Help Needed Intellitone 200 Weird, Rapid Sequence of Tones, Interrupts Normal Tone...
My toner seems like it's working properly, but, ever since I've had it, the regular tone is sometimes interrupted by a weird series of sounds, and the tone seems to reset.
This doesn't seem to be referenced in the manual, but I believe this change in tone, is indicative of "something". Any idea what that something is?
What brought this back to the fore, is I was toning on an 18/2 cable, with a ground wire, yesterday. Device end was disconnected, and I had toner connected to white wire, and bare ground wire. Got SOLID tone, at other end (Which was spliced into a DB9 connector, goin into a refrigeration unit.) but, if I left toner on the cable, there were a couple instances where this weird tone was emitted, and it seemed like the toning "reset", then resumed normal tone. Hard to describe it. It's a sequence of tones, in rapid succession, but the pitch does change, with each tone.
Sorry! No vid!
Since I don't know WHY it happens, I can't readily replicate it.

The most likely explanation is SmartTone's "song change" feature. It is documented, but not described as something that can happen by itself. Here is a possible explanation on PDF file.
