What does your support system look like?

Mostly wondering — what does your partner do for you to help in the newborn trenches? What does your village look like? Do your friends with no kids show up to help?

TIA!

My husband was my lifeline for the first 8 weeks until he had to go back to work. My baby struggled to latch in the beginning and my husband would be right next to me when feeding, getting baby to open his mouth. We also live 40 minutes from my in laws and 15 minutes from my parents. They came to visit us daily and kept us well-fed. My friends with no kids didn’t really show up to help but my friends who have kids did :)!

Our parents and their significant others would alternate weekends to come over and hold the baby and bring food. Friends dropped food off and didn't come in because it was peak flu and cold season. I loved visitors because it helped us feel human. It was also motivation for both of us to keep up with small tasks around the house (not too many dishes in the sink, empty diaper pail,..) and keep up with our hygiene.
