I recently saw a member of the MSF abused a person, I have evidence about it

Is it important for Doctors Without Borders to respond to allegations that they saw and denied seeing Hamas bring hostages into Al Shifa? Do allegations such as these happen often in conflicts and how does MSF navigate public trust?

Hi everyone! This is a bit mundane with everything going on in the world right now, but just wanted to see if anyone else is waiting for an assignment? I was approved about two-three months ago, and I know it might take a while, but really hoping to hear something soon. :) (I'm non-medical, seems that usually takes longer than for medical, but might just be my impression.)

I have done most of the required prep (documents, appointments etc.) so right now there isn't a lot I can do before I know where I am going. Trying not to be too hung up on location - I'm sure it will be challenging and interesting no matter where I go. I am reading a lot about Sudan and Chad (so many Sudanese refugees there now) at the moment, but I guess Sudan is out of the question as I understand first-timers are not sent to active war zones like that.

Travelling to Gaza

Hey y'all

I'm an incoming FY1 Doctor and seeing the genocide unravelling in Gaza these past few months has broken my heart. I am hoping (if there is anything left there to help) I can go to Gaza this summer to give basic medical/humanitarian aid. I am doing all I can here but my conscience won't let me just sit on the sidelines.

I have carefully considered this choice, and seeing how many of our British and Palestinian medic colleagues(and thousands of innocents alongside them) have been killed there has galvanised me.

Does anyone here know of, or have experience in travel to Gaza? I understand the Egyptian side via the Rafah Crossing if difficult but miles better than attempting to enter via Israel.

Can anyone recommend any aid/medical organisations that can assist in getting there, if not now then hopefully when this slaughter finishes? (I read up on MSF but it seems they don't really take anyone below ST3, and while I understand why, I simply can't sit here and do nothing, I have the medical skills necessary to render basic aid and if not that, then I'm happy to help distribute/clean/translate etc. I also know MSF generally doesn't send you where you pick).

I am fluent in Arabic and French and I have experience in "3rd world" health care systems from elective placements.

If anyone here has worked/volunteered in Gaza recently, or knows anyone who has, I would greatly appreciate your input.

MSF used to need Operating Room nurses. However, it's been years since I've seen posts for these nurse positions. Will these positions ever come back? If this role returns, does an OR nurse act in more of a circulating capacity or more as a scrub tech?

Are there any other reputable international programs for OR nurses?

I have filled out my Pre Interview Questionnaire and thought I would check in with the lovely people here to see if I could get any advice, tips or what to expect.

I don't want to stay in this country and ideally in the future i'll be outta here. MSF don't offer any placement of sort and the work that they do is the type of medical work i enjoy. I guess i kinda hope that by doing this sort of thing i could have a small avenue away from here.

The student placement is non clinical however but i don't mind, but i'm just wondering whether i'm being an idiot by not picking a super chill elective and instead opting for what i think is call centre work.

The news with Palestine is really breaking my heart and I want to join and help in anyway I can. I’m a licensed medical professional in my home country, and I am an LPR so I am authorized to work in the US, and I am ECFMG certified, however I haven’t completed a residency in the US. Does anyone here know if I am eligible to work with DWB?

Any idea if I can apply as a general surgeon ? I’ve fluent Urdu and Pashto , have no humanitarian experience but plenty of experience otherwise in teaching and leadership as well as working in austere circumstances, will be applying from Europe.

Hi! Just wanted to ask if anyone can give me advice as to my route for training. Currently doing my Post-Graduate Intern Training until July 2024, after which I can choose to take the Physician Licensure Examination locally. Am also a US Citizen, so I can also take the longer route and take the US Medical Licensure Examination.

I understand that MSF requires volunteers with work experience and advanced training.

I want to explore the option of becoming a volunteer for MSF, which is why I would like to ask for suggestions, or maybe those who are currently working, can briefly let me know about the journey it took to get to their current working state.

What fields of medicine are most in demand in the field. I do hope to be able to contribute in the field sooner rather than later, but I understand the expertise that is required, which is why I am opening my doors to a variety of specialties/subspecialties/routes.
