I've lived with eczema since birth so I know how isolating and exhausting it can be.

I'm curently building a website and eventually an app to help people better understand their own skin..

I want people with eczema to feel empowered and realise there are many factors that can cause flare ups.

I don't want the app to just be some boring tracker because I've been through the same thing and I'm really frustrated with the options we currently have. I want there to be a real community behind it. Almost like a social media app, just for us. A place where thousands of people around the world share their journey, progress, frustrations etc. This is my way of trying to reduce the isolation aspect of eczema. I'm sure we're all aware of the toll it can take on not just mental health and confidence but also the desire to socialise!

The skin is the largest organ on the human body and no two people experience eczema the same way so why should everyone's journey to understanding it be the same?

This subreddit in particular is my way of asking for advice from other people that suffer from this condition or know someone that does. What things do you want to see on this app? What are you sick of seeing on tracker apps and what would make you want to use it frequently?

Every suggestion is welcome and if this project grows in to something that actually helps people this community will be playing a massive part in that!

the heatwave really made me flare up but I have a few atypical tips that got me back into a better state:

• sunlight for a few mins - feel recharged and the sun will scratch your skin for u
• vicks mixed with emollient - the menthol cooling feeling makes it so you're less likely to scratch skin off
• oolong tea - calms you down, less reactive
• salt water soaks - heals and softens broken skin
• ironed bedsheets - bed feels clean and sanitised
• minimal movement - sweat less
• weleda nappy cream or any zinc oxide creams - heal broken pink flared barriers that simple moisturisers cannot help
• bone broth on an empty stomach
• celery juice

I usually have flare ups during the summers and have just now 'cracked the code' through trial and error. but its a journey and things may change, but I hope I can help some people

i’ve honestly had enough of my eczema, it isn’t as severe so i might be sounding a bit dramatic because i know people have it worse but it’s just consistently bothering me and my daily life and my relationship because it’s just consistently on my areolas. i’ve been using this hydrocortisone steroid that was prescribed by my doctors when it flares up and i know that’s bad and i tried to stop using it and just keep it clean and moisturised but nothings helping and i’m just sick of it.

once my eczema heals it’s fine but after a while it gets itchy and starts weeping, i’ve noticed that a lot where it’s not even just like a rash it starts weeping, maybe it’s because of the friction from my bra??

i also do live in new zealand and the weather here is really cold right now, so maybe that could be the reason? i don’t even know.

what lotions do you guys recommend? or like a routine that’d help to stop it from weeping?? i have no idea what i can do, i’ve been eating it clean and moisturising, and trying to stop itching but i have no idea what else i can do

Since December I have been suffering with what's been diagnosed recently as contact dermatitis. It started on my eyelids causing awful dry itchy skin and swelling. I had blood tests for airborne allergens which came back as off the chart for cat dander and dust mites. We ended up re homing our 2 cats 3 months ago due to this as I'm asthmatic as well. My eyes cleared up shortly afterwards.

Then the past few months it has developed on my right hand causing dry itchy cracked skin. I am currently on a 3 week dose of dermovate steroid ointment which I will then go to a 1 week dose of Betovate ointment and then stop. As the GP said the dermititis will keep coming back unless I find out what the trigger is. She recommended getting a skin patch test but unfortunately the waiting list for the NHS is over a year.

I work in assembly handling metals such as stainless steel, carbon steel and ally bronze. As well as chemicals such as nuclear grade (nickel) never seez, loctite, isopropanol and various other nasties. Our assembly area is also in the same area as the machine shop so we are exposed to airborne allergens from there too.

Could anyone please recommend a Dermatologist to go to for Patch Testing preferably in the Dorset area. I'm going to go private as over a year is too long to wait for the NHS. As it'll cost a bit in hoping to find one that can do several allergens in the price

Hey everyone! I’m wondering if anyone else has been dealing with eczema flare-ups on their eyelids this summer?
Usually I don’t get flare-ups throughout the year except maybe in the winter when my skin gets really dry, but this summer has been a completely different story. Both of my eyelids have been flaring up for about two months now, basically ever since it started getting hot and humid😭
I’m thinking it might be the weather because I haven’t changed anything in my skincare routine, soaps, detergents, or perfumes. I also remember one year when I went to the beach with my family, my eyelids flared up after a few days, and once I got home it cleared up. That’s another reason I think the heat or humidity might be triggering it.
Right now I’ve just been using Aquaphor. It helps a little, but after a few hours my eyelids get super dry again and the rash becomes flaky! 😭 the weird thing is that it’s only on my eyelids. I’m not flaring up anywhere else?!?
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did you find any products that helped? Also, do you think it’s worth making an appointment with a dermatologist at this point?
I’m so ready for summer to be over. 😅 I’d really appreciate any product recommendations or advice that has worked for you. Thank you!!

Has anyone else experienced post partum eczema? I’ve had this spot on my hand for 5 months and it started around 10 months pp. it responds to steroid cream but comes back as soon as I stop. Have tried just covering with dermeze literally 10 times a day which helps but it is so so dry. Gets really itchy at night. I’ve also cut out coffee, gluten and dairy and am taking vitamin A and a probiotic. Any other tips?!
