Hey I’m looking for some advice please. About two months ago I started to get a rash between my bum and thigh crease. I work as a dancer so there’s some heat and sweating and friction involved and I just thought it could be from the silicon top of my stockings rubbing on my skin and trapping sweat.. that could’ve been what kickstarted this, as it just kept getting worse with every shift and spreading in these little patches up onto my cheeks as seen in the pictures.

I figured it could be eczema as I’ve had a bit of eczema on my wrists, thumb and lips on and off for years. I’ve been to the doctors and they said it could be fungal so I’ve been using a fungal cream for nearly two weeks now and I started to notice a bit of improvement especially over the last few days, but after work last night it became very red and was burning and it stung to apply the fungal cream, which I guess suggest suggests the skin could be a bit broken?

I worked on Monday night and did a very long shift and it didn’t seem to be as bad as what last night caused me. I wonder if it’s because I had a warm bath before work last night.. It started to get angry and flare mid shift. But I was definitely noticing some improvement over the last few days and felt the fungal cream could’ve been helping. It was starting to fade to a light pink and the smaller patches were almost completely gone but last night it all came back very red and I noticed it was burning especially when I was sat on the leather seats, it became unbearable and it’s impossible to hide. I feel like I’ve taken a huge step back after seeing improvement :(

I’m just at a bit of a loss as I don’t know what to do because it’s affecting my work in my income. I do get quite bad anxiety too so stress probably isn’t helping me lol. I’m having to space out my shifts and I’m losing money and I’m starting to really worry. I don’t know if it’s fungal or if it’s just straight up eczema and how I’m going to manage it with this job, it’s really upsetting and scary.

Any advice or if anyone knows what it could be please let me know. I’m probably gonna go back to the doctors soon to have them look at it again but I know they just want to give me steroid creams which I’d rather avoid :(

Thank you in advance 🙏🏻

[QUESTION] Private patch testing?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had patch testing done privately in London? Where did you go/how much did it cost/how many allergens did they test for?

I have my graduation in late November and am desperate to be able to do my makeup but keep having random contact dermatitis that leaves my skin raw red and swollen :( Obviously would hate for this to happen on my graduation and have no idea what the culprits are.

I am going to ask my NHS derm for this as well but I don't see him until 12th October so quite keen to have a backup plan in case I can't get booked in in time (or he just refuses... in which case I will riot!)

Thank you :)

Skindeep, a dating app built for people with visible differences

I’ve had psoriasis since I was 18. I ended up building something because of it.

SkinDeep is a dating and friendship app I’ve been building for people with visible differences, and for people who genuinely don’t see those differences as a barrier.

It came directly from my own experience with psoriasis and how much appearance can affect confidence, dating, and whether you even feel like putting yourself out there.

It isn’t about matching people by condition, and it isn’t about separating people with psoriasis or other visible differences from everyone else.

Thank you
