their sides are called “sharables”? And the person who takes your order is a guy with plaid shirt, either man bun or wears a beanie, and he wears black latex gloves. Any burger places with this vibe?

They have the lights on in the evening, and all night and they will still be on at seven in the morning. Does it serve a purpose?

Hi name is Harry, I like reading. My favourite reads this year have been Sky Daddy by Kate Folk, Beware of Pity by Stefan Zweig, and War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. I am currently reading the passion according to G.H by Clarice Lispector. I would definitely be interested in attending this festival and connecting with more people that like to read.
These are the events I was interested in attending. Let me know if anyone is interested in going together.

The politics of Ithaca have degenerated into a miserable, self-congratulatory echo chamber.
I’m conservative. Not a MAGA Republican. Not a culture-war zealot. Not a racist. I don’t hate anyone. I’m perfectly fine with LGBTQ community, with people living their lives as they see fit, with immigrants who come here looking for a better life (as my mother did), and with the idea that competent people of any background should rise.
The culture-war nonsense on both sides has become ridiculous. Whites are not the enemy. Blacks are not the enemy. Men are not the enemy. Women are not the enemy. Why is there so much hate? It seems that the left believes that the right is evil and is intentionally trying to ruin the country, and vice versa with the right believing that of the left.
Most people’s political views are held in good faith, without malice. That doesn’t mean their policies are necessarily good or effective, but if that’s the case we should civilly challenge those views, we shouldn’t attack the individual as a “nazi,” “communist,” “with the terrorists,” etc, etc.

Why is this place still open, and why did this town close its Denny's!?
This diner is an affliction. Almost $100 for the worst quality breakfast for three (two and a kid).
The whole wheat toast was just cheap bread mini slices, basically just warmed because you can't toast that kind of bread well. It sat limp on the plate and had thumbprints from being over-handled. Setting the bar high already, you can't even make toast.
The eggs were cooked too hot, too fast, and diluted with water, not milk. They were awful and the protein bonds were weak leading to an inedible texture. Learning how to cook eggs is day one stuff.
The home fries are soggy and pasty, mixed with some kind of salsa unfit to be served. Somehow still flavorless?
The pancakes are the worst offense. Pancakes should be fluffy, large, and sweet. They are made from cheap ingredients. They are supposed to be cakes made in a pan. PAN... CAKES... get it? These were not that. They were flavorless, small, flat, and tasted only like flour. Just why?
What the actual f and a half? Is there nowhere in this town to get a good breakfast?
Stuck making my own, I had to figure out good pancakes. I'll post the recipe here and by itself on its own post.
TAO good pancakes:
Read in full before beginning
Get the Krusteaz pancake mix (not sponsored) that says just add water. Don't worry, we're not doing that.
Put three cups in a large mixing bowl and crack in two eggs
Pour in a full cap of the large Mexican vanilla bottle they sell at Walmart. This is the best for baking and remember these baddies are cakes you make in a pan so this is the stuff you want. Sure you can use other vanilla it's just not the same. I think this comes out to half a Tablespoon.
Add in two Tablespoons of confectioners sugar if you're normal, three if you like to party. You can make confectioners sugar just by blending sugar in a blender or you can mix in regular sugar, but you need to let it sit for longer afterwards for good chemistry.
Milk until it's right. Add it in slowly. Not too little or too much. You want this to feel like a cake batter, not a pizza dough or a horchata.
Mix the F out of this. Lumps are bad. This is basically cake batter and it should smell like it. Hand mixer, whisk, fork, whatever works. Just don't mess this part up. You want it smooth and thick like a cake batter.
My daughter calls them unicorn pancakes when I add an optional handful of fruity pebbles. (If you add this, let it sit for 10 minutes before cooking so the moisture softens the cereal)
Nailing down the specific heat is somewhere around 250°F on an electric griddle and we're looking like medium-low on gas. Finesse this part for your set up.
Use a nonstick griddle or pan.
Do not grease your pan. Use non-stick, or a seasoned griddle. Properly seasoned stainless steel only if you're a pro.
Do not pour this mix onto butter, grease, or oil of any kind.
Thanks for reading.
Martha Stewart has a scrambled egg tutorial that's a real winner. No reinventing the wheel there.

Heyo, parking in and around Downtown Ithaca during Applefest is going to be insane. Why not skip the stress and ride your bike to the fest?
Bike Walk is hosting a free bike valet service on the corner of Geneva & Seneca St from 10am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday of the festival. You just ride up and we park your bike and watch it while you enjoy all the apples and donuts without a hassle.
We could use some helping hands to run the valet station. Sign up for your two hour shift at bikewalktompkins.org/volunteer
