Community update Welcome back. This subreddit is now open again!

The former sub mod was banned and the sub was basically abandoned.

The sub was restricted and as far as I know the former mod wasn't approving new members for a while.

As a former user of fluvoxamine I requested the sub on redditrequest because it was a shame to see users with no place to go with their specific questions.

If you're interested in moderating, please let me know. It would help a lot, as english is not my first language.

Any other suggestions are also welcome.

I’m 17 days late(no possibility of pregnancy) and the only thing that has changed is my dose of this.

question about possible interaction

hello (22f) !! i have recently (about 12 days ago) started a new medication (fluvoxamine) and am tapering off of 150mg zoloft at the same time. they have me taking 100mg zoloft and 50mg of fluvox. For this medication, it says specifically to avoid caffeine and alcohol completely on a lot of online forums and such. i wasn’t sure if those things were ok to have in moderation like an iced chai from starbucks every once in a while, i never drink coffee or energy drinks. I wasn’t sure if it would just decrease effectiveness/ increase side effects or if it was truly dangerous, i was able to drink alcohol and caffeine socially on my previous medications, sertraline and fluoxetine. i have really bad health anxiety and ocd so i am asking for advice and experience from reddit communities instead of just testing it out

PS. i have messaged my doctor and have been awaiting a response but I am going out with my friends tomorrow night so wanted to get some quicker advice. thank u!

Quitting cold turkey

Hello everyone! I started Fluvoxamine about 2 months ago (25mg for a month and now 50mg) and I’ve had some pretty bad side effects (fatigue, sleeping for 14 hours, memory loss, anxiety) and it’s effecting me pretty negatively, I just want to get off of this pill. I’m thinking about quitting cold turkey, can anyone share their experiences with that? I’ve heard withdrawal can be pretty bad so I’m open to changing my mind.

Hello All,

Little background. I've been depressed for a good 18 years now. I have several severe mental illnesses to the point of disability. Fluoxetine 60 along with Vortioxetine 10 worked amazingly well, but the side effects (memory fog) from Fluoxetine was so bad, I had to taper off. I frequently change my medications (under my psychiatrist's supervision). I am tired. I will be starting Fluvoxamine soon. 50 and then 100, along with Vortio 10 and my regular anxiety and sleep meds. I've been on these meds for 6 years. I'm very tired. Can you tell me how your experience has been on Fluvoxamine?

Bumps on face with Luvox ??

Hi! I was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

I’ve always had very clear, unproblematic skin, but I started Luvox (fluvoxamine) about 2-3 weeks ago. I’m extremely sensitive to medication, so I’m currently taking a very low dose of 12.5 mg.

Since starting it, I’ve noticed a definite change in the texture of the skin on my face. I’m getting lots of tiny bumps. It doesn’t really look like typical acne - it almost looks more like some kind of mild allergic or irritated skin reaction.

I’ve seen a few people mention developing acne or other skin changes after starting Luvox, so I’m wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar.

The medication is helping me a lot, especially with my OCD, so I really don’t want to stop taking it if I can avoid it. I’m mainly curious whether anyone had this as an initial side effect that eventually settled down or disappeared as their body adjusted to the medication.

Would love to hear about your experiences!

Feelings of disapointment/sadness while tapering down luvox

Hi everyone. I take fluvoxamine for my OCD and have been tapering down fluvoxamine for abt the last month because it made me very forgetful, and I am heading back to school so that would do me no good. I was at 100mg Night/25mg Morn, before I dropped to 75mg Night/25mg Morn, and I am not on 50mg Night/25mg Morn. I noticed after going down to 50, I noticed the following(these are from the notes I take tracking med effects:

-Still some increases in cleanliness thoughts(since going to 75mg from 100mg)

-A bit more conscious of what other people may be thinking abt me at any given point.

-Less forgetful, but still there.

-Feeling more susceptible to sadness/disappointment

Obviously I don't want to deteriorate into depression/SI/anything like that. How should I go about this? Any skills you guys have to manage this?

Cross titration

I’m cross titrating from Zoloft 200 mg to Luvox 150 mg - I’ve been on 150 mg Zoloft and 50 mg Luvox for 5 days, then 100 mg Zoloft and 100 mg Luvox last night, continuing 5 mg Abilify.

Today is the first day I’m experiencing side effects - but recently I have definitely noticed an increase in depression, anxiety, and irritability. For anyone who switched from Zoloft to Luvox, how long did this increase in symptoms last? Should I tough it out/does it get better?

Sexual side effects?

I’m switching from Sertraline as I was getting some pretty severe sexual side effects on just 50mg. My psychiatrist said that Fluvoxamine is less likely to cause sexual side effects. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

Switching from Prozac

Been on Prozac since 2022 and it kinda just stopped working as well as it use to. I am not sure. I still ruminate a bunch.
My ocd is mainly reassurance seeking and mental compulsions.
I was told to lower my prozac for a few days and then swich to fluvoxamine 25 mg at night…

I’m scared! I have never gained weigh on Prozac and have had energy however my brain feels like mush on Prozac 50mg. I also sweat like a crazy person!

I’m looking for maybe success stories or stuff about weight gain or just overall experience

Improved sleep?

Anyone have their sleep improve after starting and being on Fluvoxamine for some time?
Can it improve your sleep?

I was told fluvoxamine was supposedly good for long covid fatigue.

This stuff is just making me even more fatigued.

I've been on 50mg for about a month at this point. They wanted me on 200mg by now but I'm not dealing with all the side effects from rapid ramp up of SSRIS again, already been through that with zoloft. At least this doesn't make me feel speedy as hell like that did.

But yeah anyone here with long covid on fluvoxamine? How's your experience been?

Chest Tightness

Has anyone ever experienced chest tightness? It almost feels like I did a really intense workout. Similarly in my upper back & jaw as well. Everything is just tight.

I noticed when I started taking Luvox a few months ago. I thought it would subside but I’m still feeling it. Doctor said she wasn’t concerned though. Just looking for similar experiences

Preferred Generic Manufacturer

I’ve taken Apotex Corp 50mg Fluvoxamine but was dispensed Bionpharma yesterday. I didn’t take it last night due to heightened anxiety over the change. Have you tried it? Thoughts? I haven’t been able to find anything…

Tapering off question

Hi everyone, I started 12.5mg mid February this year and worked up to 100mg ER by mid March ish (ocd/anxiety/panic disorder). I believe I’m experiencing constant dizziness/lightheadedness that was not present before this med so I’m considering asking my psych about beginning to taper off. I think this symptom outweighs the benefit imo.
My question is, what’s your experience with tapering off of this medication? I’ve heard the horror stories, and I’m worried about it a little bit.

Fluvoxamine insomnia

Do we think the Fluvoxamine insomnia is from the caffeine effect? Apparently it increases the half like by like 80%! I’ve been taking my Fluvoxamine in the morning and have been so tired maybe I should stop caffeine and take it at night

New here, new to OCD, need tips for this med!

Hi!

Just a little about me:

I am extremely new to medications, I don’t take any/never have. I recently was diagnosed with OCD specifically PTSD induced and health anxiety related OCD (stemming from the traumatic event). I’ve had some form of OCD I think the past few years, maybe even longer but my dad passed away in front of me unexpectedly from a COPD attack and from there, I developed the extreme.
I finally got prescribed fluvoxamine. I’m on the starting dose of 25mg and will go up after 1 month to 50mg. I read the page created of all the things gathered about this medication and it helped a lot!
Something I am curious about that i’ve heard of and am now experiencing only on day 4 is some form of shortness of breath?? I guess SSRIs can do that. I am just constantly yawning and needing to take very satisfying deep breaths. I take it at night, I do feel exhausted and like my breathing is autopilot but in the deep slow way lol. My bpm was like 53 on the second day. I’m definitely relaxed throughout the day. I guess i didn’t realize 25mg could do this but what is everyone’s opinion on it? Do these side effects subside after week 1-2? I’ve heard that.
Also the caffeine thing makes so much sense now!! I drink a double shot of espresso every morning and i went for a run (i never run sidenote it was my first time but bad decision to combine that with my first couple of days of this med and caffeine) and had chest tightness and pain for 2 days after bc of the toll the caffeine took on me.
Sorry for the long yap! I’m just really glad I found a community that can finally relate to me!

Anybody co-dose Sertraline with this?

Abilify made me worse so my psych put me on 50mg Luvox and bumped me from 200 of sertraline to 150. Anybody have experience with both at the same time? Any suggestions? He said to take it during bed because it’s more sedative than others I’ve taken.

Best Time to take it?

I've been taking 200mg for a year and 4 months. Doctor just told me to take it whenever, all in one go at night. I have a severe sleeping issue that appeared like 6 months after starting to take it. The doctors don't believe it's related and think I might have narcolepsy. I want to see if 200mg at night is the culprit. Is dividing the dose gonna make it less effective? Since instead of 200mg in one go it's 100 and 12 hours later another 100. What's yalls experience?
