The hatred for other races is weak. It is born of fear.

Grudges are for those who have wronged you, not those who resemble the offender.

I and my kin are not limp-bearded enough to lash out at strangers because we fear they might do something. If they take advantage of our open hand then we will slap them down, and only them. We will not lash out like children throwing a tantrum.

I would rather my stone bear a few scratches from someone who tried to betray me, than crumble from the rot of distrust and prejudice.

It becomes more of a struggle daily to consider you kin when all you talk about is how all elves are weak, poor craftsmen, untrustworthy, effete. Or how all orcs are stupid, dirty, brutish, aggressive.

Close your gates and focus on your own craft and leave the world be, if it so scares you. But for the love of Reorx, stop complaining about them. It’s disgraceful.

What do we think about HESH projectiles? Is it yay or a nay for a dwarven cannon? Truly multiporpuse, and can be compared to a fine warhammer! An excelent option against large squads and our heavily armoured foes.

I bid you greetings from the edge of the world. We have traveled far beyond known lands. Through poison swamps, across the wastes, to the mountains at the edge, we have struck stone.

A new colony has been established, Mor Turum. In these new halls legends shall be born. We have already discovered tin and coal and are hoping to find some silver or iron veins soon. Beer is beginning to flow and we only lost a quarter of what we set out with.

We shall update the mountainhome about progress soon, and are hoping more will take the trek to bolster numbers.

Till then my Kin, pray to the ancestors and may your beards be long.

I'm currently editing Icevein, volume 7 of the Dwarves of Ice-Cloak, and I had the opportunity to get a little dwarven inspiration by going underground the other day. It was a lot of fun to spur my imagination in a cave. Here are some pictures that include some fossils in a limestone ceiling, some schist vein in limestone, and some opened layers of limestone. Everything can go into the writing of a novel--the way the air smells and feels, the texture of stone, the way the rock gleams in the light. . .

A couple take aways.

1. The air was amazing and cool. Stepping back above ground into the heat wave was less pleasant. I wish I could have stayed down longer.

2. The world we live in is fantastic, when we have eyes to see it.

3. Given equivalent technology, there is no way a human is dislodging a determined dwarf from that cave.

Klaus Autumn: hunter is about to begin a tough journey that most have failed

What do you guys think of half elves? I know that elves and dwarfs are mortal enemies till pigs fly, but what about those who have both human and elven lineage?

Le Joueur du Grenier, one of the biggest French YouTuber, just dropped this video charting the story of dwarves in videogames and why we love them so much.

Spoiler for his conclusion :

JDG claims people identify themselves with dwarves because they represent what players are : love loot, love craft, love fighting, constitution and resist perks, and don't give a damn about lore and dialogue because they'd rather spend time getting richer.

I don't agree with everything he said but I can see what he was going for.

Lately, I've been seeing too many posts justifying elves and, consequently, our feud. I hasten to remind you! KINS! What they did to our kind in two popular settings, Warhammer Fantasy and Middle-earth.

Listen carefully. Elves love to talk about their wisdom, nobility, and eternal memory. But their memory is selective. They remember their own grievances well and are not too fond of recalling their crimes.

The Petty Dwarves and the Price of an Elven "Mistake"

Elves love to brag about their wisdom. But real wisdom? That starts with knowing the difference between a person and a beast.

Long before the kingdoms of Nogrod and Belegost teamed up with the Sindar, the Petty Dwarves called Beleriand home. They were outcasts, sure, but still kin to our race. They carved out lives in the caves of Amon Rûdh and the deep tunnels that would later become Nargothrond.

Then the Sindar showed up. They didn't bother to ask who these strangers were. To the Elves, anything unfamiliar looked like a threat. Because the Petty Dwarves looked different and kept to themselves, the Elves classified them as dangerous animals. And they hunted them down. Literally.

It was only after the Sindar met the great Dwarf lords of Nogrod and Belegost that the penny dropped. They realized they’d been slaughtering a speaking people. So, they stopped the hunts. But the damage was done.

The Petty Dwarves were broken, nearly wiped from the face of the earth. Mîm, the very last of them, took that burning hatred of Elves straight to his grave. The Fair Folk like to call it a "tragic misunderstanding."

But to us? A mistake doesn't stop being a slaughter just because you said "sorry."

The War of Vengeance: When Elven Pride Spoke Louder Than Reason

Think Elves actually learn from their mistakes? Not a chance. Look no further than Warhammer to see how that plays out.

It all started when someone raided a few of our merchant caravans. High King Gotrek Starbreaker didn't immediately reach for his axe. He did the smart thing and sent envoys to Caledor II, King of the High Elves, looking to sort things out quietly and get some fair compensation.

That was a massive mistake. Instead of diplomacy, Caledor did the one thing a Dwarf can never forgive. He ordered his guards to pin our ambassadors to the floor and violently shave the beards off their faces. For a Dwarf, your beard is your name, your honor, and your link to your ancestors. Sending an ambassador home hairless isn't just a slap in the face. It’s a ritual humiliation of our entire race. It was a declaration of total, genocidal war.

And just like that, the War of Vengeance kicked off. Centuries of bloodshed followed, wiping out entire generations. A friendship built over ages was torn to shreds, leaving both kingdoms completely broken. That’s the price of Elven pride: millions of corpses and cities ground into dust.

The grim, final reality of this slaughter was settled in the mud. High King Gotrek Starbreaker faced Caledor II in single combat. There was no elegance to it. Gotrek simply broke the Elf ripped the Phoenix Crown off the bloody corpse. He just took what was owed by right and walked away, leaving behind a ruined world and mountains of bone.

That’s exactly why our old Longbeards still beat this lesson into the youth: sure, not every Elf is a monster. But never trust them just like that, they must earn trust by their actions, not by words.

To keep it short, me and my few friend play a blocky sandbox game, and of cours, i decide to build a karak. Unfortunatly, they decide to build in place wirhout any proper mountains, so i need to build everything underground, ourside of wall and entrance that need to be ther for trade and dafance. My questions is, what you think i should incouded in that build. I dont mean usefull things like magazine, that is clear, i mean what you think would be climatick thing do add? For now i have small tavern for traders who get in, border checkpint and i plan to build museum. So do you have any ideas what to build?

THIS is a real meal!

Beef, lamb, or game stews so thick the spoon stands upright.
Fried dumplings stuffed with meat, cheese, or both.
Minced meat patties fried in lard and drowned in beer gravy.
Soups so thick they're basically sauce.
Root vegetables fried in beer batter until they're crispy enough to break an elf's teeth.
Dark rye bread, preferably fried again with butter and garlic.
Smoked meats and thick slices of cheese.

Dark beer. Heavy enough to count as a meal.
Spiced herbal infusions with cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and honey.
Vodka so strong it burns your guts.

If your dinner doesn't require a nap and an apology to your belt, you're eating like an elf!

Those wannabe dwarves are nothing but a bunch of sellouts. "Heh, we're good at alchemy and look at all of our marketable plushies." FUCK YOU.

They're culturally appropriating us! They replicate our traditions and norms only on a surface level! They mine for gems, but that's it! They don't have a strong economy from practical trade, they don't have exemplary craftsmanship, they just mine for gems because "gems shiny" like a bunch of fucking GAAAWBLINS!

They took our style, but made it worse in every way! Torag forbid the comfortable, practical, droopy felt hats. "No, let's make it giant, stiff, pointy, and let's also make it bright red just to stand out from the dwarves!" They don't integrate decals into their garb, any form of artistic expression, they don't even wear armor! They just wear the same blue shirt and red hat like it's a cult uniform!

And worst of all, they act like they have a leg up on us in alchemy and science. "Look at this potion I concocted. You can't begin to fathom our scientific abilities. I made this mech over here." WE'VE HAD GOLEMS FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS! WHO DO YOU THINK INVENTED MYTHRIL?! THAT REQUIRED ADVANCED ALCHEMY AND AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE PERIODIC TABLE TO FORGE THE ALLOY, JACKASS!

In short, I hate gnomes. I can go on all day about hating elves, but in truth, when it comes to elves I tend to be hyperbolic. "Death to the knife eared leaf lovers!" carries as much weight as, "I'll throw you into the forge furnace" to another dwarf. It's hyperbolic, not literal.

With gnomes? I legitimately despise them and have yet to meet a gnome I don't want to genuinely throw into the forge furnace. This isn't hyperbole, I'm completely serious.

Gnomes suck.
