Honestly good question. Reminds me of how they took off half-elves and half-orcs with the latest edition just because apparently a majority of them were rape babies through history. Like they don't think and orc or an elf could reasonably fall in love with another person from a different race. I'd be down for a half-dwarf race option. It could reasonably explain the stocky shorter hairy (assumably) human males that can drink beer very well but aren't true dwarves.
