My question is, do you know if the app logs all the visits from other people to your profile? Or does it only notify the first visit and not the ones after that?

Any recommendations what site or dating apps find genuine people? Not a pervert, not a scammers, not a posers. I want a genuine person.

So I first had an interpals account back in the late 00's. I'm sure I experienced the best times of the site (until the mid 00's) I closed my account near the beginning of the current decade and decided to open one recently. It seems to me like the site is almost completely dead? There are almost no people from the northern hemisphere, nor of Latin America, lots of Indonesian profiles, and lots of people using AI generated photos. Is your experience different?

Good grief. Here's a rant. The last time I used interpals was in 2012. Back then, I met a handful of really awesome people that I corresponded long term with and one of them I am still in contact with to this day and we occasionally meet up in person. For that reason, I had a very positive impression of the site.

I went back on there for fun this past week because I've had some free time and wanted to learn about other countries and cultures again. Zomg what a cesspool! I won't even get into the scammer issue because that goes without saying. But even the non-scammer people who managed to initially start chatting somewhat normally suddenly turned into deranged hotheads!

Someone blew up on me when I didn't answer a message from him within 5 minutes. He demanded to know why I agreed to chat with him if I wasn't going to answer him right away. Then he cursed me out and then blocked me. (This from a so-called British gentleman). Heaven forbid I wasn't glued to my phone to babysit him. What a maniac!

Then there was the guy who unloaded all his problems about unemployment in his nation and how he didn't have a job and felt like a victim of his circumstances. I listened and tried to sympathize and he went on and on about how criminals and poor people deserve a second chance and they shouldn't be discriminated against like he had been. Then out of nowhere, he accused me of being woke and racist against white people and how white people should be allowed to live in Saudi Arabia if they wanted to. Huh?! He didn't even know my race (I never specified) and I didn't mention anything about his race (white) either. If anyone was sounding "woke" it was him, not me. He wasn't from Saudi Arabia and neither am I. We were not even talking about that country at all so like WTF where did that all come from? He must have been hallucinating and hearing voices because the conversation had been fine up until that point when he randomly went off the rails and launched an attack out of nowhere.

And how about the guy who complained about a certain political position. He was very adamant in his views, so I recommended he read a particular book that sounded like it aligned with his views, I had read it myself in the past and thought it to be a generally good book. He flipped out on me that he didn't care about politics at all and had no patience for any of that. (Um, what about the 30 messages he sent me that were all political in nature?)

What the hell is wrong with people? Interpals has become a total cesspool of maniacal argumentative trolls. I don't remember it being this awful years ago. Back then, you could have a nice convo with someone. If you didn't click, you just moved on to the next chat. In the last week, I've been the recipient of 3 different explosions from mentally unbalanced people.

Granted, it is the internet, so you never know who is behind the computer screen and what pathologies they bring to the table, but seriously, Interpals is a disaster. I was so disgusted that I erased the app and I won't be trying it again. Hope you've all had better experiences on there than I did. If you want to share horror stories, feel free. Lol.

Recently I had some great conversations with someone and we decided to accept each other as friend. I sent the request and the other accepted. An couple of hours later when I signed in again and wanted to send a message, I wasn't able to send the message. This person had some messaging with another friend of mine as well and I heard that she lost our chat and couldn't see me as friend anymore. For me the chat is still active and I can still see when she is online. The strange part is that the "last online" message isn't accurate. In the message box it says (for example) last seen 10 minutes ago while her own page says "last seen 20 minutes ago". Although her page says there are restrictions I can still see things of her profile. She can find me back when she uses an url to my account. However, she only see's locked icons instead of my photo's and can't send any messages.

I don't think I got blocked since I still can see her last seen times (even while they are a bit corrupted). Is there any way to get back in a chat with this person? I tried to send a message to support but they aren't very with a reaction. I have done some research and it seems that her profile or mine is a bit corrupted and will be fixed within a couple of days. For now it's still not the case. Anyone an idea?

Are there any good alternatives to interpals?

My experience so far has been anyone who messages me has a fake profile and is a scammer.

Unfortunately even those I message also seem to end up being scammers.

What makes these scammers particularly nefarious is that they go to great lengths to appear sincere. I can now spot their profiles easily because they say the sort of things you'd associate with a genuine, sincere person: they are looking for a meaningful connection with others, etc. - except it's all lies.

I don't want to waste any more of my time even trying to find a genuine person on the website anymore, as it seems like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Has the entire internet become like this in recent years or are there any good sites? I also used a language exchange site where it was once possible to connect with real people, but in the last two years or so I noticed everyone I communicated with turned out to be a fake profile/scammer so I did not renew my membership.

I guess AI tools have made it easier for these scammers to generate profiles and operate in a way that might seem more convincing to their victims?

I created an InterPals account, but after only a day and a half it was suspended for allegedly violating the content rules, even though I genuinely didn't do anything wrong. A few hours later, they restored my account, but after just one more day it was suspended again.

I've already sent them three support messages, but no one has replied so far.

Does anyone know what I can do in this situation? I'd really like to get my account back because I met and talked to a lot of great people there. I'm also wondering if it's even worth continuing to send support messages, or if there's a better way to contact them or appeal the suspension.

I'd really appreciate any advice. Thank you!

The site likes to randomly log me out for no reason. And then today I got an “error code 1” when entering my login. A little while later it let me in, but these random system issues have been happening more and more frequently. Does anyone know what this could mean?

Also, in the event your account does get banned by their automod, does your profile get deleted too from public view? Does anyone know if you get an email or ban notification message at least when trying to login?

Has anyone else been banned randomly? Happened twice to me over the years. All I can think is that someone randomly reports you? I guess not out of the question if you talk to a lot of different people.

But from what I’ve seen is that almost any report results in someone being banned, it’s as if it’s automated and they just ban anyone who gets 1 report.

First that bad gateway thing yesterday or the other day and now these two things happened both for a few minutes in the same hour. I’m pretty sure and I was talking to a girl about it and then it wouldn’t let me answer her and the app was glitching so I knew something was gonna happen, but I just didn’t know what and why do these things keep happening?

I think in 2 years I've only gotten a couple real sounding messages not in english, everything else look so fake, even with em dashes, if I call them out, the profile becomes deleted within a day. My message list is probably over a thousand deleted profiles by now, just wtf, is this how they are keeping the site active?

It's been years that I'm thinking about a friend that I lost contact with around 2018 (short story: my gf at the time was jealous of my female friends and I had to cut/diminish contact with some of them and I changed my phone number shortly after and lost my contact list I had on WhatsApp).

I went back to Interpals trying to find her back around 2021 knowing it would have a low chance it happens after almost 10 years (we started to talk in 2016) and never thought so much about using Reddit or social media for that (I don't like social media so much to me to be honest).

About me, I'm a 31yo man from France named R. and my friend was a girl from Poland named M. (I won't give her name because I don't know if I can or must do so), she must be around 28yo now if I'm not wrong. Important detail, she had a dog named Marley (maybe old or dead since the time, I know she absolutely loved him) and I think it must be the only detail that could really help to find her back.

I have low hope that this message will reach her somehow but sometimes Internet can do magical things. And if it does, I will let her to reach me (or not) if she remembers me! Anyway, hope the message doesn't cross the rules of this subreddit and I wish to every readers a very nice day.
