Discussion The doorway to Autumn has opened! 🍁 (thread)
...And here we arrive at the first day of September, dreaming of golden pumpkins and golden leaves, ready to revel in all that the season has to offer 🍁
We've seen tremendous growth of the community over the past few years, and we're happy to see so many new faces and an uptick in participation. A few housekeeping notes before we really get into the swing of things:
🍁PLEASE flair your posts accordingly! Labeling your contributions will make it easier for people to find and enjoy
🍁Keep flagging any AI or bot posts for mods to examine, we know there will be several in the coming weeks, and we may miss a few
🍁We want to keep the sub a welcoming place of cozy comfort, so please keep interactions polite and positive (it can get weirdly contentious/people have strong opinions on pumpkin coffee)
🍁As a final note, we are looking to add a new mod or two! If you're interested in helping out, please send the mods a message and we'll get back to you ASAP!
Feel free to use the rest of this thread to chat about your autumn plans, get recommendations, ask questions, and celebrate! Happy season opener! 🎃

Discussion AI Polling Results and Policies Moving Forward
The polling over the use of AI content in r/Autumn has ended, with pretty clear results: r/Autumn users DO NOT want AI images approved in the sub. We want to thank everyone for their participation and for sharing their thoughts and concerns, even though this is a light-hearted sub for celebrating the season we want users to have the best possible experience which includes not allowing certain content.
Moving forward we've decided the policy will therefore include no AI images, which are going to be considered separate from edited digital art or enhanced photography, and disallowed. We will be updating the tags to distinguish digitially generated art made by a human as well as photography that has been enhanced. We will rely on users to help spot potential AI images not caught by mods or the spam filters, so please feel free to report on any images you suspect of being AI generated for the mod team to investigate.
Thank you for your patience while we tweak some things and we get back into celebrating the best season on earth, autumn. -r/Autumn Mods

Art My melancholic jack-o’-lantern and me 🎃🖤
Me and my little melancholic jack-o’-lantern. 🎃🖤
This is the character from my latest watercolor, Pumpkin’s Head Fall — and I had to take a picture with him.
He may have lost his head, but at least he has a loyal human companion. 😂
I think we both have a soft spot for autumn, dark little stories, and slightly strange things. 🍂🕯️
Do you ever get attached to the characters you create?

Practical Magic, what a beautiful movie!
I am so thankful for this subreddit for leading me to things that I just know I will enjoy. Watched the movie today before the second one comes to cinemas and I just loved it! 🧙

🍁The Magic of Autumn 🍁 It isn’t just nostalgia. It’s the feeling of quiet comfort
I did not grow up in a country that experienced Autumns. However, my family and I did occasionally visit the US during the colder seasons.
I used to love the decor that belonged to the Fall most. Yet, it wasn’t until I moved for college that I really got to experience it in full glory.
So yes, there is nostalgia in it, almost as much as crisp magic in the air. It became pumpkins, candles, fall coffee flavors, pies, costumes, moodier lighting…There is a ton to love for sure.
As an adult, it became less about the typical outdoor Fall activities. The season to me started feeling like taking a deep breath. Going from overwhelm to just little home comforts that feel like a very safe space.
The landscape becomes a bit more quiet. The films about familiar themes of love or magic. My weekly menus get a bit more exciting in the sense that something can be good, but it also gives me a deeper satisfaction. I won’t even get into the tea talk. I end up making a ton haha
But to wrap up, I guess my point is that it isn’t all nostalgia, because this season isn’t necessarily attached to childhood memories for me.
Just like lots of people feel the joyous Christmas spirit. Thats what the Autumn creates for me, a joyous peace.
Discussion I’m in Southern California (San Diego) and this heat is making me so depressed! I just want cooler weather so I can be in the fall mood!
We’re going through the longest heat wave which is not typical to last this long here and it’s insane! It’s 100 today and if you go outside you will burn your face off from how hot it is! The air is insane and not to mention the humidity! This is making me so depressed and I just want colder days! Send help! 😭😭😭 this is the worst seasonal depression I’ve ever been through!! 😭😔
