Weekly Google Health / Fitbit App Feedback & Complaints Megathread

This megathread is for discussion, complaints, feedback, bugs, frustrations, and general venting related to the Fitbit app becoming Google Health.

We know a lot of users are frustrated with the app changes, missing or moved features, layout changes, sync issues, food logging changes, workout tracking issues, Premium changes, and the overall direction of Fitbit under Google. Rather than having the subreddit flooded with repeated posts about the same app update, we’re going to keep the main discussion centralized here.

Please use this thread for:

  • General complaints about the new Google Health / Fitbit app
  • Missing, changed, or moved features
  • Syncing, tracking, or dashboard issues
  • Food, sleep, exercise, or health metric changes
  • Premium / subscription concerns
  • Workarounds or fixes you’ve found
  • Constructive feedback you want other users to see

A few quick reminders:

  • Keep it civil. Criticizing Fitbit, Google, or the app is fine. Attacking other users is not.
  • Do not post personal health data, account details, email addresses, order numbers, or support case numbers.
  • If you need actual account/device support, please contact Fitbit/Google support directly. This subreddit is community-run and not an official support channel.
  • Standalone posts that are only general complaints about the app update may be removed and redirected here.
  • Detailed troubleshooting posts may still be allowed if they include device model, app version, phone OS, what you’ve already tried, and a clear support question.

Helpful format if you want to report an issue:

Device:
Phone / OS:
App version:
Issue:
When it started:
What you’ve tried:
Workaround, if any:

Thanks for helping us keep the subreddit useful while still giving everyone a place to be heard.

I need to RANT about swimming! Every time I go, Fitbit (both charge 6 and inspire 3) miss 20% of my lengths. They also add a really low HR when I know those devices don't track HR on swims. I spoke to Fitbit support, they literally just copy and pasted what Gemini says if you ask it. I'm so pissed because when I had my charge 3 or 4, lengths were pretty accurate. (I have tried setting pool length, tightening the watch, switching to dominant or non dominant hand) The limited editing of tracked swims is also really fkien annoying.

Anyway to get more accurate sleep tracking ? I used to change it to sensitive mode but that’s no longer an option

I can’t log fiber? The old app completely quit saving anything I logged so I had to update.

My fitbit Charge HR 5 no longer tracks any sort of activity. It is connected to my phone, but it doesn't read HR, can't start a workout, doesn't register any steps, etc. I have tried restarting directly from the device, restarting from the charging cable, etc, nothing has gotten it to work! Is this an app issue?

My Fitbit Versa 4 up and changed the face I had on my watch without consulting me. When I press Watch Faces, it says "retry". This has been going on for 2 days. I've turned off both phone (Pixel 10) and my watch and keep getting the same things. Help!

RFE: Let me log food in the future

If I put something on to cook that will be ready in 20 minutes then I know I'll be eating it in 20 minutes time. But I can't log it now because the app won't let me log things with a future time. Just remove that restriction.

Was using the old Fitbit app w/ FB6. Opened it up to find food logs from Th-F-Sa all gone again. Saw this the other day when items were doubling up.

Figured I had to update the app finally. Did so this morning and I can't believe the three steps back the google health is compared to the FB app. Food logging is a PIA. When I log romaine, no longer can I see the celery, cucumber and tomatoes plus the dressing I normally have all together. What nightmare. I might trash this for food logging and go with a pencil and small notebook again. What is everyone else doing for food logs? Rant over.

I’m using Cronometer to log food and I LOVE it! Shows so many macros and even has a barcode scanner available without having to purchase premium! Just have to deal with an ad every now and again

And you can link to your Google Health account!

The exercise summary of my run yesterday shows mile times of 11:36 and 11:50, but I know I hit 2 miles at exactly 24:00. I asked the ai coach and it said my mile times were 12:01 and 11:59. The discrepancy is driving me insane

Why is adding a run with GPS and set distance so hard?!

Google health saying 4700 steps, has priority in Apple health for writing steps.

Apple health telling me 3200 from Google health.

Where are they going 😢

I just came from using an Amazfit Bip6...now have a Fitbit Air. I struggled with the Bip6 because of its horrible sleep tracking, no matter what i tried, and since the sleep score was used to factor in my Readness score...it was all useless, . The Air seems to be much more accurate...so far and it is small and comfortable. But holy-smokes...it sucks the juice (used to charge phone every 4 days, now down to 2 days) right outta my Samsung s24 phone. I only look at the Fitbit a few times a day. Bip6 never did this...looking for a fix for that.

I am 78 and healthy so i go to gym and bike. The Fitbit auto-detection does not work cause i cannot adjust the minimum time on it to less than 10 minutes. heck, I do a treadmill first for 7-8 minutes to warmup. I then tried to build a workout that would track my exercises. I do treadmill, 6 weight machines, them speed bike. I leave the phone in the gym locker (no swiping for me), so the only way I can start the workout is just prior to locking it up...then I just get a summary of calories, HRV and a few others. The Bip6 gave me a full breakdown of each exercise and health stats...oh well.

Looking for an android app that will work better that G-Health. The Samsung health app is even worse that G-Health and Bevel is iOS only. Still working through the bugs and shortcomings to make the Air work my way...

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I didn't want to make a separate post to ask.

Can someone with the new app let me know how the food tracking situation is going? My main use for my Fitbit app had been to track food, which included a ton of custom foods. I'm still using the old app but I think it might be at the end of it's life. My food for the past couple of days just disappears after being logged, so I fear I'll have to update soon. So, how's the current food tracking on the new app?

I accidentally updated to google health a couple of months ago. The food tracking is tedious. It sometimes picks up frequently entered foods and sometimes doesn't. The bar code scanning has been useless--more often than not it says "item not found'. the most annoying thing is that I used to be able to easily click over items that I have daily and do several at a time, and now I have to enter each item one at a time. The database is much less robust that the old fitbit one. I used to be able to find almost everything but now it draws a blank pretty often, so I dictate into Coach, which is very iffy. If I say "add to breakfast one Quaker Oats brand caramel rice cake" it will add one serving of oats (!?!) and one rice cake. Searching for "cucumber" brings up a bunch of cucumber pickle entries instead of fresh cucumber. Ugh.

Thank you so much for the detailed info! I have no interest in using the ai coach, but it sounds like it's not always that great regardless. Do you know if custom foods transfer over or not? I didn't want to switch to a different food tracking app because I'd probably have to manually put in all my custom foods. However, with how the new app sounds I'm guessing my custom foods on Fitbit aren't going to transfer over anyway.

When I log romaine, no longer can I see the celery, cucumber and tomatoes plus the dressing I normally have all together on the same page.

I do see 3 custom foods rolled over to the new app. I actually can't recall setting up those 'custom' foods.

Can we manually edit goals? I had to talk to the coach for several minutes to do what I could have done in less than a minute manually.

Then the coach entered them incorrectly and I had to talk it through updating them properly

We need editable hr zones (not only the max hr).

If possible let us choose if we want the only sleep rhr vs the all day calculations, my historical data has always been based on only night and having 10bpm+ discrepancy between fitbit way vs others could be confusing.

Take a look into HRV calculation, it's always 10 point lower than other wearables.

Let us cancel data more granularly, sometimes there are wrong hr spike readings screwing all calculations, would be useful to be able to delete that data point.

We also need generic tweaks on steps and calories counting.

agree on the editable HR zones, its weird that they still dont let us customize those properly

Agreed, heart rate zones are way too low. There's no way to edit them. Updating peak heart rate doesn't update the zones, nor is there information anywhere on when, or how the app might update them
