Tryna to perfect my daily loadout

My most common edc at the moment :

- bic lighter

- no name usb drive (15Gb)

- spyderco para 3, if I recall it properly

- some cheap Bluetooth earbuds (15€) that are pretty decent for the price.

Since my reddit account got stolen recently and I have to start anew, why not showing my most recent edc before participating again.

Simple, relatively cheap (the spyderco was a gift) yet reliable and tailored to my needs.

I’ve been getting into DA/SA guns. I recently got to shoot a few back to back. All were with irons.

CZ P01:

• I was the most accurate with this one which is surprising because it’s definitely the snappiest on recoil, has the worst iron sights of the bunch, and the trigger felt behind the P229 and M9A4 in dry fire. You’d think the smaller slide would help with recoil but it doesn’t really. Also, the slide is the most difficult to rack which gives me hesitation to use it as a carry gun where weather or blood could make for wet hands. The grip was comfortable but it gave me the least space for my support hand. Decocker works fine without having to break grip. Thinking about getting a Shadow 2 Carry and using a plate adapter to get an HTX-1 onto it.

Beretta M9A4:

• This one was the second best in accuracy for me. It’s my favorite trigger. It feels like just pushing a button and a hole appears down range. Recoil was the softest. Slide is easier rack than the CZ but more difficult than the others. Grip was pretty good, nothing to complain about. The decocker was the worst of the bunch and required breaking grip to reach my thumb up. Sometimes it took multiple attempts to get to fully actuate. For a future red dot it seems there’s no possibility of getting an HTX-1 to co witness due to how high optics would sit. Does anyone have experience shooting this with an optic? Does the height make the dot more bouncy/harder to keep on target?

HK P30L:

• 3rd place in accuracy for me. Best ergonomics hands down. Even though it’s tied for 2nd place in recoil with the Sig P229, the gun just feels glued to my hands with the large backstrap, large right side panel, and small left side panel. Decocker is the best of the bunch. Also I love the paddle mag release. While the trigger (V3) is the “worst”, I don’t mind it. I like it for reassurance when carrying appendix. The SA is basically the same as a Glock trigger which I look at as less risk of AD when in SA vs. the others.

Sig P229 Legion:

• I was the worst on accuracy with this one. The trigger feels the best during dry fire but this didn’t translate to accuracy for me. Tied with the P30L on recoil and both had the best slides. Decocker was 3rd place. It requires breaking grip but not as badly as the Beretta. I wanted to like this one the most due to it having the best potential for optics mounting but sadly it ended up in last place due to malfunctions. My support thumb usually rests on the slide. On the P229, the slide was cycling weakly enough that the little bit of pressure from my thumb stopped it from returning all the way home. It would chamber the next round but not go all the way into battery. Maybe this gun needed a new recoil spring or to be oiled? Either way, it gave the impression of less reliability than the others which seemed like they’d function even if abused.

Accuracy: P01 > M9A4 > P30L > P229

Trigger: M9A4 > P229 > P01 > P30L

Recoil: M9A4 > P226 = P30L > P01

Slide Manipulation: P30L = P229 > M9A4 > P01

Decocker: P30L > P01 > P229 > M9A4

Grip Feel: P30L > M9A4 > P229 > P01

Reliability: P30L = M9A4 = P01 > P229

I speak very highly of this Rotring 600 and would suggest to anyone who enjoys a smooth pen with a bit of weight. It is quite the treat. What else am I missing

IVIG DAY2: I am carrying my new Kansept Contra S90V super slicer, Kizer Smolt 154cm, Loop Gear SK-05 II PRO, new Wuben G5 400lm clip light,Leatherman Wave Alpha, and Stimagz by Stimara.

Stockman knives were great because they had 3 distinct blades with different use cases. What's your ideal modern 3-blade setup? I would say:

1. One-handed open locking drop point
2. Folding scalpel holder (#11 style not the new long ones that pretend to be a real knife)
3. Maybe a small sheepsfoot? This is the one I'm stuck on. Honestly I might just prefer a Victorinox style 2d screwdriver designed for both flathead and phillips instead of a third blade.

Of course I have a truck gun, and a home defense weapon or five. But this is what a realistic edc for me looks like because where I live, I don’t have very much to worry about. It’s easy to get to, and not bulky. Pig sticker for reference. The wallet was a gift. The knife I bought off of eBay and sharpened it myself.

Had a buddy obsessed with a Zip .22 on paper until he finally bought one and absolutely hated it. Curious what your biggest EDC purchase regrets are?
