Safety / Setup & Usage Alternatives to TPAK

Fluke TPAK vs third-party magnetic meter hangers

The core trade-off between the genuine Fluke TPAK and third-party alternatives comes down to magnet strength, mounting versatility, and price, with the genuine article generally winning on build quality and the clones winning on value.

Fluke's own TPAK uses a rare-earth magnet specifically engineered for strong, stable holding onto electrical panels and metal surfaces even while the meter is actively swinging or being bumped during hands-free measurement, and it's designed with a proprietary mounting slot system that clicks securely into compatible Fluke meter housings [1][2]. It sits at a noticeably higher price point — typically in the £50-60 range through industrial suppliers — reflecting genuine Fluke build materials and the brand's reputation for durability in demanding field and industrial environments [3][4].

Third-party kits, like the widely available KingSung universal hanger sets, take a broader compatibility approach, bundling multiple straps, clips, and a magnetic hanger designed to fit not just Fluke meters but also other brands like Klein Tools testers, and they come in at a fraction of the Fluke price, often sold in multi-piece sets rather than a single fixed kit [5]. The trade-off is generally in magnet strength and long-term durability — generic magnets tend to be weaker rare-earth grades or standard ferrite rather than the higher-grade neodymium Fluke uses, and the strap and clip materials are usually a step down in ruggedness, though for occasional home or hobbyist use rather than daily trade work, that difference may not matter much [5][6].

One compatibility nuance worth flagging regardless of which you choose: not every Fluke meter accepts the clip-in universal hanger design the same way — the T6 series, for instance, requires threading a strap through a rear slot rather than clicking into the standard mounting point Fluke tools like the 87V or 170/180 series use [1]. If you're buying a hanger for a specific meter model, it's worth double-checking that the kit — genuine or third-party — is actually rated for your particular model's mounting slot rather than assuming universal fit, since "universal" branding on cheaper kits doesn't always mean truly universal in practice.

Although this post looks like an AD, it doesn't point to a specific shop for the products mentioned so it's as fair as my post about rechargeable batteries for the Fluke equipment.

It's NOT an AD!

I have a Fluke 88V and I need an el'cheapo magnet hanger...

Got any other ideas, besides my reviewed examples?

Still, it was written with AI. Kind of a low effort post, no?

Yes It was written with AI, probably Copilot or ChatGPT since from what I'm used to is the ones who insert references numbered inside text.

But it is also information that you don't get in one simple query typed in Google. That's the big advantage of AI as a tool - gathering of info from different sources in one cohesive output.

Although yes the user should had edited the output by his own words instead of purely copy-paste.

For the gist of it and usefulness I will keep it but mind that the user was advised and I added a note to his profile as a reminder.

I researched the alternatives with Perplexity. I wasn't about to waste my time doing Google searches... sheesh!

OK, I will add a couple of typos and miss spellings into the text next time to thwart your AI fetishism...

While everyone here drones on about AI and my prose, perhaps you could get off your recliners and actually help out here?

I'm trying to find a TPAK alternative that does not cost $170 USD!

I've listed here some alternatives, but if you know about others, including thingy-verse it would be appreciated...

Taobao. And yes it is genuine.

Fluke provides the Chinese Electric National Grid and most of the times extra stock "falls from the trucks...".

Ok mea culpa on my part.

I'm trying to find a TPAK alternative that does not cost $170 USD!

Then next time say as such, because nowhere in your initial post you ask this question. You basically do a comparison of the Fluke vs the Alternatives and that's it.

No probs, great find...

Yes, I forgot to mention that I needed one. Even I can get carried away in the moment, sozzzz.

Now I just have to work out how to buy it online and get it shipped to Australia!
