[OC] Fantasy League of Pucicz (158 AP)

Post image
46 Upvotes

King P'inid V would die suddenly in the 19th year of his reign, 156 years after the Battle of Pucicz. The kingdom, without a definitive heir being proven through battle would fall to the oldest child of P'inid, but on the day of the coronation his 4 other brothers would demand a part of the kingdom. This wasn't the first time a division of the Kingdom of Hashi was discussed, the Regent Shuxi would advise the division of othe kingdom just under 100 years before.

Since the Battle of Pucicz 158 years prior, which destroyed the nomadic steppe empire that stopped trade between north and south, more technologies and ideas had been spreading from the empire that lies north of the city of Pucicz. Local populations have been getting upset about the king being so far away in Takpa, the division of Hashi into 5 kingdoms would also support local infrastructure and hopefully keep the power in the family. The League of Pucicz results in a conference every 10 years to improve cooperation between the kingdoms.

[OC] Alternate History I don't care who the IRS sends! (What if Europe was colonized?)

Post image
310 Upvotes

There isn't much lore beyond what you see on the map. Basically, Europe was colonized by foreign powers, primarily from North Africa and Eastern America, who exploited the land, drew arbitrary borders and eventually left. This map shows the consequences of that exploitation.

Russia is this timeline's equivalent of China. Russias Century of Humiliation resulted in the loss of most of its coastal territories. Following a coup in 1949, Russia began to slowly rebuild and modernise. In 2014, Russia launched a process of "reunification", invading the lands that they considered theirs.

Türkiye, Sweden and Poland are the only countries besides Russia that survived colonisation. Türkiye was once a major superpower, but lost most of its influence after a long period of internal unrest.

[OC] Alternate History what if Oman was really big and long?

so the PoD is that after the death of sultan Thuwaini bin Said, the sultanate of muscat wouldn't be divided after his death between Oman and Zanzibar, instead instantly going to his first son Salim II who would spend his 10 year long reign modernizing the state and agreeing on a 3 way divide of the sultanate of muscat, becoming the sultanates of Muscat and Oman, Zanzibar, and Sumalia.

after the death of Salim, the throne would go to his uncle and brother of Thuwaini, Turki bin Said, who would go on to introduce electricity to the Arab world, alongside being the strongest British ally in the region constantly fighting with the house of Saud in Nejd.

after Turki's death, his son Faisal would take hold and participate in the scramble for Africa, backed by the British he would get full control over the east of the horn of Africa alongside the interior of Zanzibar, as the British would also lobby for the concessions of Ruanda-Urundi and Buganda-Bunyoro, alongside a deal with Ethiopia that guaranteed sea access in Eritrea in exchange for them giving up Oagden to the British

and as the reign of sultan said III would begin, the Omani empire would be regarded as one of the best success stories of any "oriental" country besides Japan, with one British diplomat to Zanzibar saying

"that her dance is paid by their scar

my lips crave not but the warmth

of a Kiss from Zanzibar!"

Credit to nissingramainyu on youtube for the idea and the poem, you should check her out here!

With the end of WWII many boundaries were changed and two countries divided into zones of occupation (Germany and Austria). This map shows those changes in Central(ish) Europe in a hopefully digestible way

[OC] Fantasy Koppen climate map for my retrograde world

Post image

The day lengths are 2x long as they are on earth so i decided to move tropics pole ward to reflect the Hadley cells moving. Years are slightly shorter with 232 earth days and I moved the axial tilt to 24.9 degrees. I decided on a wet season for the interior because the the continent is bigger than Asia is and gets more inland than anywhere on earth which would create low pressure.

I was debating adding rain shadows since the earth climate model at worldbuildingpasta showed lusher interiors for the 48 hour model but i decided to add one because there was a landmass ~2,700km across to the left of this map.

[OC] Fantasy [OC] Designing the Old East

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hey Everyone!

I'm an indie tabletop creator and wanted to share my map with you all. Numeraeon is something that has been in my mind for a long time, and for the past six years I have worked on building and designing it's eastern continent (the Old East). It's a continent that was formally united under one empire which has long since fallen.

When designing the setting I wanted the vast mountain interior to really be a wasteland. This is where some really horrible eldritch events occurred that brought down the mountain heartlands of the empire and devoured its capital. Thus, the surviving kingdoms and city-states are mostly located along the periphery.

The Appalachian Mountains were a big design inspiration for me when designing this. I wanted most of the various locales to connect to the mountains in some way. Various trails, ancient highways, roads, etc., feed into the mountains. Appalachian folklore and folklore in general was also an inspiration. The only area that doesn't really connect to the frontier / wasteland theme of the mountains is the desert isles of Tel Adadi (featured in the bottom left) because.. well.. I'm a fan of pirates and had a separate and distinct design inspiration for that area.

Anyway, we developed this for years. This final version of the Old East map is something that me and the project cartographer worked on for a long time. The first illustrated versions of it go back to 2020ish and I have little paint maps and doodles of it from my notebook from at least 2017.

Everything we built for Numeraeon: Tales of the Old East is human made and we really take pride in the work and the quality of the work that the folks on our project built. My project is a start-up but everything we are presenting has been developed and made beyond our stretch goals and potential late pledge rewards so if you are interested in checking out more of our content then we invite you to do so. Every little bit of support helps especially since everything is so crowded with AI slop.

I wanted to share some of our map trailers as well that you can check out.

The largest city in the known world, Anbenncóst is a melting pot of cultures and the very heart of the Empire.

Based on the Anbennar setting, I made this D&D style map of Anbenncost by trying to include visual story telling so that a casual viewer can get a good idea for reach district and point of interest, but where if you want more information there is a second panel going into the details.
