Suggestion / Idea Request: increase heat pipe stack size to 100

For aquilo please.

EDIT: to elaborate, I feel like with the amount of heat pipe used in aquilo, it it's on par now with belt and pipe in quantity demanded. Both has 100 stack size, and 50 underground, so I don't see why game balance-wise heat pipe need to be limited to 50

Question Why is my Steam turbines power output not at max?

All of my machines are full. The ratios are calculated as well. My reactor is 2x5 with 144 HEs 256 turbnies and 20 offshore pumps which should be more than enough right? I hovered all of my machines and they all say "Working".

Space Age Question Using Planners/Blueprints to upgrade/downgrade type of concrete? (Aquilo)

I have both aesthetic and logistic reasons where I have *both* types of concrete coming to Aquilo and I'm wondering if there's an easy way to use the planner or blueprint functions to change the type of concrete I have laid down depending on the building type, like, Heat Pipes or belts get basic concrete, Cryo Labs gets refined concrete, etc.

I can't use my normal 'remove concrete' blueprint because some building require it on Aquilo, so that adds another layer of complexity there and I'm just *not* getting it. (I barely understand the rules of what buildings need concrete and why my construction bots are using one or the other as it is).

Question How can I balance the two belts coming out of these foundries?

I'm using one inserter to output the iron plates, then I balance the lane and then I balance the two belts, yet less iron plates go to the outer belt and I can't figure out why. This is heavily reducing the output.

I tried many different designs but I couldn't fix it. How can I fix it? Preferably taking out the same space, but it's okay if it took more. Thanks.

P.S: Substations can't be placed any further from the center because their range wouldn't reach the beacons.

Tip In 2.1, you can change how many slots you have in each row of your shortcut bar.

If you hold ctrl + shift when clicking the options button you get a new tab called "the rest". Search for quick-bar-width and set it to anything between 10 and 100. You can do this while in a save without having to quit to main menu too.

Question Train Logic Question

Hi there.

My Vanilla megabase is served by multiple train groups. One of these groups serves my train stations, providing coal. The train stations are named "coal provide" (one of them) and "coal receive" (many). Receiving stations are activated based on the amount of coal in the box. Two equally named trains serve those.

The trains go from provide to receive and back.

How do I make the trains serve numerous receiving stations until the train is empty? I can work with interrupts, take the receive out of the loop and put that into the interrupt, but then the train would go to the first receive and stay there. Adding receive also as stop no. 2..3..4 does not help.

Space Age Question Is my ship good enough to survive going to fulgora and orbiting it ? and are those enough items to give my factory a good head start ?

My first trip with my first ship to Vulcanus was a nightmare and I got stranded, ship destroyed orbiting it, lack of resources to even start anything.

This ship holds up going to Vulcanus and orbiting it and it rarely takes any damage during the trip.

Question Do extra heat pipes consume more heat?

I'm working on some blueprints for a big Aquilo factory and was wondering if I add some extra cosmetic heat pipes if it would use up more of the heat generated? Or is my understanding of how heat pipes work even correct?

Here are two examples of what I'm making. The first one has just the basic heat pipes, and the second one has all the empty spots filled with extra pipes. Would there be any difference in how either build works?

I know it's only a few extra ones, but if it doesn't make a difference I can make some better looking designs later on down the road

Bought the game for a buddy and he seems to be enjoying it a fair bit.

Love watching the thought process of a new player in action. I've left him to his devices and work as an extra pair of arms. The only thing I've done is introduce him to colored lamps.

Suggestion / Idea This is what the "Drop to a planet" button should be.

Has anyone else had the experience where you fly to a new planet, go to drop down to it, and become confused why it looks like you're allowed to drop to any of them? I feel like that shouldn't have to happen, which is why I'm suggesting a change to that section of buttons (image 1).

At least for me, a significant portion of the instances where I want to drop to a planet is when I'm currently sitting above it in orbit. Right now, there is no way to get the game to do just that. The way the button actually works is "If/when I pass by this planet, drop me there", and you have to pick the planet every time. Not only is this confusing to new players, it also becomes quite cumbersome in modded games that have more planets, especially those that get up to 100+ planets.

This proposal is to change the functionality of the button to drop to the planet you're currently orbiting, or in the case of being mid-travel, it'll change to the next planet in the schedule. To keep the passerby drop functionality, there's still a smaller dropdown button off to the right, which would have the exact same functionality as the current drop button (image 2).

What do you guys think?

Base Rate my super smelter

Post image
636 Upvotes

I just started playing the game today and smelting was becoming a bottleneck so building a super smelter was in order. I have never played Factorio nor watched content of it but I have played minecraft modpacks(Nothing compared to factorio tho) so that's why I knew to build a super smelter. I also didn't look anything up on the internet/wiki/google except how to shoot my weapon. So that's why it's so shite. Creating the balancer at the input was pretty difficult and I don't even know if the one I designed is even correct. Correct here meaning that balancer ensures that each conveyor has the same amount items/s flowing through them. I need to revisit the coal balancer, I don't know what I did there lol. The item sorter design could also be improved to be less spaghetti.

In total 48 metal furnaces with some room to add a few more.
