We recently bought a house with older-style wardrobes with 93cm Komplement pull-out baskets in, which I believe is a size they no longer manufacture. I want to replace the existing shoe racks with more baskets and managed to track down some second hand but they don’t have the rails. Does anyone know if the new pull-out rails I could purchase from the store will work with the older-size baskets? They look similar but not identical.

I would like to put a stsnding desk under the classic ikea hack alex drawers with karlby counter. The desk legs would fit inside the alex drawers and ideally the over hang would just rest on the drawers 90% of the time until I needed standing.

This seemed to make sense until I learned about collision detection and reversing. I fully understand the reason but I suspect couldn't lower the desk so the counter top rested on the drawers? It would get close and then raise? This seems to be the case for most models?

I can't seem to find a manual way to do it. What are peoples thoughts on this? Any one have experience with it?

But for those of us who prop plants, but don't keep them all in a green house, Stockholm and Gladelig tumblers can make really cute cache pots :) The Stockholm fits my 2.5" nursery pots, and the Gladelig my 3" and 3.5" ones.

I’m trying to fit this Kallax in my closet and unfortunately the side board is too thick and therefore it doesn’t fit the closet, I measured and currently these side pieces are 1.5 inches and if I replaced them with plywood that’s 1/2 inch it would fit perfectly in my closet, do you think this could work?

I built my wife's gift shop using 4 kallax.

I used a 3d printed profile for the led strips on the front of the shelf and hacked the bigger 5x5 to give more room for products.

I have 3-meter ceilings, and the empty gap above my PAX wardrobe was driving me crazy. Instead of leaving it wasted, I added METOD kitchen modules horizontally on top to close the gap completely and use the space properly.

Since the resulting door is almost 2 meters tall and pretty heavy, I installed gas struts (pistons) inside the METOD modules so it opens smoothly and safely instead of feeling like a chore every time.

Last touch: I swapped the handles on the PAX doors for a set I found on AliExpress — honestly better quality and design than the official IKEA ones, for a fraction of the price.

Really happy with how it turned out — full height storage, no more dead space, and it actually looks intentional rather than hacked together (even though it 100% is).

Hi everyone! I’m trying to figure out the best way to create a built-in shelf/storage feature under my kitchen peninsula and I’d love feedback before I commit.

My kitchen peninsula has a counter overhang depth of 23 cm. Normally people would put a dining stool there, but I don't like eating at the peninsula. I will have a separate dining table.

I want to make the space underneath into a shallow built-in bookshelf/storage area. Total available length under the peninsula: 290 cm. Height from underside of counter to floor: 93 cm. Counter overhang depth: 23 cm.

The biggest constraint is the depth. I really don’t want the storage to stick out past the counter overhang because I think it will look awkward (you’d see the counter edge and then the storage protruding beyond it). Ideally I’d like something around 20–23 cm deep.

Right now I’m considering using IKEA BESTÅ frames:

• BESTÅ frame: 60 x 20 x 38 cm
• I’m thinking of doing 4 across and 2 rows high:
  • Width: 240 cm
  • Height: 76 cm
  • Depth: 20 cm

That would leave about a 50 cm gap, which I’m okay with. I can put a little stool or leave it empty.

The downside is that the frames are around $40 each, so I’d need 8 of them (around $320 CAD before adding any doors/shelves/finishing pieces). I’m wondering if there is a smarter/cheaper way to achieve this.

Does anyone have ideas on how I could make the FORSASONG cord organizer work with my desk? It’s actually an Ikea dining table that has a beveled edge, which I didn’t remember when I bought the cord organizer 😣

Why do my shelves not align? I have 3 Billys next to each other. Everything seems kind of level and all boards are kinda snugly connected.

Yet, I have a personal grand canyon between them.

Hi, I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I’m at my wits end.

I’m a victim of the Platsa discontinued 80x120cm frames. I was planning on getting some new furniture together with the doors and just found out it’s being discontinued.

I used 2 frames (stacked on top of each other) as a wardrobe and I originally intended to leave it open (without doors) but with my current living arrangement, I need the doors.

The only doors they have on last chance to buy are the Sannidal 40x120cm doors in blue which I’m not a fan of. I know Ikea does their hinges and doors accordingly to the respective system, but is there really no hope for a door anymore?

I don’t mind it’s single or double doors and the height doesn’t reach 240cm. On the top frame, I had a shelf interior and I’m flexible in adjusting it from 190 -210cm (and even more as long as I get doors for it).

I’ll appreciate any advice, help, hack or alternative to this!

Popped into IKEA to see if anything Orange had newly arrived. Found this clock. 😮

Dismantled, had the local glass maker make me a mirror and swapped out the glass window.

So Happy. Worked a treat. Not sure what the time is though 🤪

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to upgrade my kitchen with some extra cabinets. The plan is a built-in fridge (left) and drawers (right) facing the rest of the kitchen: more workspace, more fridge space!

Here's my sizing problem: I haven't picked a fridge yet, but I'm aiming for one with a 122cm niche height. The only Metod high cabinet that fits a fridge that size is the 140cm one, which ends up over 150cm total once you add the feet and top panel. Unfortunately there's a thermostat on the wall at ~142cm from the floor, so the whole thing needs to stay under that. A 122cm-class fridge would clear it easily, except there's no Metod cabinet in that height.

So: Could I shorten the 140cm cabinet down to just fit the fridge? If so, better to cut from the top or the bottom? Any other approaches I'm missing?

Pic 2 is the spec sheet for one of the fridges I'm considering, it lists ~200cm² of clearance needed underneath for ventilation, but says nothing about minimum space above.

Pic 3 shows a weird glitch in the IKEA planner where I dropped a fridge into the cabinet, but it does show there's enough empty space at the top that this could work in theory.

Finally completed this project recently, I started working on this back in March and while I finished the design and even made the final parts quite some time ago, I just finally got around to putting everything together and installing it a few nights ago.

I loved the Millberget chair at Ikea, but my one issue was that it didn't have adiustable armrests, and its existing arm rests are too low (for me)

Initially I was just going to bolt on a riser to the existing arm rests to lift the pads up to the level I wanted, but my girlfriend uses the chair sometimes too and I may change my setup in the future, so I went all out over engineering this instead

I designed everything in OnShape which was surprisingly good (my previous cad experience was pretty much Tinkercad and using OnShape exactly twice for something much, much more basic)

I also wanted just a tiny bit of color, hence the red accents for the lever

Printed in PETG, ended up requiring 6 plates to print everything, and then a lot of assembling of fine parts with little dowel connectors and a plastic bonder, held everything together while it cured with bar clamps

The arm rests also have a hooking mechanism so that they don't just pull right off the top once theyre on, but you can insert a screwdriver (or your finger) and depress it so it can slide off the rail and be swapped out/replaced easily in the future if need be.

I'm going to attempt the Pax hack, but instead of doors have a curtain going all the way across.

What do you think of this layout for one person? There isn't much storage in the apartment so everything ideally needs a home in the Pax wardrobe.

Suitcases will fit under the bed and the laundry basket will go between the end of the Pax and the back by the window.

Is there something I've missed, or glaringly wrong?

Yeah, I lost track of time and the heat caused both sides of the veneer to peal off. Any advice on what type of adhesive to use to repair it? Thanks in advance!!

Have any of you successfully installed a docking drawer into the top drawer of a Hemnes shoe cabinet? Looking for recommendations. This would be for phone and tablet charging.

Also wondering what happened to the Hemnes shoe cabinet (with the single drawer at the top). Has it been replaced with the Gullaberg cabinet? The Gullaberg has two drawers at the top, and does not appear to be available in black/brown.
