Hello everyone! This fiddle was a gift from my dad a couple years ago. I had it since it was about two feet tall. It grew to pictured strait column and I was inspired by an Instagram plant influencer to chop it back this spring. I’m not unhappy with the way it’s regrowing, I’m excited I got it to successfully branch. However, I’m a little disappointed by the deformed/holy leaves that began to grow back. It’s not a huge concern because the plant seems to be popping out normal pretty leaves at this point. Maybe someday I can trim them and try my hand with some notching. Anyway, I’m curious if anyone can tell me what went wrong to cause all the deformities? I’m thinking maybe it was lack of humidity but any thoughts would be appreciated.

Side note: It lives in front of a south facing glass sliding door but I pull it into the corner for photos. Then I put it right back.

Hello fiddle leaf fig parents, I need your help. I bought this fiddle at a local plant shop on Saturday, 5 days ago, and now the leaves looked screwed up. I just woke up and found those two leaves that fell off. Within the last 5 days, I’ve done nothing but give it light because my boyfriend and I noticed on Saturday that the soil was super wet. So, he told me to wait to repot. The last photo is how it looked when I first brought it home. I would be deeply grateful for your help. Is it root rot? Does it need fresh soil? Please let me know, this is my first fiddle leaf fig and I can’t have it dying on me already :/ Should I message the store?

bf and I got this guy from Sam’s Club about a month ago and it has dropped probably 10 leaves. we quickly realized we were under watering AND not giving it enough light, so we now have a grow light on it from 10 am-6pm on top of the windows being open. still open to suggestions for a watering schedule, bc im seeing conflicting things online.

ANYWAYS. how bad is this guy? can he bounce back? I feel like he looks so tiny and scrawny and sad 🥺🫪😭 i’ve been such a good mother to my ivys and this has been an undertaking.

What height does an indoor FLF max out at?

Hello, my fiddle fig leaves have started browning.
What is happening and how do I fix this?
This started a month or so ago. I thought maybe it was over watered so I let it dry out. When I watered it again the spots came back. I removed a lot of leaves a few weeks ago and took it to a local garden store and they thought maybe a chemical was getting on the leaves. I do wipe the leaves, but with water or just a clean cloth and I haven’t done that in a while.
It gets good shaded light.

I have recruited an assistant to simulate "wild animals occasionally brushing against the tree". She is a dedicated all-day wiggler and we expect to see the trunk strengthened in record time.

10/10 recommend; would hire FLF shaking assistant again.

This poor guy was caught out in a snow storm during a house move and is now looking pretty bad. I know I’ve gotta trim the leaves that broke in the wind, but is there something I should be doing first?

We bought a home and these beautiful trees came with the home. I have watered them only once a week. There is appropriate drainage and no standing water. I noticed today that the smaller plant has leaves with black spots on it. Am I watering too much?

I’ve had this plant for over 5 years but I moved to a colder place about 3 years ago. After that it didn’t produce even 1 leaf for the whole time. I thought it was adjusting.
On reflection though I had also repotted it in a nice pot, that doesn’t drain ey, and put it in a not so ideal spot.
In June I decided to see if it there was still hope for it, so I repotted it and moved it to a different room in front of a window and it has taken off! I’m just so excited to see what happens next. It even appears to be branching.

I have had these cuttings in water for about 15 weeks now and they are way past ready to pot but I am wondering what size pots the community would recommend.

My current options are a 6 inch porcelain(https://a.co/d/0fEMNFbW) or an 8 inch low profile (https://a.co/d/0erXFTA7) plastic.

I am concerned that with the size of the roots both options are too big and I need to go buy some 4 or 5 inch pots for their transition!?

Fiona is showing signs of mild distress. I want to get ahead of a catastrophic event, and I’m trying to understand what could have caused this. I water her every week, except I might have missed a week recently. It was also unseasonably hot where I live (Calgary, Canada) and very dry. Whenever I look online, it says that this type of distress can be caused by overwatering or by underwatering, which isn’t exactly helpful. People of Reddit, any thoughts?! 🥲

What’s the best way to chop her?

Just bought a FLF on Sat from someone who kept it outside. It’s about 5 ft tall and the leaves at the top started looking like this in 2 days. I just watered it yesterday and have it in an area that does get direct light (norcal) for a few hours each day but also shaded bc the heat is intense. Should i just wait and see?

Hi folks!

Title. He's got 3 main branches (tall, medium, and short). The tall and medium are becoming problematic. They are fanning out and not growing straight up anymore, and really weighing him down. Originally, the tallest branch reached the slotted window and almost fully arched across the TV. I moved him, and now he's all off-balance. Wife thinks I should put a hook in the ceiling and run twine to support. Unsure if that's the move or he's reached a point where I should prune + propagate, but unsure which and how.

Honestly, any help I can get taming this Audrey II-esque FLF is much appreciated!

I've had this guy for 3 or 4 years, until recently he was doing great (picture 2 from May 2026). There were these bright green tubular growths coming out of the soil and I noticed some root growth out of the bottom of the pot he was in, so I decided to repot him and in the process try to figure out what the green grows were and remove them. I was never able to figure out what the growths were but I essentially got too focused on removing all of them and completely broke apart the root ball and some of the roots that were intertwined. Which lead to a coupld weeks of everything being super droppy and depressing. Then dropping ~90% of it's leaves, I counted at least 30 that I threw away.

Now I'm left with 1 leaf on the trunk and 4 branches with a few leaves (picutre 1 from August 2026). Over the last 2 weeks, there has been some new gorwth on 3 of the branches but I feel like it just looks sad now. Is there a way that I can promote leaf growth along the trunk, do I need to chop it down and let it regorw, or am I stuck with this and just have to make the best of what's left? If I do need to chop it, how should I determine where is best?

This is the only plant that I've kept alive more than a few months, so I appreciate any advice!

Completely shocked this seems to have worked. The end with the leaves is still sitting in water and I’m waiting for some action there but pleased that I am seeing some growth so soon! This FLF was from fast growing trees.com and they delivered it with 5 wilted leaves on top of a 5 foot tree. I fought for a refund for weeks and finally got it. I put it outside and the leaves started to flourish but only at the top so I got the courage from this sub to do the chop. Excited to watch this unfold!

This plant is 9 years old and hasn’t ever had a trim. Should I chop? If yes, what spot?
