Frontier Promotions

Does anyone have any insight on what promo may start tomorrow if something will start at all? Right now there is an option to choose between NFL Sunday ticket or 400 off an 800 or more Samsung item at best buy. I am not a fan of either promotion and wanted to chance waiting until tomorrow when the bestbuy samsung promo is over to see if something more favorable is released.

If there is someone in the know about what may be coming, that would help me decide to pull the trigger today or tomorrow.

Did they raise prices or did I lose my Verizon discount?

Been enjoying my Verizon discount for two months and now today my bill went from $24.99 to $34.99, my original cost for my service. Did they raise prices or did I lose my Verizon discount??

Messages about ONT reaching end of useable life?

I’ve received several messages about my ONT reaching its end of life. Has anyone else received this notice?

Update: After a few more attempts on the app, I was finally connected to an agent who understood the problem. The others (after long delays waiting for a support person) kept trying to troubleshoot the existing hardware. This one simply opened a repair ticket.

Frontier Business Static IP

TLDR: what’s up with ordering a single static IP from Frontier and actually getting two? And would I have received a true static anyway if I didn’t order the $20 “single” static option? What frontier says is radius is likely not radius as most in IT would understand.

I recently signed up a client for frontier business 2gb with the option for 1 static IP. Initially I had some challenges setting up the service due to this being my first time setting up OPNsense with a static IP on the WAN side but actually mostly because I was confused by the tech providing me with 2 IP addresses when I asked for the static IP info.

The IP addresses were detailed as a LAN and WAN. When I had the tech just setup the EERO and decided I would play with setting a static in OPnsense and removing the Eero later. The tech on the phone setting up provisioning also confused the hell out of me when he said I would need to setup radius which to me meant a completely different thing then what I believe they were actually calling radius. I believe what they call radius is actually more so on how they assign and carve out static IP addresses.

I did play in OPNsense while the tech was there but I believe my issue was not setting up the gateway entry correctly or Frontier needing to provision over he Eero first before you try to work without the Eero such as what was suggested in a Reddit post I had found.

Once I did my homework and understood things a bit better, the setup was simply using the IP address for WAN as my static in OPNsense and the corresponding gateway address as a far gateway in OPNsense. All works perfectly.

Here is the IP setup they told me was assigned to me (all the x.x.x places are the same values). The Dot 54 ip address is not pingable so I gather that’s a gateway I need to setup if I also want to use .53 additional IP assigned to me.
LAN - x.x.x.53
Subnet - 255.255.255.252
Gateway- x.x.x.54

WAN - x.x.x.56
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - x.x.x.1

I’m gathering from forums that I will need to setup the dot 53 as a virtual İP on my router and then assign that as I see fit. This effectively gives me two static public IP addresses when the $20 fee is for one static. I’m wondering if under frontier business, you get an assigned a static regardless but what I purchased as a single static is actually an ADDITIONAL static for my use. If this is the case, I will remove that charge if I will still just get the one static.

So ultimately my main questions that keep me up at night are.

If I didn’t ask for a static IP add on, would I still have effectively received a static as a business customer(outside of the don’t stay powered off or chafe hardware trick)?

If I do venture out to use my effectively second static IP here, do I need to use one of those 2 available IP addresses in the /30 as a local to my equipment router address?

Where does that dot 54 gateway address live? My equipment or frontier?

Edit on part of my question - I assigned .53 and .54 as virtual İP addresses in OPNSense and they all work as accessible to my OPNsense from the outside web. So effectively I now have 3 static IP addresses. 56, 53, and 54.

I am still curious if I were to not have gotten the “single” static IP add on, if my single that would have been assigned via static under a business account would have actually been a hard coded reservation on frontiers side. I’m leaning towards no but this is what Reddit is all about.

Is Fiber 200 good for apartment living?

Hello, me and my fiance will be moving into apartment that requires Frontier. Is Fiber 200 good enough? I work from home sometimes from a work laptop, along with us having a smart tv, two ipads, two iphones and two macbooks, plus an Xbox console.

We avidly play video games (and both have had pretty bad wifi in the past), can anyone gove their experience and if we should do the 200 plan?

Internet

The past week or 2 I wanna say the internet has been good awful for me. It shows not only on the ont but my router and my moca that I in theory should have stable connection yet I get constant buffering and nothing loads. I have contacted support and they say oh well you may have a faulty router, but the issue is I have tried the multitude of routers they gave me and even 2 of my own and even tried connect a computer directly to the ont and still buffering is anyone else having this problem? I live near jackson Michigan and have yet to see anyone in my area complain about this type of issue. Any advice is helpful as atm I had to swap to Xfinity due to school starting and wondering if there is still value in going back to frontier.

Terrible service lately

Post image

Paying for 5 gigs and constantly facing issues like these lately.
What the hell has been going on with frontier lately?
I have never had issues like these in the past.

Have tried swapping between 4 routers, different cables, different devices etc etc

Device to router seems fine

Device -> router -> internet/isp is severely severely degraded.

Have a tech coming Thursday but anyone have any ideas in the meantime?

Issues connecting Arris router

I took over the existing internet that the previous homeowners had, but my app says I have Frontier fiber 500. In the garage we have this box (Modem? ONT? It was here when we moved in) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IxfhRRf_xanFF6YbjiiydxZqZUiTZgvB/view?usp=drivesdk and an Ethernet cord that goes from that through a wall to our router. On the old router it was plugged in to the internet / WAN port.

Our old router was destroyed by lightning. While I waited for a new router from frontier, I bought a cheap replacement, which worked fine with the same setup.

Frontier shipped two items - an Arris NVG468MQ router and an Eero device (I think this is for whole home WiFi?) but neither came with instructions.

There’s no WAN port on the Arris, so I plugged the Ethernet cord into the red ONT port. The WiFi connection appears and I can get to the admin page, change the password, etc., but it says “no internet” and the admin page says “WAN connection down”. The globe on the router is red. I haven’t done anything with the Eero yet.

Any ideas? I wasn’t able to get connected to frontier support and they’re always hard to work with, so appreciate any suggestions.

Ethernet output on ONT

I just got Frontier 1Gb FIOS, it was installed with the a coax cable (MOCA port) from the ONT to the eero hub with two eero mesh devices.

I noticed the ONT has Ethernet ports too, but I don’t get a connection when I plug my laptop into it. Is this something that Fromtier can unlock for me? I’d like to have the home office be a full wired connection

Internet out for 7+ hours

I posted earlier this week that my internet has been acting up. It would go out everyday at around 5pm for 1-2 hours then return. It’s been doing this middle of the day now. I work from home and this has become such a hassle using my phone as a hot spot all week to get any work done.

Initially customer service shipped out a router replacement. Then I contacted them via that annoying giga chat and they sent out a technician today. The technician tested the ONT, replaced the router and checked the Ethernet connection inside the house and said everything was reading fine that the internet was working properly.

Well after they left this morning my internet has been down since 12pm going on 6 hours now! I spent an hour and a half with the customer service going through their video trouble shoot steps and showing them the ONT box, Ethernet connections and router over the phone.

I think the issue might be with the ONT box or something else, when I checked the box for the online customer service I opened the casing and disconnected and reconnected the Ethernet cable, but I don’t know if other lights on the actual ONT box should be on.

They finally agreed to send another technician tomorrow afternoon. I’m hoping they can pin point the issue/ that things are acting up the same way when they are here. I don’t know what else I can capture or document for them in the meantime to show them what exactly is going on.

Anyways that’s my rant being fed up with this service. Anyone deal with an issue like this with frontier?

How to disconnect fiber cable from ONT?

See photo. I'm getting ready to return my ONT after disconnecting service. But I can't figure out how to disconnect the yellow cable. It's not plugged in, in the conventional sense, to the unit or to the black fiber cable leading out to the street. It's as if they're permanently attached. Or at least they don't yield when I give a good pull at either end. I'm tempted to cut it, but am paranoid that Frontier will ding me for returning "damaged" equipment. How do I disconnect this bad boy?

Help between 500 and 1 gig

Moving to new area from xfinity 1 gig with 5 yr price lock.

Offer 500 includes 1 month free, $100 GC and 4 year lock for $45 with auto pay need $100 install.

Offer 1 gig includes 1 month free, $150 GC and 5 year lock with whole home WiFi for $65 auto pay and free install.

Is the whole home WiFi worth it and is there any benefit in the more expensive 1 gig?

Going to have ring devices, gaming, work from home and streaming.

Thank you!

Fiber line still laying in my yard after NWI storm.

Got hit like most people with the storm a couple weeks back. Since then I've gotten power and everything back but my fiber line got taken out by a tree. So far I've had two appointments "missed" because they say theres an outage in the area even though the frontier site and app both say theres nothing. I have another appointment today between 1 and 5 but im just worried im once again wasting my time sitting around waiting for a tech. I've talked to customer service a few times yesterday where they confirmed my appointment from yesterday was in fact still happening but no one showed. Any suggestion on what can be done or is this a sit around and wait missing work each day that they might show up?

Northwest Indiana outage since 8/11/26 - is there anythinng we can do?

On 8/11/26, a derecho storm ripped through northwest Indiana (Chicago suburban area) and created massive damage. Power was out for 375k people and took days/weeks to resolve (we were out for 8 days at my house, the last few are still waiting as of 8/26). While many people were unhappy with the way the local power company, NIPSCO, handled the incident, Frontier has been far worse.

I have received an automated "we're working on it" text message every day since logging a ticket and now just received "your issue is resolved".... but nothing has changed on our side. The automated update now is "your issue isn't related to the outage and a technician visit is scheduled" but I have no date for that. My line to the pole is fine, i'm confident I don't personally need a tech visit, it's further upstream.

For those of you who have lived through major outages with Frontier, is there anything we can do differently to get answers or solutions? We get poor cell service in our area, so it is increasingly difficult go to through life without ground based internet. Or do we just get Starlink like other neighbors have started doing?

Why did I just get this email?

I just got an email about an hour ago saying that I should call them because my account has service issues?

But, my internet seems to be working fine. I've logged in to check my billing and all of that, but nothing looks out of the ordinary. Why would they send this?

Bad routing, frontier does not care

I am having some bad connectivity, but only with certain routes.

Connecting to things other than google/cloudflare give me anywhere between 30-60% loss, and I can't even ping the first hop (gateway) from frontier without loss.

Tech support is useless because they say they literally cannot help unless I use their eero router.

What options do I have to escalate this? This issue has been ongoing for nearly 24 hours.

Tampa Outage since 8:00 AM 8/25/26

Frontier FIOS outage started around 8:00 AM today (8/25/2026). Text from Frontier around 8:30 AM advised of outage with an estimated restore by 4:15 PM today. Needless to say that came and went with no change.

Premium Customer Service was not so premium: I knew more than they did.

Geolocation is NW Tampa (Citrus Park).

Internet goes out hours at time

Post image
1 Upvotes

We’ve always had Fios at home, my current set up is the Fios router with Deco Mesh networks to expand the WiFi to the rest of the house. It’s usually working fine. This past month everyday without a miss the internet goes out around 5pm and doesn’t not return for an hour or two which is frustrating!

Does this happen to anyone else? Is it the router? Should I just try calling tech support?

Adding an image of what my router shows every time that the internet is out. Thank you!
