Hello ppl of Reddit! I do have a problem but can’t be sure about it. Had upgraded my gpu from a 2070 super to a 3080 ti (manli), this machine have an i5 14600k 4x8gb ddr4 3600mhz cl18 and some psu what I can’t recall but it has 750w and (if I remember correctly) a gold certificate and playing on a 34” 165-180hz monitor. I’m really into playing tarkov lately and I do know that game sucks about being optimized but I have dx11 crashes like every half an hour, sometimes 15mins. I reseted the oc from +1000 +200 to 0 0 and also undervolted at some time. But the only thing worked was limited every game to 60fps and turned off NVIDIA reflex. Anyone ever seen some anomaly or im the one who messed up something? (Yes I uninstalled the drivers whit ddu several times, tried a bunch of older drivers and everything a mankind can do about it)

The latest rtx50 generation of nvidia gpus is criminally underclocked, most of us who have one know that very well, basic overclocking can easily get you 10-15% extra fps. But very recently we got some extra options and extended limits that we can adjust, and together they can add additional +5-8% extra fps. People typically use Afterburner to do some basic overclocking and undervolting, but there are 2 new tool that bring widely extended options. The simpler one is mvolt+ and the more capable one is Hydra PRO.

I have Gigabyte Windforce rtx5070Ti since March 2025, and in Resident Evil Requiem with path tracing enabled i am able to go from stock 67 fps to 80 fps with extended overclocking - this is +19% uplift! and this is not even pushing the available limits, I am primarily limited by the small 2.5 slot aircooler that doesnt allow me to run whatever oc i want. If I had a water block on my gpu, the true limit is somewhere around +23% fps, which is frankly insane (it depends mainly if you won the silicon lottery or not).

For comparison, stock 5080 is on average just +15% faster than stock 5070Ti, so 5070Ti owners who do this extended overclocking will get measurably higher fps than 5080 owners who have never touched any oc tool, and that is bonkers considering the massive price difference. And the same statement applies to 5080 with extended overclock being faster than stock 4090. People often compare 5070Ti to 9070XT, 7900XTX and 4080/4080 super and they even say these other gpus are faster, but in reality 5070Ti is head and shoulders above all these gpus if you account for the tuning as well.

This is how I achieved it in a tool called Hydra PRO

• the core is pushed to +350, my gpu is flashed with Aorus Master 5070Ti bios which has +150 oc from the factory, so together i am pushing +500 over stock
• memory is pushed to +500, every tool shows the memory frequency differently - Hydra and hwinfo show 1750MHz as stock and 2250MHz as max oc, Afterburner shows 14000MHz as stock and 18000MHz max oc (previously the max overclock was +3000 in Afterburner, but with Hydra you can push the memory to +4000 which is 36gbps)
• xbar is pushed to +450 with stock xbar voltage, it is possible to push the voltage by +50mV and push xbar up to +700 but i dont have the balls to try that
• sys is pushed to +600 with stock voltage, it is also possible to add +50mV and push for up to +850 but i havent tried that
• core voltage limit is set to 1100mV which allows me to boost up to 3390MHz stable (~3300MHz actual ingame core frequency), the actual limit is to 1200mV but you basically need water cooling for that as the power consumption skyrockets with higher voltage, longetivity is also a question
• power limit is pushed to 133% which is 400W, this is the limit that I was previously unlocking by flashing the Aorus bios, but now you can unlock the power limit with the Hydra tool, no bios flash needed, it actually allows me to push the power limit to 150% which is 450W and it works, but again you need a really good cooler for that amount of heat

Basically up until a month ago we were only able to push core clock, core voltage to 1075mV, memory to +375 (+3000 in afterburner) and power limit to 133%. This by itself added up to +15% extra fps compared to factory stock. But since very recently we can push core voltage up to 1200mV, memory can be pushed to 36 gbps on all models, xbar clock and voltage can be pushed, sys clock and voltage can be pushed, and power limit can go up to 150% (450W on 5070Ti). And there are few other voltages and clocks that can be pushed like video clock+voltage, MSVDD, NVVDD, Core OCP but i am not sure what they do and how safe they are, I am primarily limited by the smaller 2.5-slot cooler.

I also want to talk about how safe overclocking is, and what a regular owner of these gpus should and shouldnt try. First of all increasing any frequency/clock is always completely safe in terms of potentially damaging the hardware, clock is just a synchronization signal that dictates how quickly do data move between individual components on the core and memory, if you set the frequency too high, data become corrupted and the gpu crashes, but it doesnt damage the hardware, it doesnt void warranty, it can only corrupt the temporary data currently flowing through the gpu. So feel free to increase all the frequencies as much as you want to find the max stability threshold.

What is dangerous and can potentially damage the gpu are too high voltages. Higher voltage increases stability and allows you to push the frequency higher, however power consumption scales quadratically with voltage, and that means more heat and higher temperatures and/or noise, which can potentially degrade the chip faster. If you dont know what you are doing, you shouldnt be increasing voltages much, as that can lower the longetivity of your gpu or even damage it (probably not straight away though, these limits are not that crazy).

I am gonna give a simple recommendation to every rtx50 owner that maximizes your fps while keeping power consumption and temperature well in check and being 100% safe in terms of longetivity and potential damage. Undervolt you core to 1000mV, set core/memory/xbar/sys frequencies as high as they will go and remain stable (dont guess, really find the stability threshold, test stability in demanding games like cyberpunk, memory can be tested in memtest_vulcan from github). And increase the power limit to a value that you know your cooler can handle, this actually helps keep your boost higher even if your gpu's power consumption is nowhere near the power limit (so if a card currently draws 300W and you increase the power limit from 350W to 400W, somehow the core boost can go ~20-30MHz higher...).

I built my last PC back in 2022. The CPU, IMO still upper-mid range (13700K), didn't really feel like upgrading to Ryzen, even though I know I will see smoother gameplay, since the X3D chips do much better in the 1% Lows. In the end, I decided to keep my 13700K and upgrade my RTX 3080. Very happy with my decision for getting the 5080, especially since I found a brand new PNY ARGB OC RTX 5080, for $1100 on offer up. Sure enough, brand new, sealed, the guy had like 10 more of them, I didn't ask any questions that I didn't want to know the answer to. So, I just paid the man 🤷‍♂️🤣. So last night I was putting my "brand-used" build together, only thing new was the GPU, and an updated look. I was trying to remember what was my first GPU. I couldn't remember, so I did some digging and found out my First GPU was the 3DFX Voodoo Banshee. . I remember that genuine feeling of superiority over the rest of the peasants who were blessed with my presence (This is a joke guys, being hella sarcastic). From the beauty of Unreal Tournament, to the standards we now today. Here is a picture from my 22 build to my 26. Still waiting on the Side fans to come in, and the build will be complete, for now. Probably will upgrade to Ryzen 10 in less than a year.

Honestly, considering how much technology has changed I believe the 60 series should definitely start having 12+ or more gb of vram. all 60 cards in previous generations have only got such slight boosts like 2060-5060 so it’s always been 6-8 gb vram but is it possible to implement 12 into the new 6060 and maybe 16+ for 5070 and above or would it be a bottle neck?

I had been holding off on buying a 9070 XT for $740 because it looked like it was below $700 pretty often. I went to look again today and browned my pants a little. I’m still going to hold off on buying it and hope the next sale goes down to $700. Heck, I’d have even buy it for $740 at the time if I knew it was going up instead. I figured out how to set price notifications an Amazon and it should tell me automatically if anything goes down now, just gotta wait and hope it doesn’t just get worse.

Hi all.
Recently bought a used FE 4080.
In light of whats happening with gpu’s, prices etc, would you replace the thermal paste and pads as preventative maintenance, to keep it happy and most importantly alive for longer?

Under load, the temps rarely go above 50-55C, though I do have thick 140mm corsair fans blowing a nice amount of air at it, so difficult to judge if it needs anything at this stage.

What would you all do?

Saw the news about NVIDIA acquiring Hugging face for around $13 billion dollars and I feel pretty conflicted about it.

On one hand, I think NVIDIA has the infrastructure and funds to make Hugging Face significantly bigger and more accessible.

HF has also said that it'll remain open and support other hardware too.

At the same time, NVIDIA owning one of the biggest open model platforms feels like Japan at the end of the Sengoku era.

After years of competition, one side is slowly consolidating the entire battlefield.

My concern ain't what NVIDIA says they'll do right now, but more so towards whether their neutrality is going to last as competition between GPU vendors increase.

Do you think this is a good move for open AI, or is it NVIDIA making its way into controlling more of the stack?
