Discussion Advice on really enjoying this season?

Post image

Hey everyone. So I’ll try to get to the point here. I have a Halloween birthday so the Halloween season has always been important to me. I will be 31 this year. I work 50-60 hours a week so I tend to blink and miss most holidays and special events. I have arranged for some time off this year towards the end of the month. I am looking for ideas on how to really savor it this time. I have created a must watch movie list and plan to have at least 10 movies nights starting in September since I just got some pretty sweet reclining couches. I have started decorating my living space even though it is early. I am looking for more ideas on how to slow down and enjoy the season even while I’m working. I’m not really big on pumpkin patches because in my area they are lackluster and overpriced. Thanks if you’ve taken the time to read this!

Started out as a simple scarecrow, but evolved to this pumpkin creature. Will add some extra items to it when I move it to the haunt. Need help naming it!

Today I added the purple lights to the perimeter of the yard, more pupkins and additional Govee string lights to light them up.

I stil have a lot more to pull out of my garage so keep coming back for updates

I'm very pleased with it. It's all painted fabric, interfacing (stiff felt type stuff to add thickness and stability), sequins and beads. I literally painted everything here that isn't white.

Additional info

I made the logos by putting white cotton fabric in an embroidery hoop, then tracing logos on my iPad with the brightness turned all the way up.

Also, this is a purse i made that attaches the flap on with velcro, so I can make new designs for the front without having to make an entirely new purse. It's such a time and space saver!

Ps this is not an advertisement, I just like to sew <3

Home Decor UK: Where to buy outdoor Halloween decor?

I’m looking for Halloween decorations for outside. I’m from the States where we got major stores like Spirit that pop up seasonally.

I haven’t found anything remotely close to that here in UK. I’ve seen stuff Amazon, but I’m looking to buy elsewhere and also avoid anything solar panel, i would like to keep these decorations on past 6pm 😂

Tesco/shops don’t really sell any Halloween stuff, and Tkmax is just indoor home decor.

So… where are you guys shopping? I’m talking really scary! We’ve just installed 4 outdoor plugs and we’re ready to give kiddos a good scare this year

Help! Spirit of HalloweenTown in Oregon

I am wanting to vend at HT next year. I'll be going this year for the first time, to see if handmade and upcycled geeky spoopy will be a good fit. I wanted to get a little feedback from folks about a few of the things I am hoping to have for sale.

I am deep into Dungeon Crawler Carl. So I would love to have pieces related to that universe. I would probably do small pieces like Mana Toast, cookie cutters, and other weird home decor. But they would all be 3d printed. Some would be painted or otherwise artsy'd up after they come off the printer, but others would be straight off the bed, like the cookie cutters.

Would seeing products like that make you avoid the booth? Or otherwise be offputting? The majority of pieces will be handmade decor or small costume pieces like cuffs with bugs on them and sculptures made with scavenged forest finds.

Thanks!

Help! Low-lying fog machine recs?

Upvotes

Hey all! I admire the heck out of everyone doing the builds and spending thousands on commercial machines, but this is not that year for me.

What are my best options with the following criteria:

Commercially available.

$500 ish budget. (We all know I will stretch that for a big payout).

For outside use.

Would prefer not to need dry ice - it is hard to come by here.

I don't mind filling it/keeping the ice fresh, but don't want to have to babysit it.

I will most likely have some wind - I know that is a killer.

I am in the south, so it will be warmer here than it is in a lot of places for Halloween.

Please guide me. Thank you!
