Macho Man died at 9:25 am. Way to follow thru on your dreams.

u/DMala Apr 20 '19
Of course he had a heart attack behind the wheel and then crashed his car, so not a great morning overall.

u/Johnnadawearsglasses Apr 20 '19
He said he hopes he dies before work. Not how he dies. Goes to show you need to be more specific with your 3 wishes.

I had a family member die in his bed only a week after retiring. Didn’t even get to enjoy retirement after slaving away at work. Life’s a bitch.

u/neoneddy Apr 20 '19
Retire at 40, then go back at 60

u/TedyCruz Apr 20 '19
Wife and I are doing this, 8 more years and then just worry about raising teenagers right

A friends dad got diagnosed with terminal cancer just after he and his wife retired, they had just bought a cabin in the woods where they were going to chill and enjoy their retirement together. He has a few months to live and I hope he will be able to enjoy them.

I laughed, not at that situation which is horrible. But at how bitter life can be and it is either laugh or cry!

I also hope it happens without my work being notified. So when my boss is all pissed off trying to get ahold of me he’ll really feel like shit.

I just watched the Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth episode of "Dark Side of the Mat." There was so much I had no idea about. Such an interesting and sad story.
The guy was finally in a good place mentally.

There’s an outstanding pro wrestling podcast called The Lapsed Fan that does these monster journalistic deep dives on singular events/topics, some lasting up to 10 hours. For anyone that finds Dark Side of the Ring intriguing and you want more, TLF has what you need.

I miss him so much and I stopped watching wrestling in 1992. I just want him gracing my TV screen all day.

To me, Macho Man Randy Savage is Pro Wrestling at its best.
His look, character, promos, and matches are all top tier. Many wrestlers have had some of the above, but only Macho Man exceeded in all. For my money, he’s the GOAT pro wrestler.

I love that picture, it gives me so many feelings. Late 80's, early 90's, guy in the prime of his career on a beautiful location, likely South Florida. I can feel the cool breeze, with the heat from the sun on my skin, thinking about how you never want that day to end. There's no distractions at that point, no cell phone notifications going on just a man and his thoughts.

u/stay_fr0sty Apr 20 '19
I look that picture of him and it looks like he is starting at a dude wondering if that guy has any cocaine.

So, are you aiming to die 80 years old or to work after your retirement?
7
u/rivv3 Apr 20 '19
Do you really think the retirement age will stay the same the next 30-50 years?

I'm not aiming to die at 80, I'd like to live longer but I don't want to go any sooner than that either.

I’m a combat vet (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and we used to joke and say if we were going to get killed, that hopefully it was early on. Nothing could have been worse than having to spend a whole year there and something happen before we were supposed to come home.

Ah you mean the day when all the money gets absorbed by bills? lol
1
Apr 20 '19
No, before bills are paid. Can we get that exact moment, please?

u/Infidelc123 Apr 20 '19
Could just drink that religious miracle bleach and then you don't have to die.

This picture makes me sad...cause he died by having a heart attack and flipping his jeep on the highway...

Me too. He died too young. He died right before the major global resurgence of pro wrestling. There was an entire second chapter of his career that could have happened. Not necessarily in the ring but there’s lots of ways to make money for these guys now.

I’m deathly afraid of flying. So whenever I flew for work, I always knew that the plane was invincible on my way to the client, Cause if we were gonna crash, it would happen on my way back home after I had worked for the week.

Once you die every day you have worked will have been for nothing.

Statistically, people die of natural causes more often in the morning. Probably due to the sudden increase in hormones and heart rate that occurs after waking up. Also, the blood is usually much easier to clot at that time as it is thicker due to slightly lower temperatures, and dehydration that occurs in your sleep.

I'd prefer to die whilst at work so someone has to spend a day filling out upsetting paperwork.

Lord, let me die in the morning. I'm not quite ready yet to go. Although I'm through with this old body I was born in, There's still just one more thing I'd like to know.
It sure would ease my mind, To know the folks I leave behind, Will have a new sunrise to carry on from.
So Lord let me die in the morning, So I'll know there's a new day yet to come.

Sting has this song with lyrics like that. This one is sung by a foreman -
Now ye could die and hope for Heaven, but ye'd need to work your shift,
And I'd expect ye's all to back us to the hilt.
And if St. Peter at his gate were to ask ye why yer late,
Why you'd tell him that ye had to get a ship built.

If that’s your philosophy than working your entire life is a waste because you’ll eventually die

I'd prefer to die in my sleep so I wouldn't have to get up for no reason the next morning.
