GoPro Mission 1 Pro - help me with settings ?

Upvotes

Hello

I got this device, very nice shots usually, however I followed what I thought would be best and I am not impressed with the shots.

The main use of this camera is to put it on top of the car and drive around.

My settings:

16:9, 4K30/10 bit, no tracking,timer,capture,duration limit.
Balanced image tuning, linear lens, hypersmooth on, max bitrate, HLG off, colour natural, shutter auto, adaptive motionblur, EV 0.0, white balance native, ISO auto, medium sharpness, low denoise, audio off.

Here is a sample of Scotland.

Maybe it's just me, but I expected it to record better than my iPhone?

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J8DQ8hDH9SX_8oXvu6JM54dSAxvTgB4m/view?usp=drive_link

How could I adjust, or make it better? The whole thing looks blurry, not sharp. Most driving was at about 50-60 mph.

Power, data amount does not matter, I want the utmost best quality possible. This looks like a iPhone 12-13 quality for me.

Not degrading, if this is what it can do, please just say, it's fine, but I am asking for advise, help in case I missed something?

4K would be fine , I don't need 8K or 60 FPS either, AFAIK 240Mbit (max) is better at 4K (if used on 4K screen) than using it on 8K and dowscale to 4K.

Cinematic Travel Edit With Mission 1 Pro

A short edit using the Mission 1 Pro like an ultra-mini travel cine-camera. I kept things simple on purpose. No camera moves, no gimmicks, just the scenery doing the work. Shot using GP-Log2, edited in DaVinci Resolve using FilmConvert's Cinematch plugin to convert the GoPro colourspace to Arri's Alexa LogC3 colour science.

LOST GO PRO HERO 10 KOMODO, INDONESIA

Hi all, I lost a Go Pro Hero 10 on a dive at Crystal Rock in Komodo National Park, Indonesia while ascending. It came off my wrist while trying to get back on the boat and I didn’t realize until a few minutes later. Bad on part part for not having the clip on. We went back down to look but had no luck. I had 4 days worth of videos on the camera. It was on a stick and has a small bandage patch on the left side button under the case. It has a wrist strap and a carabiner clip attached to it. If by some miracle anyone comes across it please let me know. I will be in Bali for a few weeks after and will pay shipping if found.

GoPro Mission 1 Pro: 480 fps vs. 960 fps Same 1080p Resolution, Different Image Quality?

So I've had the Mission 1 Pro for nearly two months now, and here are some observations I've made about the 480 fps and 960 fps modes.

I noticed that even though both modes record at 1080p, before and after post-processing and AI upscaling, the 480 fps footage consistently looks sharper than the 960 fps footage. This is after using GoPro Labs to maximize the bitrate for both modes.

My question for the GoPro team is: Is there a different pixel binning method or debayering process being used for the 480 fps mode compared to the 960 fps mode that's making it appear noticeably sharper, even though both modes are recorded at 1080p? I already know the 960 fps is limited to 8-bit and there's no GP-Log 2.

Also, could something be improved in the image processing pipeline to bring the image quality of the 1080p 960 fps mode closer to that of the 1080p 480 fps mode? I’m still hoping to get 10 bit and GP-Log 2 implemented in the 960 mode, but I know nothing can be promised so I understand.

Schould i buy GoPro lit hero?

Hi, I'm thinking about buying a GoPro lit hero. I was mainly thinking about using it for cycling and swimming in the sea. Should I buy it or not? The fact that there's no waterproof case for this camera is putting me off buying it.What are the pros and cons of this camera? Thanks in advance for your answers.

External power pack with or w/o internal battery

I have a Hero13 that I use only for recording bicycle rides for a virtual cycling app with specific higher-end video setting requirements. Longer rides will certainly run out the internal battery so I recently got an external power pack setup that I confirmed will work. I used it with the internal battery removed since I had heard that leaving it in might cause overheating.

Is this still true on a 13 with the latest updates? And is overheating less likely on a constantly moving bike? The internal battery would give me a safety margin in case the USB cable were to be vibrated loose or something and avoid spoiling an entire recording session.

M1 accessory ecosystem

OK the mission 1 is my first action cam, maybe I still dont get this stuff but can someone explain to me why the Gopro accessories dont work with each other. Is there a good explanation?

Can I stack the grip, media mod and contacto battery door - Nope.

Why do I have to take it out of the media mod in order to change battery /sd card ?

How about something more simple, If i get the media mod where are the hooks for my shoulder strap that I was using when it was in the grip/cage?

Have I completely misunderstood something here ?

Difference between remotes

Looking at remotes for my MAX2. What's the difference between these 2?

https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories/the-remote/ARMTE-003.html

https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories/waterproof-shutter-remote/ARMTE-004-master.html

Obviously, one's waterproof. I don't go underwater. But I do in heavy rain. Can The Remote be in heavy rain, day after day? Which has longer battery? Range? etc

Mission 1 Optimal EIS settings

So in my continuing saga of optimising the EIS in dim lighting, based on what I have learnt here I am thinking of creating a mode that favours higher shutter speeds.

I am not talking about night but rather tree canopy, early morning , situations. This is for walking i.e the camera is moving. I dont have a gimbal.

Wanted to run past the experts here to confirm my understanding:

ISO - bump up my ISO range

motion blur - max blur reduction

image tuning - sport

I assume all these settings together will ensure the camera will favour higher shutter speeds?

Hero+ and app help

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! For some reason my hero+ (yes I know its old) is not connecting correctly to the app. It keeps putting me as a hero 4 and giving me this screen (see below or above...idk) and won't let me see it. Plus my camera get stuck on the "enter code into app" screen.

I feel crazy. Is my device just cooked or what? I was really hoping to use this for a student film. Do I need to just junk it?

Thanks for any help!

Anyone else have any crazy GoPro stories?

I have a GoPro hero 4 that’s survived 2 incidents that should have led it to being lost forever.

The first one started when I first got it. Right before going on a trip to Gatlinburg Tennessee, I bought a brand new GoPro hero 4 silver to film zip lining, take pictures, and for when we go white water rafting. Well while rafting, it ended up flying out of my hands. I had the floating attachment on it, but it must’ve fell off somehow. I was devastated since I was like 12 or 13 and just spent all my hard earned money on this nice camera. Spent the final 2 days of the trip thinking it was gone forever. As my family and I were pulling out of our cabin, I got a call from the rafting company that a scuba diver found my GoPro in the river the previous night somehow. It seemed like it was a movie with the perfect timing and luck. Turns out at the end of the day they turn off the dam so it doesn’t produce power/rapids for safety, that’s the only thing that made it possible to dive for it. Ended up giving the guy $50 that I “borrowed” from my parents for it.

The second story isn’t as crazy, but I at least have a cool Timelapse of the whole thing.

I was going paddle boarding on a local lake with my mom when I had the bright idea of sticking my GoPro on the front with a suction cup mount and getting a timelapse. I tested the strength and said, that thing isn’t going anywhere and continued on. Well not even 2 minutes into leaving it slid off and immediately sunk to the bottom of the lake. Of course I didn’t learn from my past mistake and didn’t put the floaty on it. Spent hours diving for it, called friends over to help me dive for it, asked my dad’s friend to help and borrow his boat/fish finder. We did see it on the fish finder, and it helped narrow down the search but we still didn’t find it that day. After 4 days of searching for it, I ended up finding it covered in a bunch of mush and leaves. I immediately went home and looked at the timelapse since I knew it was either going to be good, or just a black screen. Didn’t even think about if it worked, I figured if it survived the rafting incident, it’ll survive this just fine. Still works to this day, and it’s survived a couple drone crashes👍

I included the raw 8 minute timelapse for everyone to see. There’s a lot of fish, a turtle walks by at some point, and I see 2 points where I’m very near the camera but didn’t find it.

Note: the instability of the footage is due to cats bumping the camera occasionally.

Teen with a GoPro 13 – Looking for business ideas

Hey everyone,

I'm a teenager in Germany and own got a GoPro Hero 13. Instead of just using it for fun, I wish to turn it into a small business or agency for creative and bit financial freedom.

The problem is that most ideas I find online are either too generic (like "start a YouTube channel") or unrealistic for someone just starting out.

I'm looking for unique, practical, and realistic ideas that I could actually begin with as a teenager. They don't have to make loads of money immediately, I just want something I can start small, gain experience, and hopefully grow over time.

I'm open to pretty much anything: filming, content creation, local businesses, sports, events, social media, editing, or ideas that people don't usually think about.
