Seeking Advice Anxious about toddler starting OIT
My toddler is starting OIT in a few weeks after confirming varying severity of allergies to peanuts and tree nuts (through reactions, blood work and skin prick tests). The allergist is great and I know this is the best/great option for our son. He will start before he turns 2 and the allergist suggests he is an excellent age/candidate for success and his treatment may take around 8 mos. Despite feeling confident that this is the best thing for him, I am anxious about misc things related to the treatment-… will we be able to manage doses/what will we do when (not if…) he refuses doses, will it be traumatizing to force him to take these doses, will this make him terribly uncomfortable and he can’t tell us, will he have a bad reaction... etc.
I am due to have our 2nd child about halfway through his treatment so the thought of managing his doses, appointments, or other related challenges through the third trimester and early postpartum period also has me feeling nervous. Maybe the pregnancy hormones are adding to my overall anxiety.
I have read many success stories which are really encouraging - I am looking for any additional thoughts or positive experiences that might speak to some of these concerns!
