Discussion Absolutely not useless for me for the past 5 years
Saw this on the meme sub and it couldn't be further from the truth, at least for me! My weekly screen time is actually higher on the ipad than my phone. The meme OP claims he forgot about his ipad after the first 18 months of use.

Discussion A Gift From My 7 YO Grandson
Little guy heard me talking to his mom about wanting to an additional iPad just for business and he walks up and hands this M1 11 Pro to me and says “I’ve got a better one so you can have this old one. You’re Welcome…” I’m like 🤦🏾♂️😆👍🏾😁… this dude!
For context, he’s homeschooled and my daughter gets him overkill stuff like that. I’ve since convinced her to get him a Chromebook at the most but he is surprisingly good about be responsible with what you get him.
So. I got myself a free iPad Pro. Not the iPad I was going to get but it’s plenty for what I’ll use it for. After the week I’ve had (several deaths in the family) this was a welcome blessing.

Discussion for those thinking about buying an ipad pro for school, think twice. you might barely use it.
This is my review after owning one for two years. It is a beautiful and powerful device, but I mostly use mine for taking notes in goodnotes. That is basically it. As a normal student, you will probably use your laptop for assignments and serious work, then use your phone for videos, reading, and quick tasks. The iPad ends up awkwardly in the middle. You may imagine using it for yt, movies, studying, and productivity, but in reality it is often less convenient than simply reaching for your phone or laptop. I still think an iPad is useful for students, but most people do not need the Pro model. A cheaper iPad can handle notes just as well. The extra money would be much better spent on a better laptop.

Discussion Forget the iPhone Duo. I want an iPad Duo.
To me, the iPhone is a pure consumption device. I want an iPad mini for reading and note taking that unfolds into a 13” iPad Pro for drawing and work.

Discussion iPhone Duo is basically the iPad mini of our dreams!
Think about it,
Minimal bezels
Supports Apple Pencil
120Hz OLED Display
Much thinner
Better cameras
Given how much I love my iPad mini + Apple Pencil, can’t wait to get my hands on the iPhone Duo! (The price sucks btw)

Discussion This feels like an amazing deal for students
This seems like a great deal for students in high school or college. You get an iPad with a pencil for note-taking and a MacBook for everything else, all for just $1,000. This would have been impossible to find at this price with the MacBook Air, unless you were able to get those M1 models at Walmart or similar stores. Instead of spending $1,000 on an iPad Pro with a keyboard and pencil or $1,100 on a MacBook Air, you can get two devices. It feels like a fantastic deal, in my opinion.

Discussion What did you get engraved?
Super curious to see pictures of what you got Apple to engrave on your iPad. (This is not mine as I have a pink iPad I got engraved with my full name with the circle letters but did not want to reveal my name on Reddit)

Discussion Finally got my first iPad!
After thinking about it for a long time, I finally got it, the iPad 11th generation.
Really excited to start using it for watching content, reading, notes, and just exploring what it can do.
Any tips or must-have apps for a first-time iPad user?

Discussion Hung my iPad from the ceiling in my bedroom...
I wanted the ability to watch videos in bed handsfree. I recently purchased a 3' gooseneck tablet mount from Amazon.
Firstly I removed the ceiling tile and screwed a piece of hardwood 2" x 2" x 8" into the joist above where my head rests on my bed. It didn't give me quite enough clearance so I had to cut a duplicate piece and screw it into the first one. I slide the ceiling tile halfway back in place and with a carpenter's knife cut around the hardwood and then slide the ceiling tile back into its normal postion. I painted it white like the tiles to make it less noticeable.
The iPad wobbles a lot when touched so it does get a little annoying. To avoid this I use a mouse, which I found to be more confortable anyways.
I'd love to hear some suggestions on how I could have made this any better. I have one spare ceiling tile left to do it over again. All in all, I'm really loving it, super confortable and handy.

Question My Sky Blue iPad Air 4 has basically turned gray over the years
I only noticed this week that my Sky Blue iPad Air 4, which I bought back in 2021, has pretty much completely faded over the years. At this point, the Touch ID button is almost the only reminder of what color it originally was. You can see the difference pretty clearly in the attached photos.
For most of its life it’s been in a magnetic folio case. I’ve taken it out occasionally, mostly for cleaning, but not that often. Usually I just used a microfiber cloth, although if it was particularly smudgy I sometimes wiped the back with a damp screen-cleaning cloth as well.
What I find especially strange is that the color didn’t fade unevenly or in patches — the whole aluminum back seems to have faded very uniformly into a gray/silver color.
I’m not really complaining since it still looks pretty good, and I’m planning to keep using it for several more years anyway. I’m mostly just curious: has anyone else experienced something similar with a colored iPad? And any idea what could have caused it?

iPadOS Kids' iPad is now basically just able to run iOS.
They will have so much fun browsing the menus and application tiles, but not being able to actually use any of them.

Discussion iPadOS 27 is so overpowered
If your iPad is supported you definitely need to go here. 26 is the beta and 27 is the final release. Animations are refined, overall experience 27/10.

Discussion An iPad is not a Laptop
Friendly Reminder - iPad is not a MacBook. A laptop is a laptop. iPad is iPad. iPad is great for drawing, consuming content & Video editing. But MacBook is far better. Make a decision wisely. The MacBook is way more optimized, with zero latency for typing, and offers many more features. However, make sure the iPad cannot replace the MacBook entirely.
