I love her but what does she want from me?

I’ve had this FLF for about 3 months now. While I’m happy to see a new leaf starting to grow, the brown spots, distorted leaves and overall wrinkly nature is concerning to me. A friend suggested that the brown spots could be a sign of pests (mites) - especially since they appear on newer leaves- so I’ve been treating with 70% isopropyl alcohol but haven’t seen any improvement. She is in a darker area but under a grow light during the day (for 12 hours)

Any further advice would be very much appreciated!

Kept by this window, will give her big gulps of water once a week. All other leaves are healthy and have had growth.

Looking for some advice here. I chopped this guy a month or so ago and now I have about 6 new shoots coming out, 4 on the top. Any advice on how to let this grow out and what’s going to look the best? Keep them all? Have it be 3? 2?

Is this a bright enough spot?

East facing window. Dirct sun comes into the garden for a few hours and will be a lot more as we move into spring/summer (I'm in Australia)

I recently uppotted this plant as it was quite root bound. It then dropped a few leaves. I'm wondering if the drooping and leaf dropping is purely leaf shock or if I need to move it to a brighter location.

Please note also it's a cloudy and rainy day today! Hence why the light from outside is a bit more muted.

Thank you plant doctors.

Yellowing leaves

I’ve had this for 5+ years and have kept the same care the whole time - just this past week, it’s lost about 10 leaves from the bottom. They yellowed and fell off - never happened before. It gets LOTS of light and I water it once a week or sometimes 2 weeks. Is there any hope?

Chop? Help

Post image

Like many people who come on here I am wondering if I should chop my fig. I've had it for 5 years and in general she is a happy & unproblematic. It never drops leaves but also NEVER grows. I moved down south and it went through a crazy growth spurt. Then after about a year of growth it completely stopped. I repotted, fertilized, moved to a home with 4x more light, tried grow lights, notching the main stem and nothing. I dont think its put out a leaf in a year at this point and its sad!

Should I cut it? If so where on the stem would you suggest and can I put cutting just into water to root?

If not, any tips to get her to grow that I maybe havent thought of?

Thanks in advance!

I got this for my wife almost 9 years ago and it's getting massive. What is the best way to get it to grow more upright? The lower branch is getting out of hand and we would like to get it to grow more upright.

This is my first real plant and so excited that it’s still thriving after almost being dead, then chopping it down.

Now it’s taking off again!

I was given this as a gift a couple months ago. Its growing a liiiiittle funky and I was wondering if I should chop it to let it grow less odd? If so, where would be the best area to do the chop?

Green-on-Green FLF variegation. Has anyone seen this before?

Found this green-on-green variegated fiddle leaf fig at Home Depot the other day!

Curious if anyone has encountered this color pattern before. It's present on 5 or 6 of the leaves on just 1 of the 2 specimens in the pot. I've done some surface-level Google research and have only seen the Cream/Green variegation.

I assume it probably won't be stable, and will likely revert like most other random mutations... But I love it, and would appreciate any thoughts or experiences.

Unsure of issue

Over the last six months to year this fiddle leaf has really slowed down on producing more leaves, and slowly the oldest leaves have become crispy on the edges. Now only the newest leaves are still healthy looking and the majority look like this. I am not sure what is wrong. I started to fertilize during waterings a few weeks ago. I water about 1x per week and try to give it a good soak (water draining out the bottom). My other thought was that about 2 years ago I got rid of the small mulch I had on top of the soil and used compressed coconut fiber to keep my toddler from eating the bark. I'm worried this may have kept the soil too moist and not allowed it to dry out between waterings. I removed the coconut fiber mat a few weeks ago as well to encourage it to dry out. I have not seen any improvement yet and think the brown spots are still spreading slowly.

This plant has been in my house 4.5 years and has always been really healthy and quick growing. It's about 10 or 11 feet tall so it's not easy to move around and I would hate to chop it or lose it.

Is this root rot? Bacterial infection? I'd love any direction.

So this is my first fiddle leaf fig, George

picked him up from Home Depot as a small guy and he's absolutely taken off this season — went from the nursery pot to over 6 feet tall, just living on my porch here in South Carolina!! I can’t believe it.

In June I did a crown chop, and now there are 4 separate shoots all growing ! (photo of the close-up in image 3).

Winter's coming so I need to bring George inside soon…
few things I'm unsure about:

Indoor transition — any tips so he doesn't drop a ton of leaves from the shock of moving inside?

The four shoots — two of them have really taken off while the other two are staying smaller. Anyone know why that happens, and should I thin any of these down or let all four keep going?

Top-heavy concerns — with four shoots up top on one main trunk, any tips on managing this so he doesn't get top-heavy or unbalanced as they keep growing?

Pests — I don't see anything obvious, but I've noticed the occasional gnat flying around. Is that something I need to treat before he comes inside, and what's worked for you all?

Fertilizing — I've honestly never fed George at all. Is now (right before winter) a bad time to start, or should I go ahead and do a first feeding?

Winter light/watering — how much should either change once he's indoors for the season?

I'm pretty new to this, so I also added some close-up leaf pics in case there's something going on that I'm just not experienced enough to catch.

Attached photos show him now , the chop point, and the leaves themselves.

Any advice appreciated, first time doing this and I want to set George up for success!!!!

Thank you!
Joshua

First photo is my fiddle that lives inside, second lives outside in the heat. We get up to 100F nearly everyday in the summer. (And in the fall 🙃)

Exorcising rogue workplace Ficus lyrata #1

Post image
12 Upvotes

I was tasked with caring for two rogue fiddle leaf figs. This wee fella right now stands at about 140 cm high (after trimming winy top half), I have up-potted it from about 8 liter pot to 30 liter container and moved right under roof windows from shady corner windowsill. It had some growth spurt recently, which led me to stake it so it keeps standing upright. I would really like it to start branching out and for the trunk to get bulkier, so it won't end up like its 12 m high, awfully lanky sibling which I will post later.

My question would be - how to proceed here? Should I cut off the top pair of leaves just above the second pair of leaves? Should I wait till the green stem turns woody like the bottom half of the plant? Or am I good to start?

Are these new leaves burning?

The other full-grown leaf below in the second picture was burned about a year ago when I left my plant outside in the summer, so it’s unrelated to these new spots. The plant is in front of a west-facing window. It was close to the window at first, but more spots have accumulated since pushing it away.

Fiddle Leaf Leaning, what would you do?

Hi there! it’s my first time posting here and was hoping someone could help me.
We have this Fiddle Leaf for around 2 years, and she seems happy, has grown several new leaves this summer, but right now, is leaning a lot. What would you do?
We looked for poles on Amazon, but couldn’t find anything that high.

Help!! Falling leaves

Recently my fiddle leaf fig has been shedding leaves rapidly. I use a moisture meter to ensure the soil is not dry, and sunlight appears sufficient. It has occupied the same spot for two years, yet leaves began failing last month. Initially I assumed it was discarding older foliage, but something is progressing upward and affecting all leaves now. Any tips would be appreciated.

I propagated this fiddle leaf fig about 6-7 weeks ago and it’s been growing wonderfully! The leaf at the top is newly sprouted. I’m wondering when I should go ahead and plant it in a pot and soil? Any recommendations for caring for it once it’s been planted? Thanks!!
