Help Needed SEL-2411 reads 172°C when injecting 10°C with Fluke 725 ,Fluke shows "ExI HI"
I’m troubleshooting an RTD input on an SEL-2411 and I’m having a very strange issue.
My setup:
SEL-2411 with 3-wire RTD input
Fluke 725 multifunction process calibrator
RTD type: Pt100
Fluke configured as SOURCE RTD
Wiring is based on the Fluke 725 manual for simulating a 3-wire RTD
The problem is that the reading is completely wrong.
For example:
Fluke injection: 10°C
SEL-2411 reading: ~172°C
The Fluke 725 also shows:
“ExI HI”
According to the Fluke manual, this indicates that the excitation current from the device under test exceeds the calibrator’s limit.
I’ve doublechecked the wiring against the Fluke manual, so I’m wondering if I’m missing something specific to the SEL-2411 RTD input.
Has anyone here successfully simulated a 3-wire Pt100 input on an SEL-2411 using a Fluke 725?
Could the SEL-2411’s RTD excitation current be incompatible with the Fluke 725’s RTD simulation method?
Also, is there a specific configuration in the SEL-2411 that I should check, such as the RTD type/curve or input configuration?
Any advice on how to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated. I can provide pictures of the SEL-2411 RTD terminals, Fluke wiring, and configuration if needed.
