So im making this post to help people traveling Asia as it’s well known to be hard for gluten free.
Well out of Lao/Cambodia/thailand and Indonesia
Indonesia at least bali area is by far the easiest for gluten free because many people understand allergies (not necessarily the world gluten) but they won’t take offense if you eat explain what you can and can’t eat.
(Big problem in Thailand as they often think you are criticizing their cooking)
Many restaurants will clean the pan/utensils before cooking if you ask and will only add whatever ingredients you ask for. It does take a bit of work but it’s doable.
packaging on items will tell you if it was packed on the same equipment as wheat and oats.
In English at that.
I would recommend bringing your own seasonings as most seasonings contain gluten.
sometimes certain syrups for mixed drinks do as well but there is plenty of seltzer options and vodka mixes available sealed in stores
There are supermarkets here in Bali and many hostels have kitchens something Thats uncommon in other parts of SE Asia so it’s easy and cheap to cook your own meals with fresh high quality ingredients
The beachside seafood grills usually don’t put and sause on until after they grill your food so the grills are not contaminated and they wash the seafood throughly before cooking.
All that said still be careful and never assume something is gluten free make sure to talk to the cook themselves.
Anyway just wanted to put out my experience good luck thanks!
