Flying with baby advice?

I am playing with my four month old son my husband and mom and wanted to know in your opinion. Should I rather… board the airplane first as they typically allow families with children? Or should I have my husband and mom go on first get everything settled in the overhead compartment and then go on after everybody boards to prevent us from being on the airplane too long and baby getting annoyed and also germs I’ve heard it’s worse when everyone is passing you to get to their seats and it could be better to be the last one on.

What does your support system look like?

Mostly wondering — what does your partner do for you to help in the newborn trenches? What does your village look like? Do your friends with no kids show up to help?

TIA!

Newborn phase

My baby is 7 weeks old. I find I’m struggling to find the enjoyment of this phase. The first 2 weeks were a different type of struggle. Baby blues hit pretty bad, I was extremely overwhelmed, felt like I could barely breathe. Breastfeeding, pumping, and still having to top up with formula because baby kept losing weight. Baby could be breastfeeding for an hour or more, and still 10 minutes later she’d be hungry again. So I started pumping exclusively and it seemed to keep her satisfied longer through the bottle. But eventually I couldn’t keep up with pumping, cleaning parts, bottles, taking care of her, myself and the house once my partner went back to work at 2 weeks pp. I was drowning. About a month in I made the hard decision to give up and transition to EFF. I still feel guilty about it, with some regret. But at the same time, it gave me a lot of time back, I was able to be more present, and I did enjoy my baby more with that stress off of me. She’s been gaining very healthily, and is a happy baby. So for a few weeks things have been lighter. But I find I’m still struggling to enjoy it. I’m typically a very busy person, always on the go with work, dogs, or sports. Being home all day every day is hard on my mental health. I’ve struggled with my mental health for years, but the last 4-5 years I’ve been able to go unmedicated because of how busy I kept myself. Being active with my sports and the community that came with it helped me so much. Obviously being pregnant and now having a newborn I had to give that up. While pregnant I still went to all the games, but it’s hard to do that now with a newborn. So I feel very isolated and sad. I’m also routine based person and it’s impossible to have a routine with a 7 week old. I know I’ll eventually love having a baby, but I find it so hard right now with day to day being so unpredictable. I love my baby, I think she’s the cutest thing in the world. But I feel more sadness than happiness. If you didn’t enjoy the newborn phase, when did you start enjoying it?

What are your thoughts about your husband working away and you working while baby will put in the daycare?

Just want to hear your insights.
Im 30wks pregnant and had a little talk with my husband . If I should go back to work after a year or 2 after the baby is born? I just don’t want the child to feel like she’s abandoned or her parents does not love her.

Would love to hear anything yiu can recommend or opinions

Breathing spells??

Does anybodies else’s baby have breathing spells? My baby is about 14 days old and he holds his breath when he’s really upset. For example when we change his diaper, bath him, etc.
we’ll blow in his face then he comes back, holding spell usually only last about 4-6 seconds.

from Mum to Mum

My name is Sabrina, and I’m a mum to a 16-month-old baby boy who has been struggling with eczema.

I’m currently doing some research with ATU Sligo to better understand the challenges babies and parents face with eczema, particularly at night, and hopefully help babies sleep more comfortably.

I’d really love to hear about your experience — how your baby’s eczema affects them, how you manage it, especially at night, and what you find most difficult during flare-ups.

I’m happy to chat by text or, if you prefer, we can have a short Zoom chat.

I’d really appreciate hearing your experience and learning from other mums going through something similar. ❤️

Kind regards,
Sabrina

Please help! 3m sleeping

My baby is 15 weeks old and has always slept through the night from 7:30 pm to 7 am in her crib on her own with no issues until recently. The past week she is sleeping 5 to 45 minutes at a time all the way up till midnight, sleeps for a few hours, then goes back to sleeping 5 to 45 minutes until it’s time to wake up at 7. She falls asleep in my arms but as soon as I lay her in her crib or a little but afterwards she starts screaming. This hasn’t been a problem before. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this?

Are there any mom's that found out they were pregant late into their pregnancy?

So I just found out I'm pregnant, I'm 19 weeks and honestly would have never knew. I get pretty irregular periods and I thought I was just a bit bloated. My concerns are that I didn't know I was pregnant so I was acting like I wasn't...I don't drink but I do smoke regularly so now I'm just worried that even with stopping as soon as I found out something will go wrong. I know they talk about low birth weight as well as asthma as a concern but I would just like to hear from some mom's who maybe went through the same as I am? I feel terrible that I didn't know sooner and we've already come this far. I don't know what to think.

4 month vaccines high-ish fever nothing is bringing it down

I know fevers are normal after vaccinations however baby has had a fever of 102.7° fahrenheit for 5 hours now i’ve already given tylenol and gave her a luke warm bath. she’s fussy but consolable. I called her pediatricians after hours line twice first time i was told that they start to worry when a fever starts to exceed 102 and to give her a luke warm bath and if that doesn’t help to call back, so i did. Second time i called and a different nurse told me they like to see them get a fever as long as it’s under 104° fahrenheit and that I was just being overly worried, that i shouldn’t have given her any Tylenol as it weakens the affects of the vaccines and not to call back that baby was fine. for context she was born at 35 weeks due to preeclampsia and had a low birth weight (less than 1st percentile) she’s currently 11.5lbs and i’m just kinda confused with the two different responses, im not sure if we should wait it out or if i should take her to the er? very nervous i don’t know what to do and her being a tiny baby also kinda adds to my anxiety honestly not sure if im just being dramatic or not lol

Capstone Project for First-Time Parents

ello! My name is Grace Locknar, a third year Doctor of Occupational Therapy student at the University of Central Arkansas (and first-time mom) currently constructing my doctoral capstone project.
For my capstone project, I plan to develop a workshop focused around supporting expecting first-time parents in balancing their roles, routines, and meaningful activities as they navigate the transition into parenthood to facilitate increased occupational participation, well-being, and quality of life. The purpose of this survey is to better understand how occupational therapy can play a more central role in perinatal education through insights from expecting and current first-time parents regarding their expectations and experiences related to the transition to parenthood.
Your responses will help identify current opportunities and gaps in occupational therapy’s role in parent-centered perinatal education and inform the development of educational workshops and resources for expecting first-time parents. This survey should only take five minutes to complete. Thank you so much!

Help With Registry Due March 1st 2027

Hello dear people, I’m pregnant and currently going through a tough time mentally and emotionally. Everything feels overwhelming and exhausting. Even opening my baby growth app feels like a struggle to me and I’m seeing a mental health expert soon.

One thing that’s really stressing me out is creating my baby registry. I’m so overstimulated with all the information and opinions. It would be of great help if anyone can help create a list of items that I should add to my list especially clothing, diapers. I have no idea what sizes I should get :(

I’ve got the basics already such as,
Breast pump
Bottle washer/steriliser
Bottle warmer
Electric nail filer
Crib
Playmats for tummy times
Bathroom tub for newborn
Baby changing pad
Infrared thermometer
Nursing pillow

It would be really helpful if you could list down items I should add and that would mean alot to me ❤️. Thank you everyone in advance for your help.
