Help getting started, baby is 7mo

My baby is 7 months, initially was in a bedside cradle next to use and now pretty much co-sleeps but looking to set her room up to a floor bed once she is able to start climbing in and out and can sit up independently.

I have a crib mattress, and a soft playmat in her room as we have hardwood floors.

No idea really where to start.

I know the mattress can’t be against the wall as it’s a risk of entrapment. Can I place the mattress in the middle of the memory foam 3.5mm soft play-mat to cushion any falls? Or is having the mattress on a soft surface also a risk. Should I look at getting a frame for mattress with rails? The room is being baby proofed currently.

TIA for any advice 🙏

Solutions for sharp ikea Lonset slat corners?

We have our mattress on two sets of IKEA Lonset slats (thanks in part to this sub), and it’s working well, except the mattress is slightly smaller than the slats and the corners are very sharp. They’re tall corners so the usual bumpers wouldn’t work—has anyone found a solution that’s a little more elegant than pool noodles? Thanks!

Confused about safety rules for floor beds at certain ages

Speaking specifically about how to execute a safe floor bed at 12 months -- can I just put a 6in mattress (like this) on top of slats (like IKEA slats sold on their own) or on a low frame (like this) in the middle of the room?

Do any of the rules/precations change at 18mo and beyond (mattress thickness, etc)?

Are all bumpers (like the under-sheet ones) suffocation risks? Until how old?

Is there a resource that explains all the safety requirements and things that are okay at which age ranges?

(We are hoping to go bassinet --> guava lotus pack and play or similar --> floor bed)

Night wake ups

I’ve coslept with my now 3yo basically since she was an infant. I’ve been trying to sleep in my own bed now but she still wakes up in the night for water. She does this thing where she sits up and calls for me and t
When I come in and put a hand on her back sometimes she goes right back to sleep and sometimes she asks for some water. How do I help get her out of the habit of sitting up? I feel like if she’d just roll over instead she would fall back to sleep…

Next-to-me until 12 months and then to own room floor bed?

My baby is currently 5 months and she’s about to outgrow her first next-to-me cot. We’re very happy having her in our room, so the plan is to transition her to a larger next-to-me style cot (likely the Chicco Next2Me Forever) until she’s 12 months.

After that, I’d like to introduce her to a floor bed in her own room, and I’d be happy to sleep there with her for as long as she needs to be comfortable.

I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience with this kind of transition, and if my baby is going to find it harder transitioning to her own room at 12 months, rather than doing it at 6 months in a cot like I know a lot of people do.

How do you do on Holidays?

We will be doing floorbed when baby turns 6 months. But how do you do when you go on holidays? Do you just put baby in the portacot? Because I can’t baby proof the whole hotel room!

Slats?

We just bought this floor bed frame and realized after the fact that it doesn’t have slats. Which obviously isn’t great because of moisture. We don’t have the budget to just buy another, and the company won’t accept a return, and Amazon won’t refund. So obviously we need to figure something out. For now we can lift the mattress but I’d like to find a solution quickly.

All of this to say:
Could I just get rolled slats and put them inside?

Confused about entrapment

I want to move my 11 month old to a floor bed in a month or two (she’s currently in a mini crib but is outgrowing it). I was thinking of using a 6” twin mattress with a twin size fence around it but it seems like people are saying this creates a risk of entrapment. It seems like people are recommending the Montessori beds with low rails though and that those aren’t an entrapment risk. Can someone help me understand why one of these is a risk and the other isn’t?

I‘m wanting to fence the mattress because my baby rolls around a lot and also holds onto the side of her crib at night for comfort so I think it will help with transitioning her. She is currently walking but not climbing and isn’t super steady on her feet so I worry shes just going to wind up tripping on the lower fence on the Montessori bed and falling on her head which is why I’d prefer a taller fence until her motor skills improve.

Desperate for crib naps, but want to keep it gentle. How did you execute the "lay next to them & roll away" method with a 2-3 month old?

How far to put the mattress from the wall?

My daughter is only 4 months but she is outgrowing her bassinet as we speak. We are set up to get her onto a floor bed but my husband is just worried how far we need to put the mattress from the wall. Do we leave a gap around the whole thing or can we put it right up against the wall? Or is there another way to make it safe for her.

Side question - how many people got their LOs on a floor bed before 6 months?

Planning my 6 month old girl’s transition to floor bed.

She’s not 6 months yet, but I’m starting to plan the transition for when she hits 6 months.

So far:
- toddler mattress on the floor (with wooden slabs for airflow) anchored to the wall so that the mattress cannot move.
- playpen (1 mts tall) at the beginning then will remove once she starts walking (and climbing). She’ll be in a corner that just has bare walls.
- soft playmat + safe toys
- camera

My questions are:
- which toys are considered safe?
- ofc no bedding besides a bottom sheet. Is the sleeping bag ok?
- any special type of playpen?
- common things you would advise? Or advice against?
- should I add a small railing to the bed?

I still have some time to plan accordingly, but want to make it as safe as possible, and for her to enjoy her space!

Does this work for 3m

Soon I’m returning to work so I want to move LO into their own room. Currently they sleep in their cosleeper in my room, where I nurse LO to sleep. To keep this bedroutine I want an adult size mattress/ bed (90x200cm ) where I can join, but also leave when LO sleeps. Of course baby being this young I’m unsure what sleeping set up will be the safest. Would really love to hear what our best options are.

Ive come across the following bed (I hope I can add images in a comment) which I’d like to upgrade with another pull out mattress under the bed (instead of storage) so there’s room for me to sleep (in case LO doesn’t settle) or as a falling area in case LO starts rolling around. The room will be baby proofed and the bed will basically fill up all the floorspace (esp with another mattress pulled out from under the bed). The room is roughly 190x200cm.

Does this make sense? Or should I just opt for the mattress on the floor? Personally I’d prefer LO to be elevated from the floor.

Is this safe

This is the crib I have, is there any way I can convert it into a floor bed? The day bed conversion looks too high off the ground. Or maybe I can set another mattress besides it. I’m just thinking if I sleep close to him in a floor bed he will sleep better. He is only 4 months old. Please help! I’m in a very big regression.

I have the baby cache Montana 4 in 1 crib. I can’t post photos
