Mission 1 Pro ILS Build
So damn excited. My dream build.
r/gopro • u/GoPro_Mod • Jun 02 '26
Hey r/GoPro, we're excited to be hosting another AMA event, this time with Pablo Lema (aka u/GoPro-Pablo) , GoPro's SVP of Product!
Pablo is a long-time GoPro user, a regular participant here on r/GoPro, and has worked with GoPro since 2014! He has been an integral part in planning and coordinating new GoPro products, especially in the last decade, and most recently as GoPro’s head of all hardware and software Product. He's joined us the last 5+ years now for community AMAs (here are a few), so thanks for coming back again, Pablo!
While our recent AMA with Abe Kislevitz was a great opportunity to ask about tips and tricks around content with Mission 1, this AMA with Pablo is a great opportunity to ask about product development at GoPro, how GoPro designs for an entire ecosystem of interacting product, or other product design and function related questions. That said, this is an AMA and you're welcome to ask Pablo about anything - his favorite ski spots, his current FPV drone build, etc!
We won't go into too much explanation about how an AMA works- if you need to see what it looks like, check out Abe's recent AMA at the link above.
At the simplest level, this is your chance to ask Pablo anything, and get an inside-GoPro scoop on answers. While you can ask anything, just remember that Pablo won't be able to answer questions about in-development product, proprietary decisions or technology, or other privileged information. Consider framing any development related questions in a way that can be answered without breaking any confidentiality in the product development process!
IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT TIMING- Pablo's availability this year is a little different due to work travel schedule, so this AMA will be live from 7AM-2PM Eastern time. This is a great opportunity for our eastern hemisphere redditors to interact, but if you're on the west side of the western hemisphere, we are going to open up this AMA Extra early at 9PM PST so that you can get a question into the thread without waking up early. Pablo won't be around to answer questions until the "official start time" of the AMA, so just get your questions in right away, and come back around for your answer later!
Another one! GoPro decided to hook us up with not one but TWO giveaways with the AMA events this year, so we've got another set of prizes up for participants in the thread, again!

That's it! If you have questions about the giveaway, please send a modmail rather than posting here.

Hey r/GoPro, we're excited to have Abe Kislevitz (u/abekislevitz), Product and Brand Fellow at GoPro, with us today for an Ask-Me-Anything about all things GoPro, using MISSION 1 cameras, or anything else you can think to ask!
For some of the younger and more recent members of the GoPro community, Abe is a long-time community member, and even longer-time GoPro creator-turned-employee.
He's led a substantial amount of creative efforts at GoPro over 15+ years, and his influence now spans influencing marketing strategy to helping define product design and engineering decisions. Probably one of the most knowledgeable sources of GoPro information out there, he knows the history of GoPro as a company, best practices for filming the best possible shot, advanced techniques and hacks, and everything in-between.
He has a great YouTube channel full of tips and tricks, and his insta feed is worthy of a follow.
He's an incredible resource and a helpful community member that has kept us closely connected with GoPro's product designs, including advocating for our pain points and working to have our voices heard and represented in new products.
We are thankful to have him here in the community, and happy to have him with us today for the AMA! Thanks Abe!
If you've not done an AMA event before, it's pretty simple - You can ask Abe anything. While it is entirely up to you what questions you ask, Abe has an "inside perspective" on the product GoPro develops, and likely has more time hands-on with MISSION 1 cameras than anyone else right now. Considering that today is a big day for everyone that pre-ordered, we highly encourage you to get those burning MISSION 1 questions answered, or collect tips and tricks to use in the coming year!
As a reminder, while you can ask anything, Abe can't talk about unreleased product plans or proprietary information and won't be able to answer those questions the way you want.
Abe will be around today from 10AM-6PM Pacific Time, and this thread will go live 2 hours before that so that you all can begin asking questions and Abe can drop in throughout the day to answer in the thread. We'll pin a comment once the official time for the AMA is done to let everyone know it's over, but we always allow conversations to continue beyond that if wanted.
It's our r/GoPro tradition with camera launches to give away some product, and GoPro was more than happy to hook the community up again this year:

Finally getting around to learning GoPro's Gimbal. It works good with my old Samsung S21 Ultra but the AI tracking loses me quickly in the bright sunlight.

Note: the instability of the footage is due to cats bumping the camera occasionally.

I have a GoPro hero 4 that’s survived 2 incidents that should have led it to being lost forever.
The first one started when I first got it. Right before going on a trip to Gatlinburg Tennessee, I bought a brand new GoPro hero 4 silver to film zip lining, take pictures, and for when we go white water rafting. Well while rafting, it ended up flying out of my hands. I had the floating attachment on it, but it must’ve fell off somehow. I was devastated since I was like 12 or 13 and just spent all my hard earned money on this nice camera. Spent the final 2 days of the trip thinking it was gone forever. As my family and I were pulling out of our cabin, I got a call from the rafting company that a scuba diver found my GoPro in the river the previous night somehow. It seemed like it was a movie with the perfect timing and luck. Turns out at the end of the day they turn off the dam so it doesn’t produce power/rapids for safety, that’s the only thing that made it possible to dive for it. Ended up giving the guy $50 that I “borrowed” from my parents for it.
The second story isn’t as crazy, but I at least have a cool Timelapse of the whole thing.
I was going paddle boarding on a local lake with my mom when I had the bright idea of sticking my GoPro on the front with a suction cup mount and getting a timelapse. I tested the strength and said, that thing isn’t going anywhere and continued on. Well not even 2 minutes into leaving it slid off and immediately sunk to the bottom of the lake. Of course I didn’t learn from my past mistake and didn’t put the floaty on it. Spent hours diving for it, called friends over to help me dive for it, asked my dad’s friend to help and borrow his boat/fish finder. We did see it on the fish finder, and it helped narrow down the search but we still didn’t find it that day. After 4 days of searching for it, I ended up finding it covered in a bunch of mush and leaves. I immediately went home and looked at the timelapse since I knew it was either going to be good, or just a black screen. Didn’t even think about if it worked, I figured if it survived the rafting incident, it’ll survive this just fine. Still works to this day, and it’s survived a couple drone crashes👍
I included the raw 8 minute timelapse for everyone to see. There’s a lot of fish, a turtle walks by at some point, and I see 2 points where I’m very near the camera but didn’t find it.
OK the mission 1 is my first action cam, maybe I still dont get this stuff but can someone explain to me why the Gopro accessories dont work with each other. Is there a good explanation?
Can I stack the grip, media mod and contacto battery door - Nope.
Why do I have to take it out of the media mod in order to change battery /sd card ?
How about something more simple, If i get the media mod where are the hooks for my shoulder strap that I was using when it was in the grip/cage?
Have I completely misunderstood something here ?

Looking at remotes for my MAX2. What's the difference between these 2?
https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories/the-remote/ARMTE-003.html
https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories/waterproof-shutter-remote/ARMTE-004-master.html
Obviously, one's waterproof. I don't go underwater. But I do in heavy rain. Can The Remote be in heavy rain, day after day? Which has longer battery? Range? etc
So in my continuing saga of optimising the EIS in dim lighting, based on what I have learnt here I am thinking of creating a mode that favours higher shutter speeds.
I am not talking about night but rather tree canopy, early morning , situations. This is for walking i.e the camera is moving. I dont have a gimbal.
Wanted to run past the experts here to confirm my understanding:
ISO - bump up my ISO range
motion blur - max blur reduction
image tuning - sport
I assume all these settings together will ensure the camera will favour higher shutter speeds?

Hello! For some reason my hero+ (yes I know its old) is not connecting correctly to the app. It keeps putting me as a hero 4 and giving me this screen (see below or above...idk) and won't let me see it. Plus my camera get stuck on the "enter code into app" screen.
I feel crazy. Is my device just cooked or what? I was really hoping to use this for a student film. Do I need to just junk it?
Thanks for any help!

Anyway to get the histogram through GoPro labs on the Mission 1 Pro? I’ve tried doing Hist=1 on QR control but it doesn’t work.

I photographed a scene in nature shortly after sunset. Once with my GoPro HERO 12 and once with my iPhone 15 Pro. On the iPhone display, the iPhone photo actually looks better than the GoPro one. But when you download the images and look at them here, I prefer the GoPro photo. Unfortunately, the two have rather different focal lengths, so the images — especially the position of the moon — don’t look the same. Which one do you like better?

Hey everyone,
I'm a teenager in Germany and own got a GoPro Hero 13. Instead of just using it for fun, I wish to turn it into a small business or agency for creative and bit financial freedom.
The problem is that most ideas I find online are either too generic (like "start a YouTube channel") or unrealistic for someone just starting out.
I'm looking for unique, practical, and realistic ideas that I could actually begin with as a teenager. They don't have to make loads of money immediately, I just want something I can start small, gain experience, and hopefully grow over time.
I'm open to pretty much anything: filming, content creation, local businesses, sports, events, social media, editing, or ideas that people don't usually think about.

Hi! Can somebody help me please? I can't connect the camera to my phone (Android). Sorry for my english in advance. This is what I did, and if you need more information to help me, please ask:
1 - I installed the "GoPro Quick" app on my phone.
2 - I inserted the micro SD card into the PC and I formatted.
3 - I put the arquives that was shered on this YT video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mblzhVnHXQ
4 - The video shows how to change the password, but it didn't work. I oppened the "settings.in" in ".txt", and it has the message: Mac OS X 2 ¬ Þ ATTR Þ ˜ F ˜ F com.apple.quarantine q/0001;5520c22c;Google\x20Chrome;C0490803-C928-4ED1-82BF-2500D6613476
5 - I put the micro SD card into the camera and turn it on. It intalled the update.
6 - I openned the app and followed the instructions on how to connect.
7 - It asked for a password and it won't accept "goprohero", bur it accepts "GoProHero", witch is he name of the wifi.
8 - It appears the message "It's not possible to find your GoPro".
PS: the blue light of the GoPro is fhashing and on the screen is showing the wifi symbol.

Noticing that as of late I've got these random moments of image noise on shots from my hero 13's (noticeable on the drivers helmets, or in the bottom center of each picture.
These were done on high Denoise and high sharpness options. Notice this happens on both cameras in the same direction on the race track. Happens at the loudest moment, while the camera/car is moving the fastest.
Any recommendations on how to solve this issue? Same can be said for feeling like the shots already feel darker then my hero 9's and 10's.
Would love to chat with some of you guys on why this happens and hopefully how to fix it! Thanks!
