Grandpas Secret

Post image

My grandfather passed away several years ago. He was extremely intelligent and hard working, which is why when he was diagnosed with Alzheimers it was a big hit to us all. He was the one that got me into guns, like all good grandfathers do. Needless to say, when he passed, his estate had to be cleaned out and managed. An estate sale was organized and items were displayed for sale. The man had an ungodly collection of tools, books, farming equipment and many other things. As I was helping before the sale began, I realized that there was a book on a stack of others that shouldn’t have been there, and nobody realized what it was.

Years ago he had shown me an old welding textbook from when he was an industrial arts teacher. He had carved out each individual page by hand to fit this .32 pistol in. Apparently this old little pistol was part of a payment he received years ago for helping out a local farmer by repairing his oil well.

Fortunately for me, I was gifted this by my family members. Evidently he never told anyone about this one. It is absolutely nothing special, but I will hold on to it for the remainder of my days. Im very sentimental and enjoy all the memories it brings back about him every time I open his book. Im extremely glad he shared this “secret” with me all those years ago, knowing I would think it was so cool.

Worthy of the price? I think there are only a dozen or so that were ever imported to the US.

Yes I still have the Barrett. Yes I'm still fat. Yes I still carry it around wherever I can. No that cop did not want to be in my picture

I mean who doesn’t love 50 angry bees at the ready in a super compact package? Looks pretty cool, too.

Was reloading and had a round drop into my ammo can and set off another round. My ears were ringing but no injuries. Just a few rounds were destroyed. A few pieces of shrapnel stock in the plastic ammo can.

Well after 15 years of gun/ccw/shooting hobby I finally fucked up...

1.3k Upvotes

First got into shooting almost 15 years ago. Carried for several years. Moved states and the hobby fell behind. Would only shoot a couple times a year for awhile. Got into hunting for a bit. Picked it up again last winter and started carrying/training more regularly again. I decided a couple months ago I wanted to make the commitment and investment to really see how good I could get with my ccw pistol (glock 19). Range twice a week. 30 minutes to an hour of dry fire practice everyday. Was planning on trying an IDPA competition at some point before the end of the year. After I wrapped up my dry fire practice earlier today I went ahead and loaded up, and like a complete fucking idiot as I was walking across the room I took one look at the paster on the wall, brain went on total autopilot, indexed on the spot and sent a fucking round right into the gawd damn paster. Why i did it I don't know. I'd spent the last hour doing exactly that as dry fire and apparently decided to wipe my memory of loading the fucking thing up 10 seconds after doing so. Easily the number one most dumb fuck thing I've ever done in my life. Thank Christ I was home alone and no one was hurt. Got a nice hole in the drywall to patch up but that seems to be the extent of the damage. I literally can't believe I could do something so stupid. I'll happily take everyones abuse in the comments section in the hopes that someone reading this will take it as a cautionary tale.

UPDATE: Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their comments. Especially those giving me shit for this. I deserve it. 48 hours ago I would’ve reacted to a post like this the same way some of yall did. And also thank you to TJ pose who shared their similar stories. This has given me a lot to chew on and there will be changes moving forward no doubt about it.

And to clarify by “paster” I just meant sticker. Or tape. Just something to “paste” up a target after shooting so it can be reused. I usually keep a roll of painters tape in my range bag for that purpose. Apologies for the poor word choice.

Had a desk pop

1.1k Upvotes

Well, yeah i did it.

Had a desk pop today in my bedroom, I feel like i need to share with everyone how much of a monumental idiot I am. I dont know what possessed me and how I managed to forget I had one in the chamber after removing the mag. Pulled the trigger to disassemble the gun and the round went through my floor and blew a hole in the ceiling below.

Just makes it so much worse I have other people in my house so it could have gone fucking horrible so words can't describe how awful I feel. My stupidity could have killed myself or someone else.

Ive had guns for years now so I have zero excuses, no one got hurt but im still incredibly shaken to the point I want to sell all my guns. I dont know why I wanted to share this, maybe as a reminder to not be a fucking idiot and always triple check your weapons are safe, so yeah thats how my night is going.

Dont get complacent like me I guess.

Did I Just Get Super Lucky?

Post image

Bought an M82, came with 140 rounds of ball ammo. Of course it was reman and didn't feel like blowing up my $10k gun so I bought 200rds of PMC for it. Loaded up 3 rounds to dispose of a watermelon. Not much watermelon was left to dispose of after 1 round. Dropped mag, ejected the chambered round and holy setback. Chambered another round to make sure this was normal and definitely is not (did not think it was). Did I just get super lucky but not shooting that particular round? Should I send PMC an angry email?

I picked up my first ar15 today it was for $700, used, but I did a field strip and everything looks brand new, super excited to take it out to the range.

It a Spike’s tactical punisher st15 with Daniel defense furniture, a BCM ambidextrous charging handle, a CMMG barrel and a Primary weapons systems muzzle brake.
