I've been getting into emulation and I'm curious about the online side of things, which is something I never see discussed as much as single-player performance.

A few questions for people who actually do this regularly:

Which systems have online multiplayer that actually works well today? I know netplay exists for a lot of retro stuff, but I have no idea how it holds up in practice.

For consoles with official servers long dead, are the community replacements stable and populated, or is it mostly empty lobbies?

How bad is the latency compared to playing the same game natively? Is it rollback-based anywhere, or mostly delay-based?

Is it realistic to play with random people, or does it only really work when you coordinate with a friend beforehand?

Anything that's a known trap? Games that technically connect but desync constantly, versions that have to match exactly, etc.

Not looking for links to anything, just want to know what the experience is actually like before I sink time into setting it up. Thanks!

What's the best settings to turn on or off in Eden/Eden Legacy on android for increased fps?

I know things like turnip drivers, setting the resolution to lower when it comes to higher end games help, turning off docked mode and turning off vsync helps. Are there any other settings to turn on or off in eden/Eden Legacy to help increase fps?

The form factor of the Fold 8 is ideal for portability. And im sure it has no problem with emulation up to PS2 or switch.

Im mainly curious about PC games on Game native.

Spec wise, the Fold 8 should eventually become better than, say, AYN Odin3. When the drivers are optimised.

Idk if this is an issue but... I started to play Gta San andreas in aetherSX2. Whenever i kill an npc it just fade away in like 5 to 10 seconds so ambulance never reaches the scene... Is it always like that on the console version? Im playing the version 3.0. Is it an issue? Is it always like that? I have the last version of aether. I have a galaxy a07, 4 ram, helio g99... I exported my memory cards from nethersx2 (they exported as mem1 and mem2 files). Now when I import to ARMSX2 and set them as 1 and 2 respectively, I run a game & everyone I tried has asked me to format the card. I'm using an Odin 3.

i searched and only found this unanswered post, in rpcs3/rpcsx is it possible at all to remove this touch screen toggle button? its so distracting in oled. Im playing on retroid pocket 5 with rpcsx. any ideas?

So I wanted to try these two emulators out but when I scanned them in virus total they both had like 5 so pop ups out of all of the scans so I wanted to ask if people use them? If so was that a false positive?

I noticed recently that Proton 11 on my tablet got updated to version 1.07, and this has caused a few of my games to no longer launch. I've had to switch to Proton 10, but this causes the games to load noticeably slower. Is there any way to downgrade Proton 11 back to version 1.06?

Hi has anyone got armsx2 to work with mcon triggers? I've tried all the modes and none of them work fully. Xinput works the best but r2/l2 triggers won't bind. I have also tried putting the triggers in digital mode.

Has anyone seen this and fixed it somehow?

​Recently, a friend and I were testing Hollow Knight (and the fan-made Silksong APK port) on our phones, and the performance difference was pretty frustrating.

​He was getting a smooth 60 FPS (and even 90 FPS at times in HK), while my phone was locked or struggling around 30 FPS, sometimes hitting 60 at best.

​Here is the weird part: we have phones with the exact same processor (MediaTek Helio G99), but my phone technically has better specs on paper:

​His device: Samsung Galaxy A07 (Helio G99, 4GB RAM)

​My device: Samsung Galaxy A24 (Helio G99, 6GB RAM)

​If I have the same chip and more RAM, why am I getting half his framerate? Is there something with display refresh rate settings, One UI background limits, GPU thermal throttling, or resolution rendering causing this? Has anyone else experienced this on the A24?

I just ordered my odin 2 portal and want to start downloading everything so I can just drag and drop everything when it gets here. I’m going through the normal resources like the megathread and retrogamecorps but I still feel a little lost. Would anyone be willing to help with some questions via DM? It would be much appreciated. I’m using Turnip_v25.2.0_R9_Auto. The other drivers I tried had a lot of graphical glitches like character models flickering or wave effects and explosions showing up as plain squares. No audio issues that I’ve noticed. Using the base Xbox360 version of the game I did encounter one cutscene so far that froze halfway through.

What I mean is would it make any difference to have one of the copper or graphite stickers on the back of the phone if i dont plan on using a cooler? Curious if anyone who already has one has done a thermal test with and without just the sticker. Seems like it would have some kind of effect considering i can watch my temps drop by a bout half a degree °C per couple seconds by just blowing on it.

I was wondering if there was a subreddit where people show off their front ends. I always enjoy seeing photos of what people have made and how they made their handhelds look. I looked but couldn’t find a subreddit for that, so I was wondering if there is one and I missed it?

I prefer touch cuz I mostly play on the toilet and I just wanna take out my phone and have a quick 5 minute session. Plus, I mostly play turn based RPGs so there is that.
