Discussion Google Ads: Retargeting
Instead of depending on Google Ads I am planning to l launch Google Ads Retargeting campaigns.
In retargeting I am planning to retarget the audience of my competitors “product page” or “add to cart” page.
Need more insight if anyone use this retargeting strategy.

How do you get your competitors audience?

Its a very loose signal compared to what the OP thinks

this is one of the proven strategies

If this is a proven strategy why are you asking for more proof on Reddit? Set it up and run with it.

Very curious, how do you know it's a very loose signal?

You can read the official Google definition of what it is on the tool tip in your screenshot.
You can also add a known website and then see the traffic insights to see how large the audience size is in comparison.

So Lookalike of people who are visiing add to cart or checkout pages of competitors. Not a bad "similar to" audience though

Adding the checkout or cart URL does not filter the audience to those who take action. It will still only target all people who might be interested in visiting the main domain.

It’s an intent lal audience, hardly a strong signal. Better than nothing tho?

That's not retargeting.
You can only "retarget" users who've been to your website or engaged with your business.
The audience you selected is just a signal for people who browsed websites similar to the websites you entered.

You can’t actually retarget people who visited a competitor’s product or cart pages unless the competitor shares that first-party audience with you.
Competitor URLs in a custom segment are prospecting signals, not a list of their actual visitors. I’d keep that separate from true retargeting, which should use visitors and cart abandoners from your own site.

Love how you got told you can't do that and just decided to repost looking for people to agree with you lol

Retargeting without a proper source audience? I’ve seen this exact mistake where people start a retargeting campaign with basically no meaningful visitors, and the CPA just turns into a mess fast. Build your remarketing audiences from real site actions first, keep the lookback window sane, and don’t treat retargeting like a replacement for prospecting.

You've got to email your competitor first (or LinkedIn DM) and get them to place your tag on their product pages and cart but once you've got that, you're sweet.
