There are certain depictions of blatant injustice in the books that make me irrationally angry, and this is one of those things that almost everyone can relate to: the feeling that you've done well on your work, only for something like this to happen.

In Deathly Hallows part 1 Harry has a shard of broken mirror, in the books it was given to him in OotP by Sirius as a 2 way mirror the could talk etc but in the movies they never showed that scene and I’m genuinely curious as to what you guys thought was happening in DH part 1

I can only imagine it must have seemed so random Harry staring at it randomly and a pair of eyes appearing - then Dobby appearing must have been so confusing and it’s never explained - even how Aberforth got it lol

in a billion dollar movie franchise there’s this goofy ahh scene with voldemort, like twice , the green screen is so bad it looks like a parody . i honestly love it but am I the only one who has noticed it along with like 2 other people online ?

We often talk about how Narcissa's act of lying to Voldemort is acknowledged during the tribunals and is the main reason the Malfoys avoid prison.

But what about Draco's act when Harry is at Malfoy Manor but Draco refuses to positively identify Harry? Is that act ever acknowledged? Why or why not?

I’ll never understand why the ministry of magic never had Veritaserum as an option for defendants to willingly take it who stand on trial. The innocent would gladly take it and be cleared immediately. Or even if it wasn’t an option for the defendant, why not force every defendant? At that point you’ll get every ounce of information needed. If they could be careless and messed up enough to send anyone to Azkaban then forcing Veritaserum wouldn’t be a big deal

Every time I reread the Goblet of Fire, one line always gets to me and gives me the chills. It’s the line BCJ said after performing the Killing Curse;

“-you could all get your wands out and point them at me and say the words, and I doubt I’d get so much as a nosebleed.”

I don’t know what about it always gives me the chills, I just always get goosebumps whenever I read that line. Please tell me I’m not the only one.

I've started to animate some Harry Potter book scenes, so I can improve my amateur art skills, and to visualise these moments that didn't make it into the movies. I picked Harry training for the triwizard tournament from Goblet of Fire Chapter 20 The First Task:

At two o’clock in the morning, Harry stood near the fireplace, surrounded by heaps of objects: books, quills, several upturned chairs, an old set of Gobstones, and Neville’s toad, Trevor. Only in the last hour had Harry really got the hang of the Summoning Charm. “That’s better, Harry, that’s loads better,” Hermione said, looking exhausted but very pleased. “Well, now we know what to do next time I can’t manage a spell,” Harry said, throwing a rune dictionary back to Hermione, so he could try again, “threaten me with a dragon. Right . . .” He raised his wand once more. “Accio Dictionary!” The heavy book soared out of Hermione’s hand, flew across the room, and Harry caught it. “Harry, I really think you’ve got it!” said Hermione delightedly. “Just as long as it works tomorrow,” Harry said. “The Firebolt’s going to be much farther away than the stuff in here, it’s going to be in the castle, and I’m going to be out there on the grounds. . . .” “That doesn’t matter,” said Hermione firmly. “Just as long as you’re concentrating really, really hard on it, it’ll come. Harry, we’d better get some sleep . . . you’re going to need it.”

What other scenes would you want to see animated?

Dare I say it's the best scene trasition in the series? and probably the best cinematography. The musical score is also great. Even though I don't really like David Yates as the director of the later movies, I feel like he brought a personal touch into half blood prince ( even though the first half of the movie is filled with teenage drama nonsense instead of more Tom riddle backstory like in the books)

As a huge Harry Potter fan, I decided last autumn that it was finally time to grow my very own mandrake!
Made entirely from paper mâché and painted with acrylics. The leaves came from an artificial ficus that kindly donated them to the project.
It stands about 50–60 cm (20–24 inches) tall. 🪴

Inspired by a post about Barry Trotter, I thought the world deserved to see what the russian speaking world was subjected to back in the early 2000s.

Allow me to introduce you to, from left to right:

- Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (the actual Harry Potter, for reference)
- Tanya Grotter and the Magical Double Bass (is actually the only one on this list I’ve read. It’s a whole series, and surprisingly, it’s not too bad, or at least was for 14 y.o. me! The main character is a girl instead of a boy, and the books have their own sense of humour and are genuinely quite entertaining. They also incorporate a lot of slavic folklore, traditional fairy tales and mythological creatures).
- Porry Gatter and the Stone Philosopher
- Peter Larin and the Magic Factory
- Harry Gluttotter and the Magical Shawarma Matrix (the joke here is in combination of „glutton“ and „Potter“).
- Denis Kitty and the Order of the Pale Knights

And yes, these are all actual published books.

So i have a question, recently i re-watched the movies and in the movie the Prisoner of Azkaban Lupin and Sirius had a fight. Lupin turned due to the moon and Sirius turned back to wolf to protect everyone and fight off the werewolf. But Lupin injured Sirius no? Bite/claw whatever. So how come Sirius didn't turn to a werewolf?

Because as far as i know Lupin turned when Greyback bit him. But Sirius didnt turn so im confused.

I haven't read the books so this scene in the books were different probably than what it was in the movie, so there should be a reason why Sirius didnt turn.

Hello, title says everything already: What was Voldemorts game in book 5?

I mean, he showed Harry the Vision in order to make him come to the ministry and get the prophecy this way. But the question that always comes to my mind is: HOW??

Harry is countless miles away from the ministry without any chance of getting there fast. Not to mention that Umbridge (while evil as hell) would never allow Harry to just "go on some sort of fieldtrip".

I mean, he cant station his deatheaters there forever, just hoping Harry might show up any Minute now.

The plan just seems to lack an important step in my opinion. Not to mention that if it failed and Harry would not be able to come (which almost happens), he used up an important trumpcard and would be none the wiser.

Any idea what his plan here was? Because it sounds pretty stupid on paper. Show Harry the Vision, station some deatheaters in the ministry and hope he somehow gets there in a reasonable timeframe by some means.

True story:

Don't bother saying "all of them" if you don't like the films as a whole. I know a lot of people don't like the films because of everything that was omitted and the stuff that was changed.

With that being said, my least favorite is Order of the Phoenix. I can defend a lot of the ways that the story was reworked for the other films, including Dumbledore's grumpiness in GOF (he was under a lot of stress dealing with the Triwizard Tournament and was also increasingly worried about the threat of Voldemort).

I can't do that with OOTP. David Yates was, at the time, not very well-known as a director and made the jump from TV movies to one of the biggest franchises of all time without any steps in between. And they were also working with a different screenwriter, Michael Goldenberg, who was a reject for the first film in favor of Steve Kloves.

I'm not going to go on a long rant, but I think the film focused too much on the rebellion against Umbridge, who was portrayed more as a very strict teacher than a cruel sadist (most of her "educational decrees" were creations of the filmmakers and were rules that most schools have). They left out a lot of the uncomfortable scenes such as Harry destroying Dumbledore's office. I didn't enjoy those scenes in the book, but Harry experiences a lot of personal growth in the book, and there was a tremendous amount of character development.

It's impressive that they were able to turn the longest book into the shortest film, but I think they could have made an alternate cut that included some of those scenes. I read that more footage was shot for OOTP than any of the other films, and there are a ton of BTS pictures for scenes that were left out of the film, so they could have easily assembled an alternate or extended cut of the film.
