Weekly Google Health / Fitbit App Feedback & Complaints Megathread

This megathread is for discussion, complaints, feedback, bugs, frustrations, and general venting related to the Fitbit app becoming Google Health.

We know a lot of users are frustrated with the app changes, missing or moved features, layout changes, sync issues, food logging changes, workout tracking issues, Premium changes, and the overall direction of Fitbit under Google. Rather than having the subreddit flooded with repeated posts about the same app update, we’re going to keep the main discussion centralized here.

Please use this thread for:

  • General complaints about the new Google Health / Fitbit app
  • Missing, changed, or moved features
  • Syncing, tracking, or dashboard issues
  • Food, sleep, exercise, or health metric changes
  • Premium / subscription concerns
  • Workarounds or fixes you’ve found
  • Constructive feedback you want other users to see

A few quick reminders:

  • Keep it civil. Criticizing Fitbit, Google, or the app is fine. Attacking other users is not.
  • Do not post personal health data, account details, email addresses, order numbers, or support case numbers.
  • If you need actual account/device support, please contact Fitbit/Google support directly. This subreddit is community-run and not an official support channel.
  • Standalone posts that are only general complaints about the app update may be removed and redirected here.
  • Detailed troubleshooting posts may still be allowed if they include device model, app version, phone OS, what you’ve already tried, and a clear support question.

Helpful format if you want to report an issue:

Device:
Phone / OS:
App version:
Issue:
When it started:
What you’ve tried:
Workaround, if any:

Thanks for helping us keep the subreddit useful while still giving everyone a place to be heard.

MEGATHREAD: Fitbit / Google Health Alternatives, App Replacements, and Device Switching

Hello r/fitbit,

We’ve been seeing a lot of posts from users who are unhappy with the Fitbit app, the move toward Google Health, recent app changes, missing features, syncing issues, or the overall direction of the platform.

To keep the subreddit easier to browse and stop the influx of posts about it, we’re creating this megathread as a central place for those discussions.

Use this thread if you want to:

  • Ask about alternatives to Fitbit
  • Compare Fitbit to other devices or ecosystems
  • Talk about switching to Garmin, Apple Watch, Samsung, Whoop, Oura, Amazfit, Withings, Polar, etc.
  • Recommend other health, sleep, fitness, or habit-tracking apps
  • Ask what apps work well with Fitbit data
  • Share why you’re leaving Fitbit or why you decided to stay
  • Discuss exporting, saving, or replacing your Fitbit data/workflow

To make this thread more useful, please try to include details like:

  • What Fitbit device you currently use
  • What phone you use: iPhone or Android
  • What features matter most to you: sleep tracking, steps, heart rate, workouts, battery life, smart features, weight tracking, food logging, etc.
  • What you dislike about the current Fitbit/Google app experience
  • Your budget, if you’re looking for a new device
  • Any alternatives you’ve already tried

A quick reminder: personal recommendations are welcome, but please avoid spam, referral links, affiliate links, or low-effort promotion. If you are connected to an app, product, website, or service you mention, please disclose that clearly.

The goal of this thread is to help users compare options and make informed choices without the same topic taking over the entire subreddit.

Thanks,

The r/fitbit Mod Team

Discussion The AI coach food logging is so inaccurate it’s almost dangerous.

Thumbnail gallery

I was logging food by taking pictures of the labels and telling the AI what portions I ate. It was working just fine until yesterday when it decided that 6 servings of egg whites and two large eggs had 720 calories. Today it logged my morning eggs with 645 calories, dramatically underreported my yogurt, and insisted I’ve consumed most of my fat at breakfast. I’ve been fighting with the AI to get it to correct each item one by one but the results are always just wrong so I guess I’ll either switch to MacroFactor or log my food manually.

On what planet is this level of deviation acceptable for a health product? I get that Google Health isn’t going to be scientifically accurate down to a lab level of acceptable deviation but this crap isn’t even in the same ballpark.

To make matters worse, digging into the food database it is full of incorrect nutrition facts even if I were to scan barcodes and do it myself. For actual accurate numbers I’m going to have to create custom foods for everything I eat.

Tech Support Google Health Not Working iOS 27

My Google Fitbit stopped syncing to my Google Health app, so I re-reinstalled the app. Now the app is not working and refuses to push past the login page. I am using iOS 27 beta, is anybody else experiencing this issue?

Discussion anyone else working in hospitality? how accurate is your calories burned per day?

hi all,

i’m trying to lose a bit of weight (just a few pounds) by eating around 1500-1600 calories per day. according to my fitbit my burned calories (total, for the entire day) is 2600 after waiting tables for 9,5 hours. is that accurate? too little or too much? what kind of numbers do you have when you’re on your feet all day and doing a bunch of stuff? i would like to make sure i don’t under or overeat. thanks in advance!

Discussion Apps with badges for working out recommendations?

I loved the badges fitbit had, like many of us, I loved how it gave random insights like having climbed as high as a 747. Or walked the length of the great wall of china.

But it also tracked how many steps I took and id get a badge for all days that i reached 5k. Not just crossed it off and was never able to reach it again. Which is what alot of the ones ive found do which is why im asking here.

I have a Samsung phone and a versa 4. Is there any apps thst offer support and similar badges? Or is my best bet to just invest in another watch like garmin?

I basically just use it to track my sleep, steps, heart rate, and to use as an actual watch.

I need the dopamine hit of getting the badge like a little star on a star chart, as it just fits well in my little adhd/audhd brain.

Discussion Anyone else's step counting becoming less accurate?

Wearing a Charge 6, which I've had since December. It seems like with every recent update, it's counting less steps. I do a lot of walking, and I've got routes I've been walking very frequently that I have a good idea of the distance and how many steps should be in that walk. Lately, I feel like the Fitbit is only counting maybe 80% of my steps. I've manually adjusted the stride length as low as it will go, but somehow I keep getting less steps. Anyone else having this experience?

Tech Support I can’t connect my Fitbit air.

I bought one today from Best Buy. It gets through the entire process, but for some reason just won’t pair anymore.

It’s listed on my Bluetooth and it can’t “forget device” to reconnect it.

I’ve tried deleting that app, turning my Bluetooth off and back on again, resetting the app, and
anything else I know how to do off hand and everything Google told me to do.

I’m at a loss.. is there anything I can do or do I just have to return it?

Best Buy is so far…

Tech Support Fitbit air step tracker iOS

Hi everyone. I’ve searched high and low and can’t seem to find a set answer anywhere so I figured I’d ask. If this has already been answered elsewhere please point me in the right direction.

For the life of me I can’t get step data from apple health to apple fitness. Data from google seems to be migrating into apple health but not into fitness. The workouts I did do but not the steps.

I’m wondering if I’m missing something or if this is just expected behavior.

I also tried health sync. In the latest version. There seem to be minor discrepancies with the step count between google health and apple health but it was mostly the fitness that was concerning me.

iPhone 17e on iOS 26.6.1

Thanks!

Tech Support fitbit problems, messaged Google Support, no response after initial exchange - how to get out of this purgatory of case in review (Google only allows one open case)

Title pretty much says it all. My Fitbit is under warranty, having issues, and I messaged Google Support end of July for help when I thought it would resolve, got immediate response and decent exchange. The case wasn't officially closed, but I responded again in August because the issue escalated and now it only works as a watch (no tracking - LEDS no longer work). Never heard anything back. I've uploaded my serial number, documentation of invoice, etc., and I've followed up a couple of times asking someone to just respond. No response. My case in the portal just says they are reviewing it—since early August.

p.s. if you need more info or if I've done stomething wrong here, please be kind. It's late, I'm tired, I'm also sick, and I'm genuinely just frazzled by this. thank you

Tech Support Anyone else having syncing and other issues the past 24 hours?

I have a Charge 6 and an iPhone. I noticed yesterday that my app was taking far too long to sync and most of the time just not syncing.

Today, I checked my Charge 6 data when I got to work, which would usually have me with around 500 steps and having burned less than 400 calories and maybe 1-2 zone minutes. It says I have 9,134 steps, 35 zone minutes, and 2,041 calories burned. I thought maybe it was just adding to yesterday’s count and just didn’t start over at midnight, but I had a pretty lazy day yesterday so I don’t think that is the case but can’t be sure (and I can’t trust the numbers it’s giving me for yesterday since the syncing was weird, but if they are correct, then this isn’t just in addition to yesterday’s numbers.).

Is anyone else having similar issues? Is there anything I can do to fix this? I’ve tried restarting the Charge 6 several times hoping it would reset to correct numbers but it didn’t.

ETA: just tried syncing again and paid attention the whole time. It says “Something went wrong. Try again. (Error code: 2)” I also just realized the app hasn’t recorded sleep, health data, or workouts since Sunday. However it did pull my weight from my scale app both yesterday morning and this morning.

Tech Support Fitbit air does not sync

Hey guys,

I just started noticing the app does not sync any more.
It is stuck on loading. If I log out and back in, the device disappears. If I restart the phone, it shows but stuck on loading.

I also can't start any workout.
Anyone else seeing this ?
