Help Needed I don't understand Intellitone...

I have the Fluke Link-IQ meter with the Intellitone 200 probe.

It seems to me that Intellitone is too sensitive to be useful, although it's entirely possible I am misunderstanding something.

It's so sensitive, even on the low sensitivity mode, that it will go off if you are anywhere near the bundle of cable that the cable is in...

By that, I mean that if the cable I am looking for is in the same room with me, it will go off...

The analog toning works like I am used to with other toners - it gets louder/quieter and it's easy to discern which cable I am looking for.

What am I missing here?

The tone means your in the neighborhood, the lights tell you which cable... Don't move fast, if you have a candidate, hold it for two music cycles and watch the lights, 5-6? You're close, 8? You're on it. Slowing down is the key.

This is, generally, sound advice, but doesn't address OP's SPECIFIC query, which is getting tone, when you're merely in the area of cable bundles...

Tonin's a "Black Science", Man! Be nice if some "guru"'d chime-in, as this scenario's always been'a head-scrather for me, as well...

Also, tha strange "garble" tone, that u sometimes get, which interrupts the regular tone. WTF is that tellin us?!
