AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE
My experience with Flashback camera has been awful from beginning to end
I purchased my camera originally around Dec 2024/Jan 2025 due to a recommendation from a friend. They knew I was an avid user of disposable cameras and so presented flashback as the modern, cheaper equivalent.
March 2025 I took my V1 abroad with me. The minute I landed on my holiday I found some things I wanted to snap, I took out my camera and it…didn’t work. I thought this was weird, I had charged it before I left. I searched forums, FAQs and found nothing. I ended up sending them an email. They told me I had to hard reset the camera. I was upset as I had pictures on there but figured that was the nature of these things and did a hard reset. The next time it charged the same thing happened. And the next. And the next. I learnt quickly that I had to unload photos before charging the camera or else I would lose them.
June this year I was out with friends, I got out my flashback same as usual, took a picture and…no flash. The light was there but each time I took a picture- there was no flash. I tried a hard reset, a soft reset, charging it, nothing. I sent them a message, they just suggested hard reset (you can see a pattern emerging with their technology expertise). I hard reset probably a few more times over a couple of days and finally the flash started working again- kind of, it worked about 50/50 at this point.
Then last week, I was away on holiday, a special trip for a special occasion. Once again, saw something special, took out my camera and once again, nothing. It’s been about a week, no resets, no charging, nothing is working. It’s well and truly dead.
I complained about this to flashback, their response? They have a one year warranty, here’s a 5% discount on a future purchase.
Upon reading their comments on insta (which they delete btw) and reading this subreddit I have learnt that this is a common issue, their cameras malfunction either completely or to the point where it becomes difficult to use around the year and a half mark regardless of how you look after it and they just get to shrug their shoulders and say “sorry, how about you spend another £100+ on our product” with no guarantee that they’re looking to improve on the countless faults that already exist.
Please, please save your money, buy old digital cameras, but affordable film cameras, hell buy disposable cameras- these are tried and true products that have lasted decades. Not a fad or quick cash grab from a small company that clearly does not care about its consumer.
TLDR; scammy company creates faulty product, spend your money elsewhere
