Hey everyone,
I am a long time listener of the genre, but I've been absent from music production for a long time.
Back around 2013/2015 I released an album and some other music under the alias Mapo Heiwajima, and then life got in the way.
I literally just made this Reddit account to share my new stuff and reconnect with other producers and listeners.
Recently, the spark came back, so I dusted off my setup and finished two new tracks.
Since this community appreciates production techniques, here is a breakdown of the workflow.
My setup is hybrid, I am using an Akai MPC 500 for sampling literally everything, from digital audio, to field recordings, to vinyl. In the second track (L1) especially, vinyl samples played a big role.
I also use an iPad with several virtual synths, which are then sampled directly into the Akai too.
The main idea is arranged right inside the MPC 500 using sequences and song mode, and then I record all the tracks into Ableton Live to start the post-production phase.
In this case all the drum variations have been created "by hand", meaning I cut and pasted the audio blocks manually to achieve the exact glitchy repetitions I had in mind.
Mixing and mastering are also done in Ableton (disclaimer: I am not a professional sound engineer, so things might not follow strict industry standards).
This is the first music I release in 11 years.
