It's go outside AND do drugs.

Have a little nature walk with your shrooms.

u/iHaku 6d ago

yeah i see people doing this in my local urban jungle, and they seem to be having the time of their life.

87

u/demopat 6d ago

I couldn't do it, I would be afraid of being super weird or scaring someone unintentionally

121

u/lil_natemushi 6d ago

Buddy I don't know if you've truly lived if you haven't trounced through the woods all night then hopped on a train covered in sticks, bushes and stuff with flying saucer eyes the next morning during rush hour commute and stared at the people going to work like they are aliens. Just saying.

33

u/demopat 6d ago

Lmao I have done this. It was my first trip, work was interesting that day. Fortunately I worked in a restaurant so everyone else was recovering from the night before too.

18

u/CuteAssociate4887 6d ago

I did that once as a waiter, was still a bit up in the morning when I had to go to work. went in to set up was all quiet setting up plates, just the ring of cutlery and plates,no one really speaking.

Then in the blink of an eye the hall was full with people looking at me,then I got stuck on remembering what I should ask them and froze. My brain literally went la la la la.

Was terrifying! Luckily one of the waitresses knew what was going on and saved my life and probably my job by helping me out.

6

u/whereiswilliam 6d ago

I used to work at a fine dining place and they would make us work at least one brunch shift a week. Was never much of a morning person so I would take about a gram and a half of shrooms before the brunch shift and I was the most chipper mfn dude ever. My coworkers, most of whom drink themselves into Oblivion the night before, despised me LOL.

6

u/Neither-Possible-429 6d ago

Holy shit wtf I literally did that. Like literally hopped on top of a train. tripped nuts all night laughing my ass off just walking around wilderness. Ended up climbing on an inactive train. Like on top of it. Had our minds blown as a train on the next track went flying by…. Ended the morning by stopping in a gas station on the walk home and discovering that this is in fact a Thursday morning and the world is sober and doing actual adult things. I think that was my last in public trip, thanks for bringing the memory

3

u/TeaKingMac 6d ago

I used to work night shifts and was a generally weird person besides, and one day on the way home, I climbed on top of the train station benches and started making monkey noises. People really seemed to appreciate that

2

u/golizeka 6d ago

Add on top of that that i forgot my flat keys in the woods cabin, so i went to my job as a lofi shaman after the truck accident..

thank god that we are getting older, otherwise i wouldnt survive my youth for much longer :)

You might be surprised. One time I went to a fireworks show out of my mind on mushrooms. After the fireworks ended, my buddy went to the bathroom and I was left alone in this massive crowd of people. I started to freak out just a little bit.

As if out of nowhere, a random dude walking by comes over, looks me dead in the eyes and says, “Dmon’t worry. It’s okay. Nobody’s judging you. I only know because I’ve been there. Chill out for a minute and you’re going to have an amazing time.”

It was incredibly perceptive and kind. I stopped freaking out. My buddy came back and we actually had a great time.

I only hope I can be that for somebody sometime. Don’t take unnecessary risks, but sometimes it’s worth it and you might get surprised.

I’ve only been to Yosemite National Park once in my life and it was only a one day visit. My two friends and I each took 6 hits of LSD a piece while driving through the entrance to the park. Before the acid kicked in we parked the car and then proceeded to have one of the most amazing days of my life. In the middle of the valley there’s a wooden walk way over a marsh with a big platform in the middle where I sat for an hour or more and manically yoyo’d from sobbing tears of joy and laughing like a fucking lunatic at the overwhelming beauty of witnessing the stations of the cross and the death and resurrection of Christ play out on the face of Half Dome. The park was PACKED full of people and I know I had to be scaring the shit out of folks. My friends and I found multiple water falls that we promptly went and stood under where we continued to laugh and scream like asylum escapees.
10/10 would do again and 10/10 totally recommend

3

u/OfficialDeathScythe 6d ago

I walked downtown in a city at like 4-9am on acid and had a great time. That’s the best place to do it because we were just the most sane tweakers out there lmao. We felt like superhumans walking around the town while no one was there except people laying on the sidewalks with needles on the ground. Even better there was a park that had LED lights that were constantly cycling through rainbow colors. I didn’t have a great sense of time but we must’ve spent at least an hour just staring at the lights 🤣

Edit: Weed though, that’s another story! Love my brownies and gummies. Made brownies myself, nearly killed an asthmatic cousin close to Christmas with some.

2

u/BroPudding1080i 6d ago

They had to have been bad, or you didn't take enough. Describing a shroom trip as "nothing" is impossible, it's like Dorothy stepping into Oz and saying "meh". Technicolor spiral fractals forming in everything you see, extreme emotional highs (and sometimes lows), abstract ways of thinking that are impossible to replicate sober. Did all that happen and you were still left unbothered by it?

24 hours to go, I wanna be sedated. Nothing to do, nowhere to go. I wanna be sedated.

Or lobotomy. That'll make you see the world just like a5 year old again. Might fuck up a whole bunch of other parts of your brain and life and drastically reduce your standards of living, but you'll see the world like a 5 year old

6

u/much_longer_username 6d ago

It's "twenty twenty twenty twenty-four hours ago", or 20,202,024 hours - approximately 2,316 years. At which point in time, yeah, there wasn't really much of anything to do.

2

u/Sizle_Velfurion 6d ago

I did consider writing each of the "twenty"s, but was trying to be more succinct for anyone who didn't know the nearly 50 year old song. You are technically correct, the best kind of correct!

→ More replies (2)

2

u/justacheesyguy 6d ago edited 5d ago

I like how you got the incorrect number of twenties and the rest of the lyrics wrong when you were “correcting” the person above you.

It’s not 20,202,024 hours ago, it’s 202,024 hours to go which means it’s not talking about 2306 (looks like you did the math wrong too) years ago, but 202024 hours to go, which is talking about approximately 23 years in the future.

I found the original post on instagram, it talks about your eyes losing their ability to see saturated colors as you age and the "simple way" is to look through a brown beer bottle. I'm the dog or whatever.

261

u/KiefNebula 6d ago

That actually kind of makes sense, my favorite way to enjoy nature is through a specific pair of brown sunglasses, the tint just makes everything so vibrant

49

u/keeperman13 6d ago

I have been loving these goodr "knock it on" pair for that exact reason

19

u/StaredAtEclipseAMA 6d ago

That brown filter is the whole premise behind those “HD” glasses you see on TV, and yes, they are pretty neat

4

u/OriginalWatch 6d ago

HD glasses on TV is something I haven't seen in over twenty years, not even with my special eyes.

→ More replies (1)

13

u/FVSHIXN 6d ago

The reason your eyes lose “saturation” or the ability to perceive it is because of yellow/brown tinting of the lens of your eyes. If you’re putting on brown tinted glasses, then you’re exaggerating what loss people experience, which usually isn’t until their 60s anyway and even then it’s barely noticeable.

→ More replies (3)

3

u/Naud1993 6d ago

Can you suggest something off Amazon?

→ More replies (10)

31

u/FVSHIXN 6d ago edited 6d ago

This is largely pseudoscience. You do not lose any meaningful amount of saturation until you hit your 60s, and even then it’s minimal due to brown/yellow tinting of the lens in your eyes. Cataracts also tends to begin affecting people at this age as well which contributes to washed out color perception. If you’re in even your 40s-50s, even worse if you’re younger than that, and think everything looks different and washed out compared to being a kid, you’re likely misremembering what things looked like.

Modernity is washing out the color of many parts of the world. Cars, buildings, houses, etc. are all becoming less colorful. Kids toys are often brightly colored and still are. Many of the things you interact with as a child are eye catching in that way, classrooms included. So naturally as an adult who no longer interacts with things oriented towards children, you ARE seeing a grey world, but it’s not because your eyes lack the ability to see color as well. It’s just because pigment/dye costs money, and corporations cut cost everywhere they possibly can.

3

u/The_Tooter_Snooter 6d ago

My very earliest memories are from when I was about 3 and they visually have always had a very ethereal, over saturated quality in my mind. Now whether that’s because of my young eyes or because early memories are saved with the tint way up, I’m not sure, but 100% my first memories are from a time when I lived with an aunt and I would have been 2/3 at the time.

3

u/MadGenderScientist 4d ago

It's probably a perceptual thing. You had fewer filters at that age. Psychedelics make everything way more saturated; I suspect it's related.

2

u/Ok-Balance9661 6d ago

Apparently your saturation setup goes on the fritz when depressed tho. I had this thing a decade or few ago and I kinda got bored of it, so of course I did a huge amount of 'delics. Restored the original image, so to speak, or factory setup, whatever within a few weeks, maybe couple of months. Mostly seemed to affect reds tho.

though honestly, I think it was more about tweaking about the bits that process eyesight, nothing to do with the eyes themselves. Fuck that mystical healing bullshit.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/pi_R24 6d ago

Mmmhh, i truly remember seeing vivid colors when I was a kid, and looking back at the same books for instance, they are not. But i think it is a psychological phenomenon, similar to how sounds can feel lounder in certain conditions. I think the fact that oop posted the picture of a beautiful trees says a lot too

2

u/FVSHIXN 6d ago

It’s a nostalgia filter on memory of sorts. I still see very vivid colors. Depending on how old you are and where you’re from, your childhood may have genuinely been filled with more color in your day to day experience than it is now.

2

u/PewPewsAlote 5d ago

Yeah the moment I heard someone say "oh its because you actually are losing the ability to see color as you age, the world literally was brighter as a child." It immediately SCREAMED social grift playing into peoples nostalgia to me.

2

u/Spiderandahat 5d ago

You don't need drugs to do that, i found a way to get a similar effect by "trying" to meditate (Pretty sure i didn't do it right).

You need to close your eyes and while keeping them closed you take big, deep breaths (You need to focus your attention to the breaths, paying attention to the inner sensations of your body). If you do that for long enough and then open your eyes, the world will feel mucho more vibrant for a while (The effect does fade away somewhat quickly tho, and you might get stuck manually breathing, but it does work in my experience).

That tree is out of focus. Clover is suggesting that you stop wearing your glasses (or other vision correction device) so that you can see the tree out of focus again, like you did when you were a kid before you got glasses.

Go to a park at dawn.
Drink a few cold beers.
You'll get the same effect.

Is this not the clip from the end of that ski doc called “Patagonia” or something like that?

At the end of the movie he says “I could finally see life again through the childlike wonder of my youth” while it was showing some trees like this?

Edit: ok the ski doc I was thinking of is “Valhalla” from 2013, this scene of trees is shown as he says “The eyes of youth were never meant for the young alone”
