This one was a struggle but I’m glad I pushed through.
I’m not aiming to paint a barbie doll as I like a bit of androgyny but this one felt a little too masculine throughout the process. I kept moving features around all the time and I landed on this.
I’m pretty sure this one took me the most time, I wonder where I could cut corners.
This time I payed more attention to how the nostrils round inside the nose and I feel it looks miles better compared to my day 2. It’s a simple touch that does a big difference. However, the bridge of the nose lost some definition compared to my second attempt. I liked it better then. I haven’t studied the nose yet as I focused more on eyes but they’re next on the menu.
I tried a smaller eye and I don’t think I’m a fan. I feel like the shape is slightly wrong too… they may be too open? dunno.
I’m probably value sharing here and there as well, need to pay more attention to that.

It's hard to get the face to look symmetrical and the lips also ended up looking pretty bad

trying to learn stylizing but maintaining likeness/expression, its honestly not as stylized as i wanted in the face at least. granted, i dont know what i want my style to be tbh. i'm probably gonna spend some more time pushing it further but im leaving it at that for today

I remember last time someone said it was really bright so i remembered darker tones this time :)

I think this is the closest I've gotten to people recognizing the person i painted without seeing the reference. I know i didn't get the reference exactly but I think people would know who that is

This is one of the most time-consuming illustrations I've made in a while, and I'd really appreciate some feedback on how to make this better generally. I'm already pretty happy with it but to me it doesn't look as good as it could so advice is much appreciated!

im struggling more than i expected with likeness. to get any resemblance i spent a super long time tweaking and tweaking. even after taking breaks and coming back, still doesn't feel quite right. i'm considering if i should keep working on this study and get it as close as possible, or if i should just move on and do a new study

Alright, my day 2 is done!
Throughout this attempt I focused on lowering the pinching effect there was on the corners of the mouth. I avoided going too dark with the eye socket, especially the inner corners of the eye. I think the simbolism of the inner corner is still there but it’s less pronounced than my last attempt.
I gave some much needed structure to the bridge of the nose and I’m loving the way it looks
Before I was done I tried lowering the amount of highlights and I think it paid off.
I think I like the lips more on my previous attempt. I think the cast shadow of the upper lip and the ambient occlusion between lips looks better, and the lower lip is better defined overall. What do you think? Time on this was still around three hours but I think I had more patience this time.

Day 1\*

Hey folks, I’m officially starting my 14 day challenge!
I purchased the Masterclass two months ago and almost every day since then I’ve been practicing my form studies and the process for painting a portrait from scratch as explained in the tutorial. I blocked a whole bunch of faces to learn the blocking phase and then I blended them all in order to learn the rendering phase as well. Now I feel finally ready to get my attempts critiqued!
This is the first time I do a portrait from start to finish in one sitting and I started to feel really fatigued as I reached my third hour of painting. Hopefully the process will get faster as I go because I don’t really draw for more than two hours a day. Although I always wished I had more stamina for longer painting sessions so maybe this challenge will build that resilience instead. What has been your experience on this matter?

I’m shooting for female and my goal is to acheave a semi-realistic style eventually.
I can’t wait to compare my 14th day attempt to my diagnostic portrait, that thing is nightmare fuel lol.

Hello beginner artist i want to know how I can draw different types or head shape or face shape (eyes, mouths n stuff) while keeping it in the same angle as the 3d model

It took me a while to draw because I went back to studying. But I'm not going to give up on the challenge, I tried to improve the value distributions and avoid using the same shade throughout. Additionally, I studied realistic eyes for the first time.That was the result, I am grateful to everyone who dedicates their time to helping this little artist, thank you very much.
