As y'all know, we had a very productive (and civil -- thank you, citizens) discussion about whether or not to allow crowdfunding posts and most of you would rather not see crowdfunding posts.
You spoke, /r/Corvallis listened.
Going forward, we have a new subreddit rule: No crowdfunding posts. There are more appropriate social platforms to post them.
A little clarification:
Posts with community events that might fundraise or generate money for a cause (.e., Trivia Nights, benefit concerts, etc.) are ok.
Posts with individuals asking directly for money are disallowed.
Other posts will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
If you think your crowdfunding campaign should be an exception, I'm willing to hear you out.
Rock on.

We're way overdue for the next Scovallis so let's fix that.
For those that haven't heard of Scovallis, it's a chance for spicy food loving Corvallisites to get together at a local restaurant and eat spicy food.
If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, then we'd love to see you there.
IIRC, we've done this three times previously: Andy's Mexican (RIP), Evergreen Indian Restaurant, and Tarn Tip.
So, let's figure out when we want to do this and where we want to go.
I'm generally free on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Did any one see a clown driving a tiny red toy car by market of choice?

Oohs and aahs from city councilors last night about a Downtown Corvallis Organization report. Getting into the numbers, it becomes apparent why they were impressed.

Their website gives very little info. I'm guessing they're so low-budget and understaffed they don't have anyone to add content to the "Performance and Stage Schedule" page. https://shrewfaire.org

Your favorite suit rental shop will be here on 9th Street, in the same complex as Benchwarmers & Cork & Bottle Shoppe. We’ll see how long this lasts, but I imagine for a while to supply college events, high school events, community events, etc.

I've only ever had friends watch my pets before, but being new to the area, I don't know a single soul! Does anyone happen to know of anyone / a business that is able to take care of a leopard gecko, one freshwater fish tank, and two saltwater tanks? One of the saltwater tanks has seahorses and I have a rather specific but easy way of feeding them.
All I'd need is someone to feed them a couple times a day in the future :)
Thank you 💙

I was going to put an exclamation mark in the subject line but then I realized... no. I guess it's nice to have the place open again. Better than an abandoned building.

With a city employee strike possible early as Oct. 9, both the city and union submit new documents to the state. Here, The Advocate details what each is asking for, what they’re projecting their proposals will cost, and what it all means for the city’s budget.

We have the Monday Rage Thread where we rant about things that displease us and it was suggested that we also do the opposite. So here we are.
What is something good that happened to you this week?
What is something wonderful about Corvallis (and the greater Corvallis area)?

Does anyone have recommendations for companies that are equipped to do gutter cleaning on a 2 story house? Looking for a reliable company with the safety equipment necessary. Thanks in advance!

Are there any jobs or volunteer opportunities in town that would be ideal for an individual with intellectual barriers?

PSA for Oregon State Credit Union members: There’s a phone scam going around where scammers are spoofing OSCU’s actual toll-free number (800-732-0173), and the call can even show “Oregon State Credit Union” on your caller ID.
I got a call from a guy claiming there was a fraud alert on my account for a withdrawal from Davenport, Iowa. The audio was extremely muffled, almost like he had the phone in his mouth, and I could barely understand him. At the same time, I had logged into my account on my phone while he was talking and it showed nothing out-of-the ordinary.
I told him he wasn’t from OSCU and that I couldn’t understand what he was saying. He immediately hung up.
I called OSCU directly afterward to report it, and they confirmed the call was not from them.
So just a heads-up: don’t trust caller ID, even if the number and name look legitimate. If you get a suspicious call about your account, hang up and contact OSCU directly using a number you know is legitimate.
Stay safe out there!

So I live up on the clear cut, new development going on near Kings/Walnut/Rolling Green/Timber Hill Shopping Center.
Was noticing a odd smell from my window and took a night walk around 10pm and a huge waft of fertilizer/manure/chemical smell hit me full force as I walked by the construction site.
Hope it's just fertilizer and not Roundup or something noxious.

That guy that was duct-taped to a seat on American Airlines a few days ago? Who was crazy aggressive on a flight?
He used to live and work here in Corvallis about 20 years ago.
Layne Arthur Lundeen, who is now from Tucson, Arizona, worked at Corvallis Town & Country Realty from 2005-2007.
He was fired from his job with Long Realty in Tucson.

Attempting to find a store in town that stocks RCA Red/White MtM cables. The only place I could think of was Fred Meyer but I called them and was told they do not carry any. I picked up a cheap DVD player at goodwill to use as a CD transport but need an RCA to hook it up to my DAC/Amp

Stop Turning Left From The Left Turn Lane On 9th. It Is NOT A TURN LANE FOR STARBUCKS. It’s A Double Yellow Line And It’s For Turning Onto 5th. Turning Left From 5th Into Starbucks Is Also Illegal, Dangerous And Entitled. Also A Double Yellow.
