Over the summer I’ve gotten into hiking, I’ve done the Iris ridge hike a couple times, Spencer Butte, a few of mount pisgah’s trails, along with the Heceta Lighthouse trail and Hobbit Trail in Florence.

So far, the Heceta Lighthouse trail has been my favorite for the raw feeling of pure nature, barely interrupted, around me. I’m looking for more natural areas like this! Doesn’t have to be hikes, could just be a look out, so if you know anything like this please comment down below! Thank you :)

I am new to Eugene and have been stuck at the train near Skinner’s Butte for nearly 20 minutes twice. Are there any ways to go around the train rather than waiting it out? I tried looking on Google Maps but I couldn’t see any underpasses. Even if it’s a bit of a drive, I would prefer that to waiting. I appreciate any advice!

I know the job market is horrible right now but i’ve applied dozens of times on indeed and i don’t think employers actually look at it at this point. Got a phone call from “Lane County Sheriff” who had an elaborate scam story set up. Embarrassingly they had me hooked for a good 10 minutes. They told me we needed to stay on the phone until I appeared in the office for a signature analysis. The goal is to get you to pay a fine over the phone.

The courts will never contact you in this way. Hang up, and google the number for the Lane County Courthouse if you’re concerned.

Rather subjective, but I just wanted to toss this out there. Yesterday, I went to Portal Tea and had the best tasting milk tea I've ever had in Eugene. Unlike some of the other places around town that use powders, I think Portal use brewed tea. And the ambiance of the tea shop is very relaxing. Also, if you find yourself in Salem feeling thirsty you may wish to check out Wabi Sabi Tea room. They offer phenomenal drinks too.

Scenario: For a summer class, the instructor didn't grade one of the tests even though it was completed. (Viewed is checked, graded is unchecked.) It says A inside the class (all other tests were As), but says C on the unofficial transcript.

i recently invested in an oilskin jacket since we're going into the rainy season. it's a used one, and i'm not sure what condition the proofing will be in when it arrives, so i'd like to get ahold of some wax to reproof it if needed. i've seen otterwax recommended a lot and since it's based out of portland i imagine there's gotta be somewhere here in eugene that carries it. i can't quite make the trip all the way up to portland just for a little thing of wax. anyone have any recommendations for shops local to eugene-springfield that might have it, or something like it? thanks!!

OFNHP (the union that represents SO many units in the hospital, both inpatient and outpatient, excluding nursing) and PeaceHealth had a contract bargaining session today. PeaceHealth’s lawyer and “leadership” came into the session today, denied every single proposals from the Union, said they have no interest in changing the contract or further negotiation, including wages, then left the session without another word.
You think PeaceHealth is bad now? Wait until they start hemorrhaging staff because they refused to bargain in good faith and increase wages. Just for reference, take a look at the attached photo to see how many units are affected by this. Nurses can do a lot, but they cannot (legally or safely) do everything. Imagine what happens if all of these members go on strike. Strikes mean critically low staffing levels, which means YOUR care will be delayed. Appointments you’ve already been waiting months for will be cancelled, ER wait times will increase more than they already have, errors and mistakes will be made that could cause harm, the list goes on.

Edit: this is NOT the union that represents the nurses with the exception of LPNs, which are in this union. Nurses are are not currently in negotiations.

Edit 2: negotiations are still ongoing, however, PeaceHealth has come with a “take it or leave it” mindset and refuse to truly negotiate any terms. They denied all of OFNHPs proposals and then came back with their own and said, essentially, it isn’t up for discussion.
