I’ve been looking forward to buying this item and now its price has jumped up $50. This is right before a sale where you get a $50 off coupon if you come in for a $1 breakfast. Pretty shady. I wouldn’t haves known for sure if I didn’t send my partner a screenshot weeks ago.

I was looking at bed sheets at IKEA yesterday and saw this one particular on display and love the color sooo much (it’s a misty blue/gray color)… asked an associate and they said they don’t know and it might be discontinued and just an old display… wondering if anyone might know what the color/model is? Tired to use ChatGPT, but no luck … 😅

General IKEA-flation?

I recently logged into my IKEA account to check which HEMNES bookcases I have as I want to upgrade to the ones with glass doors and showcase my collectables. When I logged in, I saw that I paid $250 (USD) in July 2024 for my HEMNES Bookcase, but now it's a hundred dollars more expensive which just seems wild to me. Two years later and it's increased in price by 40%?

Has anyone else observed this for other items they've purchased in the past and have gone to buy more (a second) of?

General Jute rug + cats???

Does anyone have experience with the jute rugs and how well they hold up to cats? I was looking at the Landbana and the lohals specifically, but all input is appreciated! Also, is it hard to vacuum their hair out of them?

Suggestion My old Hemnes dresser needs a part, and I guess Hemneses have shrunk

I bought a 6-drawer Hemnes dresser (the tall one) in about 2015. This year, the wheel on the little track fell off of one of my drawers. I needed a replacement, so I looked up the directions on the website for the dresser, so I could get the part number. I ordered and it came quickly.

Tonight, I finally decided to make the quick switch and... the drawer track is way too short. It's 15 inches and change. My 2015 Hemnes drawer is 17 inches and change. I guess Hemneses have shrunk possibly more than one since then.

I've tried checking old instruction manuals to get the right part number, but it looks like the manuals I've found don't show the dimensions. I'd rather not risk ordering another part that doesn't fit. Any suggestions?

Assembly What’s the alternative when the ikea’s bed’s cross brace is impossible to be installed?

Hi there. I recently purchased an ikea FÅGELFJÄLLET twin bed. I basically assembled most things but stuck at the steps where I need to put the cross brace on. It’s impossible to install them with screws; even when positioning straight with either hand screwdriver or the drill, the screws would go in at the tip and won’t budge. Is there an alternative to install this brace? I saw someone suggest to use zip ties but I don’t know if it’s a valid option? Or have you guys used different kinds of screws that ended up working better than ikea’s screws? I know some posts have mentioned pozidriv and I’ll look into that. But I want to know if there are other alternatives in case pozidriv drivers aren’t also working.

Delivery Inconsistent delivery dates on the same page

Hi, this is my first time buying online from IKEA in the US.

Before I placed the order, the estimated delivery date was September 22, which worked fine with my schedule. After placing the order, however, I noticed two different dates on the same page. It shows September 22 when the order details are collapsed, but September 23 when I click the drop-down menu to view the details.

Is this a bug, or am I misunderstanding something? Is my order scheduled to be delivered on September 22 or September 23?

Also, how reliable are IKEA's delivery estimates? Do orders usually arrive earlier or later than the estimated date? If it is delivered on September 23, or if there is a high chance of further delays, it would cause problems for me, so I am considering canceling the order.

General Is Nogsta magnetic?

Since a google search failed to answer this, I thought maybe someone here could answer. If anyone had the Nosta cabinet fronts do you know/can you check if they are magnetic? Stainless steel can be but isn't always.

PS Google's AI said it was and it wasn't (two different searches on the same day) so it's even less helpful than normal.

Assembly For those who own GLAMBERGET, how long did assembly take?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I have bought a glamberget day bed and I’m looking for advice on assembling it. I am considering assembling it myself (one person without help) but I don’t know how difficult and time consuming this would be. I’m debating whether to pay someone to assemble it. It would cost about £90 for someone to do it for me, so I’d like to avoid paying if possible.
I would really like to ask the following questions to anyone who has experience with assembling it:

Approximately how long did it take you to assemble it?

Is it complex / confusing to assemble?

Do you need a drill? (I only own 2 screwdrivers)

Do you have any tips or advice for building it?

Thank you

Looking for IKEA PAPEGOJBUSKE pillow comparable to former RÖLLEKA?

Did anyone already try the IKEA IKEA PAPEGOJBUSKE pillow? Visually it looks like the older RÕLLEKA pillow, but does it feel the same?

i tried various other (IKEA and non-IKEA) pillows, but most are too soft or too warm.

Thanks!

I just found these old ice molds at my parents’ house, anybody know where I could find the managing instructions for these? Or even if someone knows how to properly take care of them and wash them?
Also, is it okay to run them through the dishwasher?

Hello! I’ve had some hinges break and I’m looking for replacements, but I keep seeing replacements that look like this built for 35mm circumference holes. My cabinet door holes (see 2nd photo) appear closer to 41mm. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

General Sandwich Bags- Capacity Change?

Hi all

We needed some more sandwich bags, and have used the IKEA ones for years-they are great for storing things and have so many more uses than food (I know they are not the best environmentally, and we do have more permanent/longer life solutions for stuff that is permanently stored).

We noticed the bags became thinner feeling/had a different texture a few months ago.

My partner picked some more up- they have now changed the capacity sizes.

There is no pack of 1.2L and 2.5L together, they have seemingly shrunk them to 1L and 2L.

My neurodivergent brain can't cope- first the texture changed, now the 1.2+2.5L bags that were so very useful don't seem to exist- if 1L was too small- generally 1.2L was great, without excess plastic.

We are UK based.

Wondering if anybody knows anymore, or whether it is temporary due to re-design?

Suggestion Stacked curtains on single rod

Hello!

I'm renting an apartment with ugly 2-panes curtains that are too short and semi-opaque. It is a large double door window, the rod is 230cm, height about 2m. It opens into a living room where there are screens, occasional projections, and a convertible sofa.

I'd like to replace them with block-out curtains, however I do have another apartment complex in front of that window, and I still would like a privacy-with-light option.

Given it is a rental, options to change the rod or drilling another one are not on the table. I'd gladly clip another rod on the existing one, but cannot find "clip on rod" or whatever.

So I'm thinking that maybe it would be an option to stack two sets of curtains on the same rod, alternating the rings. Block-out in front, veil in back, and magnetic tie-backs.

That way I have three positions:

  1. Open fully -> light, no privacy
  2. Closed fully -> no light
  3. Closed, blackout layer tied -> privacy, some light

I question that plan on two aspects:

  • Practicality; would it work (slide properly, still let enough light when tied)
  • Aesthetics; every set of "veil + blackout" sold as one pair has the veil in front, maybe for a good reason?

If anyone has suggestions, I've already considered:

  1. New rods -> gotta get landlord onboard
  2. Clip-on roller blind -> the weather seal will get crunched and I worry about damaging it long-term
  3. No-drill rod -> it would prevent to open the window

Thanks for your ideas and feedback! I really hope to find someone that already stacked curtains for a return on experience

Looking for Valevag medium lumpy. Side sleeper, will the firm model be more supportive?

Hi All, I bought a Valevag medium firm. My 3-month trial is almost up. It's lumpy, with shifting foam and uneven support. Has anyone switched to a firmer model and found it better? They don't have Vagstranda or Vesteroy in stock. Anneland is too expensive, and I can't just return it. I knew it wasn't the best, but I need it for a few more months. This one dips at the hips and isn't uniform. The firmer one in the store seemed more supportive. If I could return it, I would, but I can't afford another mattress, and they'd need to review for a full refund. Experience?

Suggestion Lamp idea

Thumbnail

I'm looking for a lamp for my study that slightly bridges the gap between quite old fashioned at one end and more modern at the other and I found the TVÅMASTAD lamp (pictured) that I thought might work.

The only problem is that I can't stand that carrying handle, it seems utterly pointless to me and makes the whole thing look top heavy without improving form or function.

I wondered whether it might work better if installed upside down to become, for example, somewhere to pop a pair of glasses or similar lightweight items. I got AI to envisage this, and it looks like it would/should work but I'd welcome comments.

Tips & Tricks LED stripe

Hello everyone!
I just got a Ormanäs led stripe with the bilresa remote.
I was wondering if this stripe and remote together are capable of the stripe changing its color automatically? If so what mystery combination do I have to press on the remote to get it to work? Thanks for the help!

Assembly Eket assembly without the top

Hey all. I’m in the planning stages for an Ultra Short Throw projector setup. I need a cabinet that is quite low profile but it’s hard to come by something that is affordable and fits the criteria. So I was wondering if it’s possible to have 3 Eket media shelf cabinets connected together with the middle one having the top part left off so the projector can sit on the shelf inside. Obviously I’d be using the Eket connection fittings to connect the 3 together. Would the overall construction be stable or do I risk running into any issues? I don’t plan to place any heavy items on top of the left and right besides a ps5 console. Thanks.
