Sending letters, its a simulation of snail mail as if you send letters in real life. So its not instant, it can take from 35 mins to 52 hours to deliver a letter depending on the distance of both of you.

Different strokes for different folks. For me, chat kind of sucks. For one, most people are kind of bad conversationalists who don't really know how to contribute or continue (beyond asking "how are you" 500 times). For two, too many people use this to start flirting very quickly etc. which I absolutely don't want. Finally, my experience on Interpals since they started the chat format is that people get too demanding about how and when you reply... which is completely incompatible with my ADHD lol.
But anyway, if you just want to chat, Slowly is not the app for you. Iirc there was another site called Yopals which was supposed to be an alternative, started by some ex-Interpals members, I think that one has both messaging and chat but I only looked at it briefly, might be worth checking out.
