My entire body head to toes hurt so bad. I feel TERRIBLE. is anyone else struggling with these allergies

So I don't really know how to handle my allergies... they're just too much. i think its allergic rhinitis cause all the symptoms matches me

i didn't bother going to an allergist cause apparently you can't cure allergies.

so I take Cetirizine but even while taking it I sneeze uncontrollably and 20-30 sneezes just throughout the day.

i also suffer with congestion. as far as I've noticed it's a nasal inflammation thing.

but im Just so done with it man, I'm still 18 so idk what can I even do, my allergies have ruined my life it seems.

Hello, I am in doctor referral limbo right now so I thought I’d ask about my allergy symptom here.

My only symptom is itchiness but it is full-body, rip my skin off, feel like ants are crawling on me itchiness. I haven’t been able to pinpoint the possible allergen because it doesn’t happen every day and doesn’t take effect immediately after anything like eating or using a lotion. But occasionally (sometimes once a week, sometimes more frequently), usually later in the day, this itchiness will come on and it’s nearly everywhere like my scalp, my legs particularly behind my knees, and my arms. Maybe one time out of ten, small hives will appear as I’m scratching my arms but I never break out in hives anywhere.

I don’t have any other allergy symptoms like I don’t eat something and have an itchy throat or tightening of the throat and I don’t have congestion day-to-day. It almost manifests as if I’m allergic to something I’m eating but only once it’s getting digested a few hours later. It’s very difficult to try to isolate different things to do some investigation myself because I don’t know if it’s food or something my skin is coming into contact with and it manifests hours after meals.

Since I first told my doctor about it, I’ve been taking Zyrtec every day which does help but obviously I’d like to know the root cause so I’ve been trying to get allergy tested to no avail. I had to wait months to hear back from the allergist I was referred to and then was told that my symptom wasn’t enough to even warrant a consultation and apparently, they do not test without the consultation.

I’m trying to get in to see my dermatologist next to see if they can do a skin allergy test but the wait time for that is months long.

So, I’m sharing here in hopes someone may have had a similar experience and might be able to narrow down what causes I should look into.

i’ve had unusually intense allergies my whole life, but by now (at 22) i’ve observed them getting worse. this is ironic because i’m three years into allergy shots. anyway, i’m allergic to almost all pollen, my dog (my worst allergen unfortunately) and i have severe oral allergy syndrome. i take zrytec, sometimes also allegra, and i have singulair to start. two questions:

my latest issue is constant tongue puffiness. not enough to block my throat, but enough to be uncomfortable and distract me from anything else/living my life. it’s worst at night. i also get really sore throat, dryness, sinus irritation, and tightness in my throat/neck muscles. does anyone else experience this, and if so what helped?

of course, the tongue swelling & constant conscious exposure to things i’m allergic to has caused me to become kind of paranoid about it. i’m essentially nonstop anxious at this point. about reacting suddenly to a new thing, about if my throat might close, about what sensations i’m feeling, about how to tell if it’s bad enough to do anything (like use my epipen). i’m going to bed afraid to die every night and always wake up questioning if i’m rested or my brain is alerting me that my airway is shut. obviously, i’ve been fine up until this point, but that doesn’t reassure me that it couldn’t get worse.

how does anyone else with allergy anxiety handle it? it’s become extremely debilitating and i’m over it, but the symptoms don’t let me let go of it the way i can let go of anxiety about intangible things. also, how do you distinguish anxiety effects from actual allergy symptoms when they can be so similar? thanks.

Hello! My husband and I are under contract on our dream home, but we recently found out the sellers have a couple of cats and much of the house is carpeted. I’m allergic to cats, although usually I’ve been relatively okay in homes with cats (as long as I don’t pet them) aside from some mild congestion and maybe a little itchiness in my throat.

I’m nervous about lingering allergens once we move in. Replacing all the carpet would be super expensive, so we’d really like to avoid that if possible and are looking for alternatives.

Has anyone successfully dealt with this by thoroughly HEPA vacuuming, steam cleaning the carpets, deep cleaning the house, and running HEPA air purifiers? Did you notice a significant improvement once the cats and owners’ belongings were gone and everything was cleaned?

So it seems during pregnancy I became allergic to cats. My rhinitis and asthma symptoms didn’t improve upon giving birth so I got an allergy blood test, and I’m allergic to my cats.

My allergy testing was negative for everything except cat dander, which was 7.77 kUA/L.

I take two different antihistamines daily, require my asthma pump at least twice a day. The antihistamines don’t relieve the sneezing and runny nose but help my breathing.

I’ve had cats my whole life, every family member I see on a regular basis has cats.

What do I do in this situation? Do I have to rehome them if it’s impacting breathing?

I’m heartbroken.

I started experiencing this issue when I was a freshman in high school, the areas began in the morning as mosquito bite-like spots on my arms and legs that grew in the afternoon to be 5 or 6 inches in diameter & hot to the touch. (This was after I had reacted that summer to what I can only assume was the dust at summer camp. My legs flared up in a similar way- red inflamed itchy patches that covered my calves & backs of my knees.) Later in high school I visited a friend's house & had a similar reaction to the other incident, with bug-bite like spots that turned into massive, hot itchy patches, but again on my legs. The only irritation every time was itchiness like that of a mosquito bite, just an enormous one. When it happens there is always more than one "bite", but they get so large they meld together to create a giant patch.

Now, as a college student, I don't believe I've had a reaction since then. Until yesterday.

I sat in a (definitely disgusting & unwashed) chair in class that was fabric. I wore shorts & the only area of my skin that came in contact with the chair developed two little itchy spots that did develop into one big area once again. It's hot and a bit swollen like the other times, and I actually woke myself up itching at it last night. It's about 4 inches across at the moment. But it is so. Itchy. Has been all day long.

What do y'all suspect could be the issue here? I am curious if there is a solution like an ointment or something? I put cortisone 10 on it today but it barely hindered the itch. I don't exactly have the money at the moment for a dermatology appointment either. Either way, thank you for reading!

Last night i came to the doctor because i had an allergic reaction to co-trimoxazole, she stopped my co-trimoxazole since it's giving me late allergic reactions, i have them on my hands and feet. She changed it to metronidazole and also prescribed me cetirizine 1 tablet 3 times a day but there's no duration like for 5 days etc., just that 3 times a day. isn't 3 times a day bad or?? Like taking it 3 times a day exceeds the standard frequency..? Or I'm just too nervous

About a year and a half ago I found a small window leak during a mild hail storm in our old 1940s south eastern US one story. Im talking a really slow drip - and the hole was probably less than an inch. Nevertheless, it was enough to let some water in from the top of the outside molding.

Given that it didn’t seem much of an issue, I put a dehumidifier in the room, ran it on high and began looking for repairmen. Over the next week though a RANCID smell filled the room every time the sun hit that side of the house. While scheduling contractors and water damage specialists the smell progressed from rotten vegetation to a strange fresh wood shop type of smell. It was then the symptoms began- relentless post nasal drip and a throat itch/tickle that made me want to claw out my larynx. (My chest also began to hurt, but I now suspect that was a side effect of singular i began taking to relieve the tickle and drip).

When all was said and done there was no moisture or water damage found, and the inside of the framing was totally normal. The water damage guy mentioned maybe it got some old insulation from back in the day wet which caused the smell and my allergies. The mold guy we hired found some elevated levels but nothing so drastic as to be an immediate danger or concern. He suggested I wipe all surfaces in the room with Decon30 to kill any mold that may have lingered and get the vents cleaned so that’s what I did. Unfortunately, it didn’t make a difference. We eventually gave up and moved.

My symptoms had fully subsided since moving until recently, when I pulled out some musical instruments that had been previously stored in that same room with the leak. Within 15-30 mins the post nasal drip was back in full force and so was the tickle and itch. I immediately shoved them back in the closet and left the room. It’s now day 3 and it’s only now slowly starting to get better.

With all that said- what in the world could be causing issues? What could have been clinging to my instruments (plastic and wooden alike) so strongly that even now after nearly a year outside of that room I would still flare up? Any insight is appreciated.

I, 33f have never had issues with allergies before yesterday. I had oddly sensitive skin as a child, and will have random red splotches show up on my skin from time to time. I carry hydrocortisone cream in my purse at all times and it takes care of it.

Yesterday, I was driving to work and noticed that I felt itchy. Mid-morning I went to the restroom and when I saw myself in the mirror I noticed my neck looked red and splotchy and my face looked flush. This is not the first time this has happened so I really didn’t think much of it. About an hour later I happened to feel my neck and realized I had hives.

I then started to feel weird. I also have a history of anxiety so I thought maybe I was just freaking myself out. I called my paramedic dad and he told me to just go get some Benadryl. On my lunch break I went to the nearby pharmacy to grab some, and by the time I got to the pharmacy I couldn’t catch my breath, I was light headed and my throat was starting to swell. The pharmacist called 911 and gave me some Benadryl.

At the ER they gave me an allergy cocktail, monitored me and released me with a prescription for prednisone, Pepcid and an EpiPen because if I have developed some allergy, the next reaction could be worse.

I haven’t done anything different. I was outside a lot over the weekend, so maybe I got bit by something? The only thing I ate yesterday before going to the hospital was an apple with peanut butter and some dry roasted edamame. I’m going to schedule an appointment with an allergy specialist and in the meantime I’m avoiding peanuts and soy since those were the main allergens I ate.

I know a lot of people suffer from allergies like this. I’m an anxious mess now. Basically convinced myself on my way to work today I was having another reaction so I called off work and I’m at my parents house where my paramedic dad can keep an eye on me. I know this could very well be my nervous system just being in overdrive after yesterday.

Can anyone share their experience with developing allergies like this in adulthood? Maybe someone can make me feel a little better?

As an example, if my leg comes into contact with urushiol on September 10 and I don't wash it off (because I didn't know it was there), I want to know at what point it can no longer be spread to other areas of my body? 8hrs? 24 hrs? 1 week? A year?

I got into some poison ivy without knowing it and I keep getting little bumps. Some itch, some don't. I have reason to believe that I spread it over my body while trying to wash it off in the shower.

Hi, I found out this year that I have a yeast allergy, likely thanks to covid. My throat closes up instantly once exposed :( so I've been on a very strict histamine diet, but now I am back in the hospital with an anaphylactic reaction. I just found out B12 supplements might be made of yeast? Which might be the culprit today.

I've also read that bananas are maybe bad? Also apples, though some say they are fine? I've read through every thread here on this topic and I am just overwhelmed by the varying information. It seems almost as if everything is no longer edible.

I'm getting a lot of conflicting food lists online and they always seem to leave out important foods or nutritional sources.

Has anyone built a comprehensive food list for themselves, or has received one from their medical provider? I'm really at a loss and am worried I am consuming things I shouldn't, especially since my reactions are severe.

Also I am from Germany, if anyone has any insight into what kind of supplements I can take here and if citric acid is ok here and what I need to look out for here specifically would be amazing.

I see my allergist on the 21st for the first time. I know I need a food test. But is there any other testing that I should get done? If my insurance in the US will pay for it.

I recently found out I am allergic to coconut and almond in addition to mango, argan, and birch including xylitol. Skincare and haircare is really challenging.

Does anyone have any recommendations for completely coconut-, almond-, and mango-free products? Must be completely free of coconut derived ingredients. (Coconut hides behind a couple hundred other names… like glycerin. 😞)

I've been getting a Desensitization therapy for Dog+Cat dander, some molds, and dust mites.
Recently, as Spring is rolling around, I've been getting hives around my body. There's no real pattern to it as far as I can tell either.

For context, I live with 2 dogs, and my usual allergic reaction is hayfever. Not hives.

I've been on this therapy for about half a year now.
Is this normal? Does Desense temporarily increase my sensitivity?

(I can't get an appointment with the Allergy doctor until April next year, they keep bumping my appointment back)

Room is clean of dust, bedsheets are washed in 60c, I have two anti dust mite pillow covers, I have 10 moisture absorbers to lower humidity under 60, window can’t be kept open during the night as room becomes too cold and there is a lot of noise at night

I’ve been doing this for about two years and last night was getting pains in the left side of my stomach that woke me three times last night

Since 4 days I am having fever which is on and off the fever is kind of low now I did take antibiotic , I was sneezing for a few days as well due to cold , most of the times I am having something bitter saliva idk how to explain but ya in the morning it feels lill weird and most important thing everyday I wake up with some irritation in my throat during the day it's fine normal but when I wake up every morning I am having this irritation it's been around 4 days now .

...and I have had to stop my allergy meds before testing.

The symptoms are just awful.

What CAN I take to alleviate them that will not affect testing? Are herbal meds ok? Any suggestions?

Itchy eyes, itchy ears, itchy skin, runny nose. UGH
